While charging my phone today, I noticed that my LED started flashing and alternating from red to green. It was plugged into my wall and I was using it while it charged. I suspect this means Im using more juice than Im gaining because my battery was losing power. It also heated up more than usual. Returned to normal once I left it alone.

On my end, I'm HOT AS HELL. Today has become official the hottest day in Los Angeles on record, breaking 112 degrees in downtown LA. I had an errand to run on my lunch break, so I ventured out into the heat and, while in line at the drive thru to get lunch before heading back, I noticed the LED on my EVO slowly blinking orange, then yellow. I looked, and the phone was no longer charging, even though it was plugged in.
Looking at SystemPanel, my battery was at 118.5 degrees, and it felt a bit hot, but not too much so. Upon returning to my office, the phone is now plugged in and the LED is a solid orange. Was the alternating blinking LED telling me my phone was overheated? If so, have I damaged my phone? It seems to run fine, thankfully.
So, my Eris has been charging for a while, and I was playing Cestos, and noticed my LED was alternating between Green and Amber. So I exited my game, thinking I probably had an E-mail. Well I didn't. I unplugged my charger, plugged it back in, and it continued this for about 15 minutes. It isn't doing it now, but I just would like to know the cause of it.

Off wall with battery, orange/green led. How can I fix it? I have tried entering recovery mode but just isn't working. Battery has been charging all day. Battery out resets did not fix it. I did a complete data reset and it returned to normal. Anyone else experience this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI work with about 50 others in my clinic. About 5 of them had IPhones before I got my Eris. Then 2 more got Iphones. Now, at least 4 or 5 times a day they're in here checking out my Eris. Have to remember to bring my charger in since they mess with it so much my battery is .Out of the 7 that have the Iphones, now 3 of them are pissed they didn't look into the Eris. The 2 that just got IPhones are pissed the most. Now I even got 2 others that work for me, and another person (all with Sprint) saying they were gonna go with AT&T, but since have changed their minds and will go with Verizon for my phone!
What's crazy is, I haven't even downloaded many APPS that you would think make people like it so much. That's just sad. I own an Ipod Touch, but know nothing of the IPhones capabilities, I just assumed it was the same + a phone. I'mma send Verizon a bill for
So I went from leak 2.1 v2 to v3 last night and then did a factory reset. And this morning I've noticed a green LED that is now on inside the ear piece. This is not the LED notification light. This is underneath the ear piece mesh. I've never noticed that before. Has it always been there, and I was just not observant enough? Anyone know what it's purpose is? I couldn't find anything on it elsewhere in the forum.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was talking to my husband when my Eris started vibrating nonstop! I had to shut my phone off like 3x. My gmail password is right and it still won't sign me in.it take a whole minute to call anyone on my phone list, I miss calls, when I go to answer my phone after two rings it ends call. And last but not least, my assigned ring tones don't play for my contacts, it only plays the default. I have tried everything. I'm wondering if i should take it to Verizon and get a new one.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had Swype, all was good. Then it started freezing my screen, or misguiding the touch to the point that removing the battery was the only option. It was not a phone issue, because I factory reset and it works now. I had to because disabling Swype did not solve the problem. Is there any beta or anything out there?I CAN'T GO BACK TO TOUCH INPUT!

I hope that's alright.Using Seesmic 1.2 but I had the same problem with 1.1. I have Background Notification checked, Vibrate, Ringtone and Flashing LED unchecked. Even though I have it unchecked the LED starts flashing whenever a new tweet arrives. I would just like to have the notification in the status bar and no other form of notification.
My friend has a Motorola Droid and doesn't have this issue at all which makes me think it's only on the Eris. I tried contacting support and they weren't able to solve the problem. Google doesn't turn up any similar issues either.I'm hoping a fellow Eris owner and Seesmic user could chime in and let me know if they experience the same behavior. At least let me know that I'm not crazy and tell me this happens to other people.
When you want to make a call - you press the phone button and the phone dial buttons pop up and on the top some names from the contact list. You can roll down to get the full list of contact names to select from...
My problem is that this dial list is too sesnsetive : it is enough to touch a name and puff it starts dialing right away. This way I started call by accident people that I did not really want to call. Can this smart dial be made less touch sensetive. Or better: an option when the phone will respond "do you want to call this person?" or something

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an eris flashed with PB00IMG and I believe I have root access. I am able to remove apps through terminal. I cannot get the google maps to update. I have removed maps.apk, htcnavi.apk and com.google.android.maps.jar. I have removed these separately and all together. I have been able to get it to update before, but I reflashed the PB00IMG because I could not get youtube videos to play without the stock browser. I got the youtube videos working again but cannot remember how to get the maps to update again. I wanted to try flashing different roms. I have downloaded a couple, placed them on the sdcard, and booted but I cannot get them to boot.

