My Eris has been working fine with the screen timeout. It is set to go off at 1 minute. But since last night, it's only dimming the screen now. It will not turn off unless I press the end call button. It hasn't been doing that, so I'm not sure what's going on.

How in the world do you prevent the screen from auto-dimming? And yes, I do have that setting unchecked. When I have my phone plugged in and it's using Nightwatch as a deskclock, after a bit that screen dims. Help me stop it!

My screen will randomly start to dim as I'm using it to say scroll through contacts or texting and the screen will go to like 50% brightness. Is this a bug because why would it be dimming if I am using the phone?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently made the switch from a BlackBerry Curve to the HTC Incredible. One of the "features" of my Curve that I'm having trouble duplicating on the Incredible is this: I was able to set a timeout to lock the phone and a separate timeout to blacken the screen. That is, if the screen went black after 30 seconds of inactivity, the screen wouldn't necessarily lock until 30 minutes of inactivity. I have increased the screen timeout on my Incredible, but the screen doesn't dim at all. I tried installing the No Lock application, but now I can't find a way to manually lock the phone if necessary.

I have the "never sleep when charging" setting checked, and what it does when charging is the screen dims, but the moment does not sleep. Is there a way to prevent the dimming while charging?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed cyanogen on my desire and have found the mod to be an absolute joy to use. The one irritation however has been the automatic screen dimming. Every 6 or 7 seconds or so the screen dims itself. This can become very annoying when reading long messages or any other text. Surely there must be a simple solution to turn off this automatic dimming setting?

View 18 Replies View Relatedokay so i downloaded skype mobile and it download but got stuck on the installing screen so i turned the phone off and back on and now it just is stuck in this endless loop of turning off and on. i tried holding down the volume up key while pressing the end call button to do a reset and it just says "cache error". any ideas? maybe skype gave me a virus?

View 10 Replies View RelatedFrom a black screen, sitting on my desk, or bed...the screen would magically turn on. And not always to the lock screen. Sometimes would just turn on and be unlocked (I don't have it password locked, so it would open to the desk top without having to swipe) And if left alone, it will go to dark after 1 minute. It has cycled through this on/off 3 or 4 times, all without me touching the phone at all.If I power it down, it appears to solve this until.I don't know what, but eventually it will go through this routine again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor the record, I am not rooted. I installed the OTA 2.1 update last week.Before the 2.1 update, I never saw this. But recently, my screen will turn on (it will display the 'lock' screen) all by itself. It's draining the hell out of my battery; I'm down to 80% after 2 hours, just due to the screen turning on while it's in my holster. Not cool at all.I've noticed this only happens at certain times at work. It hasn't happened to me at home yet, and I don't notice it while It's just sitting on my desk at work. I mainly notice it when I take it out before or after I take a break (leaving my desk to go out for a smoke, or whatever). So here's what I think it is.On my work laptop (Ubuntu 9.10), I'm running BlueProximity, which probes a paired Bluetooth device (my Droid, in this case) and locks my laptop if it's not within a certain range. It *seems* (not 100% sure) that when I leave and re-enter the maximum range of my laptop's BT receiver i.e., breaking and then re-establishing the connection -- that the Droid's screen turns on.Again, I'm pretty sure it's the 2.1 update that caused this to start happening. It only started happening within the last week. I suppose it could be an app, but that seems unlikely. Has anyone else seen a problem like this? Anyone have any ideas for resolving? Is there any info I can provide that would be helpful in pinning down the problem?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an Eris from Craigslist. It had 2.1 on it. I recently got my number ported and activated on the eris on pageplus. Although the weird thing, and this happened before the activation. Is after i used the wifi widget and the 3g turned off the mobile network wont turn on. I tried using the widget toggle as well as in the menu. Its just always stuck as " Turning On".Do i have to do anything to fix this? I thought i saw a thread about this the other night but now i cant find it. I also did a hard reset thinking that would fix the problem before i did OTA Activation.

I have gone into sounds and selected notification sound and expected there to be an option for silent among the other sounds but no dice. And I don't see any other way to turn it off. I know that you can turn off haptic feedback for the screen, but on the eris, i have yet to find a way to turn off the haptic feedback for those specific keys at the bottom. So i was wondering is it possible? is there an option to do it in any downloadable apps?

The notification feature is driving me nuts.
I can't choose which applications send me a notification nor how frequently it updates. I'd actually be happy if I could turn off notications all together. The only way I've found to do this is put the phone on airplane mode- which then turns off the phone, too.
Can anyone give me some simple tips for how modify or turn off notifications from apps?
I was having issues with the home clock/weather thingy on my Eris so I downloaded Beautiful Widgets - my husband is running it on his Moto Droid and loves it. Anyway, ever since I installed it two days ago the widgets keep turning themselves off and on.This morning I put the phone in vibrate mode and several hours later (after I missed a call) I looked and phone was in silent mode with vibrate mode still turned on. Also, twice now my mobile connection has turned off by itself. (I have the HTC widget installed on one of my homescreens.) I only discovered this when I tried to browse a webpage. Who knows at what point the mobile network was turned off. I don't exactly know how beautiful widgets turns itself off but it's concerning to me that it could also turn the mobile network off somehow too. (I have to assume BW is causing the issue as it had never happened before it was installed.)Help? Ideas?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I first Bought My Droid X. I installed GDE which I Love and also Lockbot Pro which I also enjoy the Versatility of. During my 2nd day of use my screen went blank and no matter what I did the factory screen would not return, so I did a Hard reset back to factory settings. Now my problem is, that my original factory home Screen is no Longer Available through the home Button even if I uninstall Lockbot pro and/or GDE.
AND when I press the home Button it always asks me If I want to go to GDE or Lockbot (but as everyone knows, U never pick the lock screen). Should I just give up the Apps I like. I have the desire to got back to the factory home screen. That's why I ask, I can't without doing a Hard reset everytime. By the way, My 1st Droid (with The hard keyboard) always gives me the option of GDE, Home, or Lockbot When I press the home Button.
Anyone else having problems viewing videos on youtube after the update?It was working fine before the update and now i can't view 99% of the videos i try to view on youtube.what's even worse is that the videos i CAN view won't work when i try to switch to the HD mode?how do I fix this?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI checked to see if I have the cell standby 50% bug and I do. My up time is 11:34:50, my awake time is 3:47:48, but if I look at the cell standby it says time on 14:42:16. How can the cell standby thing be a longer time than my phone has been on? I did the leak 2 days ago, so it's not showing that time or anything.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy Eris is just no longer working as a phone. The only place I get good signal strength is at the Verizon store. I think the radio is dying because the other 3 Eris droids in my house (wife and 2 kids) all show 15 - 20 dB higher (less negative) signal strength.
I went to VZW store for some help and all they could do was #228 option 1 and *228 option 2 and recommend that I get a task killer app and use it 3 times a day.
So, anybody know how to get past the sales side and get to somebody that can determine if the phone is broke?
Data and apps all work fine, I get 3G everywhere, and it's rooted (so is the wife's) using XTRROM 4.2(me) XTRSense 4.2 (wife) - kids not rooted.
I installed MR2 a few days ago rather than waiting on the OTA update. Now I can't download a couple paid apps from the Market that I had previously paid for. WeatherBug Elite is one of them, it doesn't even show up when I do a search in the Market.
Some searching turned up a similar issue on other HTC devices on another carrier, something about an OS foot print? Is there a way to get around this? It's pretty obnoxious.
