I had Swype, all was good. Then it started freezing my screen, or misguiding the touch to the point that removing the battery was the only option. It was not a phone issue, because I factory reset and it works now. I had to because disabling Swype did not solve the problem. Is there any beta or anything out there?I CAN'T GO BACK TO TOUCH INPUT!

Is there a way to have swype for portrait mode but the regular htc touch keyboard for landscape mode when the phone is tilted on its side? Also how do I make the swype keyboard go away when editing a text box? There is a little button on the htc touch keyboard to minimize it but I don't see one on the swype keyboard.
View 10 Replies View RelatedMaybe I'm missing something but in the WinMo version of Swype theres an option to double a word that came out wrong and choose from a list of alternatives. That function doesn't seem to be included in the android one. I don't have nearly as many mistakes now with a capacitive touch screen as opposed to my old resistive, but I still get one every now and again and its easier to do that than place the cursor, backspace, and re-swype.

View 13 Replies View RelatedAnyone have issues where the touch screen and the buttons become unresponsive for a period for short bursts. I think my phone has had it. I tried restoring it to see if certain apps maybe causing it but that is not the issue. Restored still same problem. it happens about every 5 minutes.

I'm just wondering on the consensus here.I think the screen is so large that it is actually harder to type with Swype and easier to type on the touch keyboard in landscape mode. What are your guys thoughts? I keep switching back and forth.

My question is this. When you push the voice-to-text button does it pop up a window like earlier versions of Swype or does it do the really fast and slick thing that the multi touch keyboard does (just replace the keyboard with the audio waveform thing).
so randomly my phone will just freeze in the lock mode and i will be unable to unlock it. i can't power it off or do anything but be frustrated till whatever time it decides to rejoin the living.

I've had this phone long enough. It was cool compared to a dumb phone. But after a while, freezing, lag, phantom restarts, poor signal, and random switches have surpassed my patience.
I am going to switch to a Droid X. I heard good things. Few complaints. The HTC Inc. and Sam. Fascinate is nice but I'd rather not have a dead battery by noon everyday.
I work with about 50 others in my clinic. About 5 of them had IPhones before I got my Eris. Then 2 more got Iphones. Now, at least 4 or 5 times a day they're in here checking out my Eris. Have to remember to bring my charger in since they mess with it so much my battery is .Out of the 7 that have the Iphones, now 3 of them are pissed they didn't look into the Eris. The 2 that just got IPhones are pissed the most. Now I even got 2 others that work for me, and another person (all with Sprint) saying they were gonna go with AT&T, but since have changed their minds and will go with Verizon for my phone!
What's crazy is, I haven't even downloaded many APPS that you would think make people like it so much. That's just sad. I own an Ipod Touch, but know nothing of the IPhones capabilities, I just assumed it was the same + a phone. I'mma send Verizon a bill for

I am running xtrROM 4.2.1, and I can successfully install 1.60, but when I try to use it, I get this message:"The Swype package you installed does not match the screen size of the device. Please contact Swype about this issue. Screen size: 320x480)"I was able to use 1.56 fine on xtrROM 4.2.1, just installing 1.60 seems to be giving me issues.

Maybe I double pressed the powere button after the power on had started, but as soon as the droid eyeball screen came up, all images on the screen were in negative. This continued through the home screen loading until I turned the phone off and restarted, getting normal colors.

My gmail password is right and it still won't sign me in.it take a whole minute to call anyone on my phone list, I miss calls, when I go to answer my phone after two rings it ends call. And last but not least, my assigned ring tones don't play for my contacts, it only plays the default. I have tried everything. I'm wondering if i should take it to Verizon and get a new one.

I suspect this means Im using more juice than Im gaining because my battery was losing power. It also heated up more than usual. Returned to normal once I left it alone.

Just curious if anyone has any solutions or has experienced the same type of problem.
