Aug 19, 2010Can someone tell me if there is a way to customize all the individual notifications (email, facebook, twitter, text)?I've looked through the phone and it looks like they group all the notifications together.Also, coming from blackberry, I was used to getting notifications at the top of the screen for facebook, twitter, email, pageonce and other apps that had PUSH information. Is there any way to do that too? I'm also trying to look into the TelusStone flash.I've done a search and haven't come up with much. Does anyone have some info or feedback on it as far as what it does and takes away?

Dec 15, 2009I have multiple songs/ringtones/notifications that I would like to use. I want a single person within my contacts to have two different ringtones; one for when they call and one for when they send a message.
I can set the individual's ringtone within my people settings, I can set the default notification tone within my SMS program (still debating between ChompSMS and HandCent, suggestions?) Is it possible (as anyone knows) to set a notification for an individual within a SMS app while having it leave the default application notification alone as well as the custom ringtone within the phonebook settings I have set for individual people?

Jan 14, 2014I am very new to Android (using non-rooted LG Nexus 5) and am having a great problem finding a feature that I depended on regularly with my Blackberry.
I occasionally receive an email from an automated server that indicates an emergency with one of the systems I manage. In Blackberry, I had setup a custom notification based on the email source address, and it would play a custom ringtone (Star Trek Red Alert) at top volume whenever a email from that contact was received. Android only allows custom "ringtones" on a per-contact basis, but these ringtones are only used for phone calls. There is no similar setting for SMS/MMS or Email messages that I can find on Android. I think it is strange that it is not part of the base functionality -- I am beginning to suspect it is a patent issue and it never will be added.
I can't find a good third-party application to provide this additional feature for email.I have tried several and found none adequate (for example, they fail with "Unfortunately has stopped.", they create separate connections to email servers and suck the battery dry, or they are built for SMS/MMS only).

Nov 30, 2009So iv downloaded some pictures from Dolphin Browser using Google Images. Now every time the browser launches, I get notifications that my image downloads are complete. Is there any way to get rid of them? I hit "Clear Notifications" but that's only temporary. Its not that big of an issue but it's kinda bother some and it makes my top bar look really cluttered.

Is it possible to have one tone for Yahoo a different one for GMail another for text messages ect.....? Right now the phone only has one tone for all notifications. Aug 2, 2010Just purchased a slightly used Eris and I'm liking it so far. I've been reading this forum and learned a ton of valuable info. I think the biggest annoyance for me right now is the lack of a repeating reminder when calls/texts are received. I've seen a few threads regarding this. I have downloaded Missed Call For Android 2.x and also turned on the LED(trackball) flashing notification. Both work initially, but only for about 5-10 minutes and then they will stop flashing. It seems like the Missed Call flashing LED stops working before the trackball stops.

Jan 7, 2010Is there a way to turn off the weather notifications in this app? We have been having a crappy snowstorm all day, and I keep getting the notification no matter how many times I clear it. It just keeps coming back every few minutes or so. And every time it comes back, it makes a notification sound and stays in my notification bar up top... also, it happens to be my text message sound, so it's driving me crazy.The only option in the settings is for Units of Measure.Oh and also annoying, the notification doesn't go away when you click on it to check it, like with messages or e-mails. You have to actually go back to your notifications bar and click Clear Notifications.

Apr 7, 2010On 1.5 I used to get notifications all the time when someone uploaded new photos to flicker or changed their facebook account. Now I'm using the 2.1 leak v2 and I don't get any updates at all. What gives? I liked that feature. Any way to turn it back on?
And I do have the option set to update every 2 hours in the settings.

Dec 11, 2009I am so confused on notifications. This is what I see happening by default.
SMS/MMS - Trackball
Exchange Email - Trackball
Gmail - Green LED
Google Talk - Green LED
Missed Call - Green LED
In my Settings --> Sound & Display --> Notifications --> Notification flash ... everything is checked for Trackball.
I'm curious is to how this is working for everyone else. I wish the trackball would only light up for SMS/MMS.
HTC Droid Eris :: Disabling Flickr Notifications?
Dec 7, 2009I picked up an Eris this weekend and I'm loving it! This is my first "smartphone" so I'm pretty pumped! I recently setup a link to my Flickr account and keep getting notifications everytime one of my contacts posts something to their account (can get overwhelming quickly). I tried looking for a way in-phone and on Flickr to disable the notifications but haven't found a solution so far. Anyone have an idea on how to disable/modify Flickr notifications?

Mar 26, 2010I've Had my Eris for about 3 weeks now and I absolutely love it but, my notifications just stopped sounding. I've seen this brought up in different forums but I have yet to see any answers. I'm wondering If anyone is currently or has recently had this same problem if so how did you fix it? Or is it still going on.
Also I've made sure that I do have notifications set to sound, they just don't, it just vibrates. I've even thought that I wasn't giving the phone enough time to sound but after seeing the trackball light up i let it sit to see if it will eventually sound and it never does.

Jan 7, 2010I've got a lot of contacts that are synced with their Facebook profiles and I really like the integration with the phone, especially in the 'People' app.
But I'm confused about how the notifications work. I get periodic notifications about updates from certain people, but when I click this notification it takes me to the People app's group tab, but none of the people who were in the notification show up here as having updates. It's usually just different peoples' birthdays or updates.
I tried refreshing the list here, but it still doesn't pull up any new people usually.