I like to use my Eris's camera a LOT (its a decent camera!) but am now disappointed that there is a reddish blur in the center of all photos. It is very noticeable on white backgrounds in medium to low light conditions. does anyone have any info? i rooted my phone and am still in the 30 day period, i have insurance too.

But now, when i select an item using scroll wheel, or when I click an item, the original colors for selecting/clicking do not override my custom backgrounds (I can see the original color below the one I set).
How can I set the original colors for these states?
I have a couple of list views, one uses TextViews laid out with xml, the other uses a custom class derived from View. The default halloween color scheme is pretty ugly. How can I change the background and selection colors for the list elements. Ideally, I'd like to be able to do this in code not xml, to handle the custom view.

I did the gscript way on rooting the phone and that was a success but when I'm trying to flash the Plain Jane rom it would work but then when needing to be restarted it would just go into bootloop like have the ERIS screen then appear with the Plain Jane over the top of it and just repeat itself forever. What am i doing wrong?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have a Droid Eris that I'm trying to flash from 1.5 to the latest rooted ROM 2.1. My first attempt, I copied PB00IMG.zip to the SD card, disconnected the phone, and flashed the firmware while disconnected from the PC. I think that prevented me from gaining root access, because I cannot remount the system directory using the adb commands (gives me access denied). I'm trying now to flash the ROM while still having the phone connected to the PC, but I'm not having much luck, as I am still being denied access.
PB00IMG.zip worked WONDERFULLY on my phone.
I have a rooted 2.1 eris and adb is all set up. I get all the way down to the commands and the last one:
adb shell flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
says file not found. What am I doing wrong

View 37 Replies View RelatedI recently got rid of my iPhone (couldn't stand Job's arrogance anymore) and decided to go with the cost effective route of MetroPCS. When I found Android phones could be flashed to work with it, I was quite excited. I found a phone and someone to do the flashing on Craigslist (actually a local phone shop that does it).
He flashed my phone and loaded Evil Eris onto it. I wasn't under the impression that if he put this rom on, I was going to have issues, like no voicemail notification or softkey leds. Going into this, I was pretty unaware of all the different rom choices, and the effects they have on the phone, and I still kind of am. So I have a few questions, because I've been reading about Ivans and kind of want to try it out, but want to make sure I've covered all my bases.
1. I am still unaware of the exclusivity or co-dependence that "flashing" a phone and changing a rom have with one another. He flashed my phone to work with Metro, and upload the Evil Eris rom. Main question is - if I wipe and load Ivans, do I lose the ability to use Metro? Or is it simply an issue of loading up my Metro APN (i think thats right) settings once I've loaded the new rom?
2. Nandroid backup - I made one the other day. If I go in, try another rom, and screw something up, I am under the impression that I could restore that backup and my phone be working like I never left it, including MetroPCS settings, correct?
3. Can anyone suggest a good program to backup and restore carrier specific settings, so that if I load a new rom I can quickly port settings over? Does something like this exist?
4. Finally, if all of this has been answered somewhere where I didn't find, feel free to send me to those links!
So I am using SuaveSmush as my current ROM, but I wanted to try a Froyo ROM out. I am currently using A2SD. When I flash the new ROM, it says that the card is damaged or not recognized and when I click on it, it wants me to reformat it. If the ROM (Froyo) supports A2SD, shouldn't I be able to use it right away, or do I have to revert back to an earlier state with the SD card and then repartition it when on Froyo?

I flashed XTR 3.01 and was going through the setup and was asked to activate my phone. My phone has already been activated and i was wondering if this is normal when flashing a new ROM and if verizon is going to re-charge me for the activation fees?
