Is there a way to separate the dimming vs. sleeping timeout? It appears that if I set the screen timeout to any value, it dims first, then sleeps. I have the "never sleep when charging" setting checked, and what it does when charging is the screen dims, but the moment does not sleep. Is there a way to prevent the dimming while charging?

I have two separate questions/problems.
1) My husband's Moment is paired with the bluetooth in our car. I know its paired because it shows up on the list of devices on the Moment but it fails to automatically connect to the car when bluetooth is on and he starts the car. This worked fine with his Treo previously and I'm pretty sure, worked with the Moment for the first coupld of times after pairing. It will connect if I do it manually but that's a pain! I have reviewed all the settings and can't find anything wrong . . .
2) Again, on my husband's Moment there seems to be a program that's running which turns on his screen and leaves it on! We hit the "end" button to turn it off but it will come back on later (I "ended" twice during the course of the night last night, a few hours apart). I have the screen timeout set to 15 secs and no other notifications/alerts in any program that would (I think) cause the screen to illuminate and not time out. Its obviously a concern for battery life and just plain annoying.
My mom's Moment has an issue with the screen shutting off way too quickly. I've adjusted the settings to 2 minutes, but it still shuts off in like 30 seconds.

Now this problem. the phone will not stay asleep after timeout or end button . I have to restart the phone when it does this to make it work normal for a a short while... then usually every day... just a few hours after a restart, it does it again.
So its very consistent, very annoying. Does it with apps or no apps, nothing running or everything running, with service, or with out service.... doesn't matter.
As you can see in the vid, extremely occasionally "shaking" the phone will make it stop. but as im typing this now, its back on again. most of the time shaking doesn't do anything. Next time i may try chunking it at my fireplace
The keyboard light times out to quickly for my taste. Is there a setting on the phone or an app in the market that keeps it from going dark so quickly? Does 2.1 have this option accessible? I'm still running 1.5.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI have the screen timeout set to 1 min which works fine until I use the phone. When using the phone the screen times out (and locks) in about 5 seconds. This is a real pain when using voicemail etc and you need to interact with the keypad.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI had the weird issue of my screen staying on after texts, missed calls, etc.to the point that it would continue to drain the battery if I let it.The only way to remedy this was seemingly to activate the puzzle lock piece.On a missed text, call, etc., the screen would turn on to notify me with a visible puzzle lock screen, but then shut off after literally 1 second.Now I feel like I'm in a race against my own phone to detect a text and rip it out of my pocket to swipe the screen before it goes black and I have to hit the sleep/power button to turn it back on and swipe it that way.It's stupid.Yes, I want the screen to not be on all day, but damn.1 second? Is there any happy medium?

I have tried switching the auto timeout amount multiple times...still just sits here until I manually turn it off.
I recently made the switch from a BlackBerry Curve to the HTC Incredible. One of the "features" of my Curve that I'm having trouble duplicating on the Incredible is this: I was able to set a timeout to lock the phone and a separate timeout to blacken the screen. That is, if the screen went black after 30 seconds of inactivity, the screen wouldn't necessarily lock until 30 minutes of inactivity. I have increased the screen timeout on my Incredible, but the screen doesn't dim at all. I tried installing the No Lock application, but now I can't find a way to manually lock the phone if necessary.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently installed cyanogen on my desire and have found the mod to be an absolute joy to use. The one irritation however has been the automatic screen dimming. Every 6 or 7 seconds or so the screen dims itself. This can become very annoying when reading long messages or any other text. Surely there must be a simple solution to turn off this automatic dimming setting?

My screen will randomly start to dim as I'm using it to say scroll through contacts or texting and the screen will go to like 50% brightness. Is this a bug because why would it be dimming if I am using the phone?

I think I remember this happening once or twice on the moment but admittedly, I don't use it much so not sure if the lock screen was on, screen was off, etc. Just looking to see if anyone if affected by this or if it's a known problem.

To save on battery, i keep my phone display timeout to 2 minutes. The problem im running into is when the screen times out, it kills the navi and i gotta restart it....very annoying and sucks if a turn is coming up

Have an issue, my screen does not timeout. I have checked the setting under Screen timeout and is set for 15 seconds but still does not timeout!

Updated to stock 2.2 using the OTA update just now. Everything seems OK, with one exception - the screen timeout no longer works. Doesn't matter what I set it to, the screen just doesn't turn off.
I do have KeepScreen installed, so I shut off its service just in case it was interfering with something somehow. It makes no difference - the screen just doesn't time out.
I saw a while ago on here an App to toggle screen timeout but whilst screen was on it would dim if not using which I like the idea of. I cannot remember what it was called can anybody help? At the moment I am using 'Toggle Screen Timout' which is great but does not dim.

Occasionally I notice about 2-3 times a week that the screen never shuts off and when I check my settings it is set at never. Any idea why its doing this?
