so randomly my phone will just freeze in the lock mode and i will be unable to unlock it. i can't power it off or do anything but be frustrated till whatever time it decides to rejoin the living.

I've been out side smoking and playing on my eris and I notice it really starts to lag in the cold. I live in Minnesota and winter here is pretty cold. I'm just wondering if any one else has experienced this?

i installed launcher pro, rebooted phone and it appears to be frozen on the skateboard screen (never happened in the past) what can i do?
I've had this phone long enough. It was cool compared to a dumb phone. But after a while, freezing, lag, phantom restarts, poor signal, and random switches have surpassed my patience.
I am going to switch to a Droid X. I heard good things. Few complaints. The HTC Inc. and Sam. Fascinate is nice but I'd rather not have a dead battery by noon everyday.
I had Swype, all was good. Then it started freezing my screen, or misguiding the touch to the point that removing the battery was the only option. It was not a phone issue, because I factory reset and it works now. I had to because disabling Swype did not solve the problem. Is there any beta or anything out there?I CAN'T GO BACK TO TOUCH INPUT!

View 13 Replies View RelatedI am plan B and AVG security installed, both don't always work, I have pattern lock on the phone but even in pattern lock mode when i press and hold power button the phone gives me option to shutdown.
If someone steals my phone they will be able to shut it off without unlocking it since holding down power button still works. So is there a way to lock the power button from shutting off phone when the phone is in pattern unlock mode?
I'm having trouble with my superuser app and wireless tethering. I just flashed a new rom (xtrSENSE) and successfully set up tethering on my phone. However, I think I screwed something up after that. I allowed permission for access, and went back in to the superuser app later, clicked on the corresponding line and it disappeared. When I went back in to tether my phone today, it transferred to the SU app and promptly froze, later force closing. Every attempt since has had the same result.
I have tried changing several settings and even flashed a new rom (aloysius) to try to fix it. I have no idea what I did, but it freezes then force closes every time I try to get into the SU app. The only thing i can imagine I did is click on the permission but I don't know how that can screw things up. Anyone know what I did or have suggestions to fix? I'm really missing tethering. Thanks!
Went back to an old nandroid backup and restarted my phone... all better now. No idea what the problem was, but it clearly was user error. Sorry to clutter up the boards.
I was downloading 'My Market' and it just said 'Installing' and the bar didn't move for days. I've been on Wi-Fi and on 3G and nothing. I tried restarting and hard restart. Nothing. Any ideas?

Auto-rotation for keyboard when answering a text message received in sleep mode does not work. If I actively send a text when phone is already awake, keyboard rotates with no problem but when I go to reply to a text that I received while phone is in sleep mode, the keyboard does not rotate. Is this the norm?I am also experiencing a delay when the I wake the phone. After unlocking the phone, I used to go straight to my home page, now I get a "loading" message which takes several seconds. Is this due to the number of apps I have loaded? Is it possibly due to number of photo frames I have on my home screen or the complexity of the wallpaper?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo I am a total newbie not only to the boards but also to the Eris. So I would like to thank all of you in advance for not flaming me if this is a super simple fix. I have had my eris for about 3 weeks now. Everything works perfectly but over the last few days I can no longer hit the red end call button in order to manually lock my phone. When I press it, my phone does NOTHING. It will however still lock after it is idle for 1 one and it will also open back up when I hit the red button (so I know its not a problem with the physical button). I have restarted it, removed the battery, and deleted apps that were downloaded around the same time this started. I have also checked every setting I can possible think of but can't figure this out.

Is there a way to lock to app drawer?
I tried Go Launcher and I was able to remove the app drawer. However if he hits the menu button in go launcher, he'd be able to do a whole lot of damage. The phone's rooted.
How do you get an Eris out of safe mode? My wife left her phone outside and it got a little wet. I dried it off and pulled the battery to make sure it didn't get wet. Put it all back together and rebooted. Now the phone is stuck in safe mode. No downloaded apps are showing, Lookout will not open in App Manager, Pandora won't work, and I'm sure I'm missing some more.

Is there a way to get rid of the HTC slide down lock screen and use the default android lock screen that you slide to the side. I'v seen apps like Lockbot and WidgetLocker, but you still have to use the HTC slide down lock screen when answering calls.

It does this maybe once a day and the only way to unlock the lock screen is... you can't. I have to pull the battery out and put it back in, then wait the entire three minutes it takes to restart.
EDIT: Sometimes it doesn't lock, but I can't pull down the unlock all the way. It sits there near the bottom of the screen and I can kind of move it around, but I can't pull it all the way down.
This is unbearably frustrating because I use the cardio program to track all my fitness. If it locks up in the middle of a workout, I can't save or see my progress. Obviously, I can't make a guess as to the distance I've traveled because I'm training for a marathon and I need exact numbers.
This is not to mention god knows what kind of screw-ups might result from so many restarts and forced shut down by pulling out the battery.
Is there a way to let the screen time-out and go black, but NOT re lock. Its a pain to have the phone sitting down for a little bit and come back to it always being locked. If i shut the screen off and put it in my pocket, i want it to lock, but auto time-outs should let it come right back up

View 2 Replies View RelatedMost people seem to want to be able to lock their screen while on a call (using bluetooth headsets mostly), and I'd prefer it didn't go to lock while on a call. I just find it annoying when I've been talking for a few seconds or minutes, then take the phone away from my head, having to wake up the screen by swiping my thumb across the light sensor, set the unlock pattern, hit the home button to leave the dialer app, find the app I need to look something up in while talking, etc. And sometimes it doesn't go to lock at all! Does anyone know why/when the screen goes to lock during a call only? The rest of the time, it takes the full 10 minutes I have it set for before dimming out and shutting down. But usually, during a call, it seems like only a few seconds.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to unlock my phone so I can turn off the stream I am listening to in the app StreamFurious Pro but I can not. When I tap the red button right of the track ball, the lock screen comes up, but then when I swipe down it only slides part of the way and then starts to shimmy or bounce up and down. I can see the browser window I last had open below it, but I cant get to anything because the lock won't slide all the way down. Even when that grey bar does get all the way gone, it bounces back a second later.
The menu button does not respond. If I hit the red button again to send it to sleep, it does. Letting it sit does not help. When I hit the red button again, it either shows the grey bar you grab still bouncing, or the lock screen again, but the same thing then happens. I have had streamFurious Pro for awhile and never had this issue. I have not added any new apps since yesterday AM and used my phone just fine between then and now.
