This may be really dumb, but how do I turn off the phone? Or know that it is off? I don't get many calls or texts and want to have the battery last by turning the phone off. I push the "off" button and the screen darkens, but the phone stays very warm. Is this normal for the off state?

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I trun my phone on, the scene changes from the scene I had chosen (the waving grass) to "current (unsaved)".If I change it to the one I prefer (saved with my name) I am asked to "save or cancel" the incorrect one.I click cancel, and all is well.But why does it change and how do I keep the scene selected that I want?I just want it to stick on the scene that I have chosen.

View 18 Replies View Relatedokay so i downloaded skype mobile and it download but got stuck on the installing screen so i turned the phone off and back on and now it just is stuck in this endless loop of turning off and on. i tried holding down the volume up key while pressing the end call button to do a reset and it just says "cache error". any ideas? maybe skype gave me a virus?
View 18 Replies View RelatedI recently bought an Eris from Craigslist. It had 2.1 on it. I recently got my number ported and activated on the eris on pageplus. Although the weird thing, and this happened before the activation. Is after i used the wifi widget and the 3g turned off the mobile network wont turn on. I tried using the widget toggle as well as in the menu. Its just always stuck as " Turning On".Do i have to do anything to fix this? I thought i saw a thread about this the other night but now i cant find it. I also did a hard reset thinking that would fix the problem before i did OTA Activation.

I have gone into sounds and selected notification sound and expected there to be an option for silent among the other sounds but no dice. And I don't see any other way to turn it off. I know that you can turn off haptic feedback for the screen, but on the eris, i have yet to find a way to turn off the haptic feedback for those specific keys at the bottom. So i was wondering is it possible? is there an option to do it in any downloadable apps?

The notification feature is driving me nuts.
I can't choose which applications send me a notification nor how frequently it updates. I'd actually be happy if I could turn off notications all together. The only way I've found to do this is put the phone on airplane mode- which then turns off the phone, too.
Can anyone give me some simple tips for how modify or turn off notifications from apps?
I was having issues with the home clock/weather thingy on my Eris so I downloaded Beautiful Widgets - my husband is running it on his Moto Droid and loves it. Anyway, ever since I installed it two days ago the widgets keep turning themselves off and on.This morning I put the phone in vibrate mode and several hours later (after I missed a call) I looked and phone was in silent mode with vibrate mode still turned on. Also, twice now my mobile connection has turned off by itself. (I have the HTC widget installed on one of my homescreens.) I only discovered this when I tried to browse a webpage. Who knows at what point the mobile network was turned off. I don't exactly know how beautiful widgets turns itself off but it's concerning to me that it could also turn the mobile network off somehow too. (I have to assume BW is causing the issue as it had never happened before it was installed.)Help? Ideas?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've recently been having an issue where my Mobile Data randomly does not work. When I go to settings, it is checked as enabled. I have to uncheck and recheck this to get it to 'turn back on' or refresh.I haven't been able to see a pattern yet for why it's turning off, but it seems to sometimes do it after it goes to sleep. I have tried enabling 'Always On' for the data connection, but this doesn't help.
View 1 Replies View Relatedyes, it is . I charged it up Sunday night. Monday evening I still had over 60%. Monday night I did not plug it in, I tuned off 3G though. This morning the battery status still showed ~60%. So what did I do (or what did I NOT do)?
(1) I did not do the battery discharge-recharge thingy. BTW, if you really *fully* discharge a Li-ion battery you will kill it.
(2) I did not download any task killer/manager. This is supposed to be a smart phone to kill things when needed.
(3) I do not use the Home button at all. I always use the back button. my awake time is about 10%
(4) I do autosync, but my WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS is off.
I admit I am not a heavy user, though I have used up about 50 Mb data in 2 days. Peter
Well so after a cross country meet I had my Droid 2 in my backpack and I was going to call my dad. It wouldn't turn on, so I thought that it was just because my battery died. When I got home the next day, I charged it for a while and then turned it on, but it still wouldn't charge. I'm thinking that it is dead, but the charger is messed up because I didn't see anything on the Droid that was blinking, so I think that means its not charging. Can someone please help me?

