View 6 Replies View RelatedI tried to assign custom ringtones for few people. I did go to People -> click contact name that I want to change -> under Information tap, click Ringtone -> change ringtone -> After I pick custom ringtone -> Click OK button. Simple and Easy. But, when I test with another phone that I already assign ringtone, it doesn't work!
I thought that it didn't save it, but it was still pointing my custom ringtone. Well, second thought that my custom ringtone might be working, so I go to Setting -> Personalize -> change default ringtone for same MP3 file. it works! However, I couldn't make it for specific contact. Is there any thing that I did it wrong or should I turn on or off something?
Whenever I want to send a text message to my friend Bob, i'll type "bob" in the recipients name and no phone number will come up even though he is stored in my contacts. However, whenever i want to send a text to Jill, I simply type "Jill" in the recipients box in the SMS and her phone number pops up. In order to send a text message to Bob, i have to go into Contacts-->Search-->Send text. It's more of a nuisance than anything else and was wondering if there was a remedy for it. I have tried re-programming the contacts information into the phone but the problem still exists.

I've googled and done searches and manually looked through the threads here on AF I even checked the documentation the X came with. My Fiancee just got the X and was setting it up and she was looking for a way to set up individual ringtones for certain contacts the way she had them set up on her Droid but there doesn't seem to be an option to do it on the X. Does anyone happen to know anything about this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedPicked up my Droid this morning and cannot figure out how to set a ringtone for calls received from a contact. I can set the general ringtone, but not any contact-specific ringtones. The manual (page 21) says it is doable: "Tip: When editing a contact, you can set a ringtone, address, and other details that will be saved on your phone."but I find nothing in the edit contact screen that lets me select a ringtone for it.Can anyone give me the steps?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe only thing I miss about the Blackberry is being able to have each Contact have a different ringtone for each service. My husband had 2 different ringtones. One for calls, one for texts.Iand so on for everyone. All my contacts had 2 or 3 different ringtones for each of them depending on what was cominng through.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've transfered ringtones from my PC to the Droid X, but can't for the life of me figure out how to assign a particular ringtone to a particular contact. I've read some of the threads about other models of phones but the solutions there don't work with the X.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI can only get the default ring tone to work - and not the specific ring tones assigned for certain people (wife, mother, siblings, etc.) The default ring tone I have is the Mananamah (muppet song) and is located in the same folder "ringtones" as the other ones. WTH?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs this possible to do? I see where I can have seperate ringtones for each contact but what about different text notification sounds for different contacts?
View 4 Replies View RelatedEver since I have received the 2.1 update. I can't seem to find how I select a ringtone for a particular contact. I don't see the option in the contact list anymore where you add a new contact. Anyone know how to do this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I go to sleep for the night, I'd like the texts or calls from specific contacts (family members) to 'ring' through to my Galaxy Note 2, and have the texts or calls from all other contacts not 'ring' me while I'm asleep.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI only have about 5 contacts with assigned ringtones (for the people who call me the most) and ANY incoming call from ANYONE now rings with the default ringer.Nothing works. Just the default ringtone every time.Any ideas/thoughts? Doesn't seem to be a big enough issue to cause a stir yet, thus I haven't seen any helpful threads on the subject.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIn my previous phone I could set different ringtones for those in my contacts list and then another ringtone for those numbers not in my contacts list so I could tell by the ringtone if someone was calling that was in my contacts list or not.On the Hero there doesn't seem to be any way to do this.I was also able to set different volume levels for various notifications (ie, louder for phone calls and quieter for email and sms notifications).Does anyone know if this is possible on the hero?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to be able to automatically remove spam callers from my call log and not be notified they called. I've set up a contact that goes directly to voice-mail. I'm using google voice, so I can set the contact as spam, so it will put any voice-mails in the inbox. That took care of the ringing and interuption, but I'd still like a little more opaqueness.
Is there an app that can remove a caller from the log, or at least clear the notification? I've checked out the various call blocker apps, but thus far, I haven't been able to confirm if any can clear the notification. They mainly seem to answer and hang up.
