Are there any applications out there to take the place of the HTC phone display? It seems kind of clunky, unintuitive and easy to miscue to me. I was wondering since it seems like there are superior non-native apps for every other phone function, but I haven't found one for the phone itself.

I think at this point the cheapest option would be for me to buy a replacement digitizer ($65) and try and do the replacement myself. Does anyone know how to do this? Or know of a youtube link or website that has step by step instructions for replacing the digitizer?

View 10 Replies View RelatedI'm trying a run without sense to hopefully relieve a lot of the lag problems I've been having. I know I should root, but I don't want to while I'm still under warranty and I'd like to give it a try without to see if I would like it without sense. I have launcher pro installed with home switcher and that seems to have changed over fine(with one incident where my sense home came up). The problems I'm having are with the messaging and dialer apps. I've installed handcent and like it, but I still get the notifications for the sense messaging app, so now I get two every text messaged. Also I've installed Dialer one, but the green phone button still fires up the stock dialer. Is there any way to fully replace these parts without rooting? I also really want the calendar app back, is the launcher pro one similar enough? I like seeing the whole month and being able to scroll with just the widget.

At the end of November I can renew my contract early and I'll get a new Android based phone. Are there any phones worthy of replacing the Motorola Droid? There's no denying that the Droid had/has the biggest community and developer base but what is the next Droid phone that will be the biggest hit with the community and developers? That's the phone I want to get.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI want to add my gmail settings to the native mail app and use that for gmail instead of using the gmail app. I dont like how you cant attach a file other than a photo using the gmail app and I like the layout of the native mail app.If you add your gmail account to the native mail app can you still receive push email? I plan on disabling the sync settings for google in the main settings but that shouldn't affect an account added to the main mail app.

My friend suggested it to me and I like its setup over the default Messaging app, so I wanted to delete it. But would deleting the default Messaging app also delete all the texts in general? Or would they carry over to the Handcent app and stay there even after deleting the Messaging app. I don't want to lose some of the texts that I already had.

The store hooked up gmail, and I accidentally put my gmail info into the native mail program thinking it was gmail. Now I get two notifications, and have two programs checking mail. Can I just delete the native mail app, or will this cause problems? Any way to just turn it off/remove my gmail info from the application?
Is there any way to change the four main icons (I'm not sure what to call it) that appear at the bottom on every page? I downloaded Handcent to use for my SMS because I like the way it looks better, etc. But I wish I could just remove the "Messaging" and replace it with Handcent so that I have access to it from every page instead of having to click on the Handcent App every time.

Calendar and all that does great and emails to regular inbox are fine It will once and then it seems to quit. One more thing is I wanted to try k-9 but when I do it does not act right at all. It has trouble sending messages and gets lots of errors when checking. Does anyone have a doc about setting up k-9 to sync with outlook web access?

1 - On my google calendar I am able to enter reoccuring items and they sync with my eris as they should. I also see all the various holidays on my google cal but these items do not sync to my eris. Is there a way to get the holidays to port over to my native eris calendar?
2 - My contacts has a place for defining a contact's birthday and anniversary. How can I get these user defined dates to populate to my eris calendar? Seems like this should be simple functionality no?

I have root access thanks to Universal 1 Click, but I don't see a way to remove this application. It keeps starting itself and I don't ever use it. While I do use apps on my phone I don't even play music on it.
Using AndExplorer I can navigate to my App folder and see that I can reinstall by clicking on the Amazommp3.apk file, but it won't let me delete that file and there is no uninstall option.