If I try to turn the phone on by the power button it does nothing, it's like the phone is dead. If I pull the battery or plug it into a charger it will let me turn it back on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is weird and took me a while to pinpoint exactly when this happens. When I am done using my phone I usually hit the home button to get to my home screen, regardless of what app or what screen I'm on. Then I press the power button at the top top turn off the screen. Almost everyday with what I thought was no clear pattern, my phone would reboot just after setting it down when I was done using it. I found that when pressing power too quickly after pressing home when the app hasn't fully gone away yet causes the phone to reboot. I have been able to consistently do this today from the gallery, not just at a specific picture but when viewing the list of my phone pictures. Over half a dozen times just now, every time, home then power and it reboots. I uninstalled OpenHome thinking it was related to the custom home app, but even with the default home it is still happening.Gallery is not the main problem, it has happened from other apps, but that one I have been able to most consistenly reproduce it because it takes longer for that to close before getting to the home screen (I only have 52 pictures, so I can't imagine that is the reason). I am about to go to a verizon store and see if I can reproduce it on the phones on display.

Will they accept it, or do I need to spend another ridiculous amount of money for the phone? I was going to take the phone back anyway for massive amounts of dropped calls and desktop wont rotate horizontally. You can't really tell it has been damaged, it just wont turn on. The water damage sticker is still red.

It's rather annoying as I would rather not use a lock screen but don't want the screen turning on for every new text either. Screen stays off fine if the lock screen is enabled. This is my first Android phone so not sure if this is how Android behaves or if it's a Droid X issue.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI woke up this morning and noticed that my 3G was off - so I go into menu to turn it back on and it says "Turning on" so I sit there and watch it for like 5 minutes, still turning on, so I decided to leave it alone for a few hours. Still "turning on". By the way, at this point in time I was running the rooted leak #3 that jcase posted. So here are the steps I've taken to get this issue resolved, all to no avail:
1) reboot - when it booted back up, still said "turning on..."
2) factory data/dalvik clear - same. after setup, still "turning on..."
3) restore to previous NAND backup from a few days ago - still "turning on..."
4) factory data/dalvik wipe and flash new ROM (Ivan's 1.0 OC ROM) - same thing.. after setup, still "turning on..."
5) *228 program - phone rebooted with the 3G symbol showing, but no data connection could be found by any apps, including the browser. shortly after that, the 3G icon disappeared and we're back to "turning on..."
6) update PRL - same as above
7) flash Alltel/VZW Hybrid PRL - same as above
8) Turn on Airplane Mode - 3G went from "turning off..." to "off", but as soon as I took out of of Airplane mode, it went back to "turning off"
9) Battery pull - same thing.. rebooted, still "turning off..."
So now, I'm sitting here with Ivan's new 1.0 ROM but no data. Every now and then, the 3G icon will show up and in the settings, it tells me that mobile network is on, but the icon never shows that it's receiving data, only sending. Then the icon goes away and it's back to "turning on...". By the way, my radio is 2.41.04.02.02.
Rooted my phone and don't really need a2sd on right now, so do i have to edit my sd card at all or just uncheck a2sd?

Now... I use Locale for the following:
- Turning the ringer down when I get to work (obviouse one)
- Turning GPS/Bluetooth/wifi on when I plug it in the phone (think car dock)
- Turn on Wifi when I get near my known hot spots.
- Turn off GPS/Bluetooth/wifi off and turn down brightness when my battery is low.
And the last one is a good one for me...
- I have a GV number. When I call my phone from that number, it turns the ringer volume all the way up and it turns on wifi and GPS. This is my "lost phone aid". It turns on the locating features so I can see where the phone is using iGoogle and Latitude, and I can hear the phone if it is "in the cushions" on vibrate.
Anyone else get creative with Locale?
I am developing on 2.1 and location updates will not resume after removing them and adding them again.Is this an issue with the system?

Um my phone keeps turning off by itself. And its really really starting to get annoying.IDK if it was some app or an update.