Any way to set colors to emails from specific contacts. For instance all emails from by brother would be listed blue and all emails from my wife would be listed orange.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am wondering if there is a way to forward calls from certain contacts or groups to a different number? Basically I have a group of contacts that I don't want to receive calls from during the day, so I want to foward those contacts to another number where they can leave a message. I don't want my Hero to ring or be alearting me that they called or that I missed their call.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have been a Blackberry user for years, and finally ditched my old berry friend, for a Galaxy Nexus. Thus far, I have had to Google how to's for everything I've wanted to customize: ie ringtones, changing default tones, even the colour of my sms window. I've been able to figure everything out, but am stuck on creating custom tones for emails from specific contacts. With my trusted berry, custom tones for email and sms were linked together for my contacts. So whether I received a txt, or an email from "John", I would hear the specific tone I'd set for him. With my Nexus, I've learned the same is not true. I can only customize contact sounds for sms (and of course, only with an App, I really like Ringo btw). Emails, not so much. They all come in under the one tone, regardless of who it was from.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy boyfriend has two email accounts on his phone. He wants to backup his personal contacts to his personal account and his more important contacts to his other account. When he tried to do this it doubled the contacts on his phone. (Basically went from 50 contacts to 100 contacts).
Is there any possible way of doing this?
I seem to be having a sync issue with my Droid. When I add a contact to my phone, it doesn't sync into "My contacts" in Gmail; it'll sync into "All contacts". So, a couple of questions:
1) How can I get the phone to add new contacts created on my Droid into "My contacts" in Gmail?
2) I'm trying to understand the point of "All contacts". Why does Gmail want to keep a list of anyone that I've ever sent an email to? Otherwise, it'll be simple enough to just merge the two groups and call it a day.(Note: When I bought my Droid I did NOT have the VZW sales person transfer my contacts or any data from my old Blackberry to my Droid. I used Google Sync on my BB and synced my contacts from my BB to Gmail, then when I got the Droid, it automatically pulled my contacts from Gmail.)(FWIW, yes, I did a search and found two great threads: http://androidforums.com/support-troubleshooting/15042-how-do-i-push-droid-contacts-back-gmails-my-contacts.html and http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid/15069-contacts-dont-really-synchronize.html but I have a different situation than most of those guys and I'd actually prefer to sift through and merge a couple of contacts from "All contacts" to "My contacts" every once in a while than deal with a backup and factory reset.)
I currently have my DX running rooted, deodexed Froyo. Can I install themes (say ones made for D1) now? Or are themes phone specific.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI set a ringdroid custom ringtone for my wife's phone calls. A few times in the last week, her call will not activate that ringtone, instead just ringing the default. Also, the last call didn't even have her Caller ID or photo... just the phone number... it's like it didn't recognize she was a contact at all? The only thing I can think of was I was using the music player when she called... is is possibly the "cut-in" that caused the disconnect? Don't know, but I've tried to duplicate it, and it reverts back to "normal" every time I try.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed the Nimbuzz app today. It has system access to prevent the phone from sleeping. Which really sucks because I can't leave it running in the background so I stay logged on. If I keep the Nimbuzz services running then The display won't time out on inactivity. If you close the services then You can't get the incoming chats.
Is there away to deny certain access to apps but allow the rest and install it? From my experience I've only seen that it's all or nothing.
I'm pretty new to RSS feeds but I was hoping that somebody could suggest a solution to my problem.
I want to be notified by my Droid when any xbox deals appear on slickdeals.net . I figure an RSS reader can do this but I'm not sure how to set it up. Would anybody be willing to explain this to me?
I got 2 Droid X's last Saturday. If you hold mine and my wife's side by side (in the house), she gets 3G and 3 to 4 bars, while mine is 1X or lower with no bars 90% of the time.
The folks at my local store did a *228, option 2 on my phone and asked me to the same when I got home. Distance between the store and my house is about 9 miles. I did this. Still no help.
So i looked at my wife's phone and the PRL version on her phone is 65169, the version on mine is 52105. Obviously her list sees better towers or something. Is there any way to get my phone to set at that same version of the PRL list? A way to get a specific PRL on the phone?
I get good reception most everywhere else, but the fact that the exact 2 phones have such vastly different reception in the same place is frustrating.
