Is there any way to change the four main icons (I'm not sure what to call it) that appear at the bottom on every page? I downloaded Handcent to use for my SMS because I like the way it looks better, etc. But I wish I could just remove the "Messaging" and replace it with Handcent so that I have access to it from every page instead of having to click on the Handcent App every time.

Hello everyone. I recently got the MyTouch 3G so I'm a new Android user and I'm very happy to be one. Anywho, I was wondering about the Handcent application. My friend suggested it to me and I like its setup over the default Messaging app, so I wanted to delete it. But would deleting the default Messaging app also delete all the texts in general? Or would they carry over to the Handcent app and stay there even after deleting the Messaging app. I don't want to lose some of the texts that I already had.

I am using a brand new Sprint EPIC 4G.The application Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.I did some google searching and the best I could find was clearing the cache and program data from the mail applicatoin. It isn't working either, none of the fixes apply.I also tried installing "Handcent" and it does not appear to be working either. I am not showing any messages in any programs and can only tell I have a txt message if I review the "notifications" from here I can send a response but thats it.

I have figured everything out for the most part. but i purchased the launcherpro plus or whatever for my samsung epic and i customized the dock icons. They are really small i don't know why. but is there anyone out there that knows how to make the dock icons bigger?

One thing that drove my wife nuts when we were checking out the phone is that every time she hit the Home key, that Google search box was right there on the main screen staring at her. View 11 Replies View RelatedThe problem I'm having is when ever I set a default notification tone it plays good and loud when I test it but when I actually get a text the volume drops below half making it very hard to hear the phone when ever I get a text. Is there a reason its doing this? I have the notification all the way up and it still drops when I get a text. At first I thought it was a issuse with handcent sms but its doing it with the default messaging app as well. Is anyone else having this problem?

So far I was able to get @rovo89 Red Clock tutorial to work, and i've even decompiled a few xposed battery tweak mods but i can't seem to replace the charging icons on my s4.

So whenever I receive a picture mail, it shows the option to download but the download always fails. Why is this and how can it be solved?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI just bought my new Epic, it's my first smartphone, and I am loving it so far. I only have one small complaint. This has happened to me a good couple times now and it's slowly becoming a bit of a nuisance. I set up all my little icon shortcut thingys and all my widgets on all my different screens, getting them just the way I like them. Then if my phone is powered off and then powered back on, they will ALL be gone. The only thing that is still there are the widgets like the clock and calendar. But all my little icons disappear. Is there something I can do to keep this from happening? Is it because of the Advance Task Killer?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just switched from Evo to Epic. (Loved Evo but mine had known h/w issue where screen does not respond to touch).
The Evo had a Google search icon that was the same square size as other icons. The Epic has the big horizontal one. I would like smaller icon to regain some real estate. Possible?
Also, on my default 5th home screen are icons for Cnn, youtube, and ESPN. I would like icons for my fave websites. Any easy way to do that. I bookmarked them in my browser, but that involves opening browser and clicking bookmarks, etc.
I'm trying to figure out how to change the icons at the bottom of the screen but I'm failing miserably at it...or I'm beginning to think that it's just not possible?
Specifically I'm wanting to change the Messaging icon out to be the one for Handcent (or any other messaging icon other than stock). Yes, I realize I can set it to point to use Handcent by default, but when you initially open it, it doesn't start to use Handcent initially, only once you go into conversations does it start to use the Handcent application.
Is there a way to do this like there is on the other Galaxy devices or is this completely locked down on the Epic and I need to download another UI in order to change this?
Just received my Epic via the little Brown truck yesterday, and I'm loving most everything about it so far.One niggle is the gap between the 'top' half of the phone (the sliding part with the screen) and the chrome trim ring is variable.While resting camera down on a table, the gap is consistent all around. but if you were to hold the device by the 'top' part, the gap along the side where the volume buttons are grows to almost the thickness of a quarter ($0.25). It's almost if it's wobbling on the slider mechanism, when the slider is CLOSED (unlike when open, as in other posts).Another niggle is that the button to the left of the HOME button is not equally lit across the image (looks like a page).It's almost as if the image fades from left (bright) to right (dim).Finally, the camera is completely crap. Even in a well lit office environment, the image that is centered and 'focused' before the shutter falls comes out blurred and ugly.Strangely, the background is crystal clear.Flash or not makes no difference.Otherwise, all my pixels are lively, the function keys on the bottom are all equally responsive to the touch I would expect to make them work, and voice quality is great.So is my experience unique, like the device is a lemon, or is it consistent with this gizmo?

I have a few questions about how Chomp works on the Epic: If I download Chomp, will I still get notifications at the top notification pull down on the home page? Or are the only notifications given on the actual chomp icon? (I don't want to have two notifications.) I was also wondering if I would still be able to use the "speak to text" feature that the stock app has? Lastly, there is a set of permanent icons on the home screen (phone, contacts, messaging, apps). When I click messaging, would it go to chomp?

I only get my email to show up on my inbox on my phone ONLY when i open email. I currently have it set to to check email every 5 minutes but this is obviously not happening. and i dont get a blinking LED when i get a SMS, Text message.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIts not a huge issue but its a little annoying because it made it easier to see which one was which in the thread. The contact icon is missing once you go into messaging but its visible everywhere else: people, widgets etc. The contact even has a local contact picture that is different from the facebook one and its still not showing up.
If I unlink the contact from everything else its displays the local contact icon but I like having them linked to facebook. Once I link them back again its blank.
Its a google contact synced with facebook and the icon is coming from facebook. Its a rooted Evo on the most recent stock ROM.
How do you move an icon in application menu from one screen to another? I know I can rearrange icons by clicking menu button then edit, but I can't move an icon from one screen to another. The same goes in application menu and in home menu.
View 7 Replies View RelatedSince I got the original 2.2 update for my Droid, whenever I get a new text message and slide down the notification bar and select the new message, it takes me to the main text message window rather than the actual thread to reply to the person. It is really annoying because it requires an extra step. I figured it would be fixed with the second 2.2 update but it didn't. I called Verizon and they called Motorola and nobody knew of the problem so they shipped me out a new phone and it still does it! I am not sure if I am the only one experiencing this or if its normal. It doesn't do it 100% of the time but closer to 90% probably.
