How can I stop Google from restoring the apps I had installed? I wipe my phone and try to start from scratch, but Google keeps re-installing the apps I had installed. I do not check the option during setup to sync that data and I even went as far as uninstalling them all before I did a wipe but they were still reinstalled! How can I stop this from happening?

Sometimes, well actually a lot of the time, when I flash a new ROM after wiping down the entire phone I find that after signing into Google in the beginning stages of the activation that suddenly apps begin appearing.
I've found that if I skip the Google integration setup until after the initial process is completed the apps don't auto restore.
But where can I find this cache that google is pulling this stuff from and completely delete this?
We can finally get 2.x applications on our phone. Whats the best ones? "aside from the obvious Google Applications or the ones that are on the phone already."
View 2 Replies View RelatedAbout 2 days ago all the Google applications on my phone started being very unreliable. The one I use most, Gmail, is constantly restarting. Usually the first time I try to open a message the whole app restarts and then I can open the message, but often it will restart again before I get through the whole thing. There is no error message of any kind, it just restarts. I've had similar, but less frequent, issues with Google Talk and Google Voice that started at the same time. I originally thought it was just that I was out of memory, but I tried killing everything with TaskKiller and it didn't fix anything.
I think the only change I've made to my phone recently is installing Skype and I kind of need it at the moment.
my google calendar and my gmail sync fine, but contacts gets the spinning wheel that never stops. Is there any way to fix this without rebooting and wiping everything off of my phone? How do you even reboot anyway? Other than this issue (I'm on 2.1, not rooted or anything) everything on the phone works just fine.

I'm going through my phone trying to free up some space. I use Uninstaller Pro to delete apps. Today I noticed that Google Maps is listed four times in Uninstaller Pro. Each one has the same version number and the same download date. I don't want to uninstall the program completely, but if it has somehow installed itself three extra times, I'd like to remove the copies. Root Explorer only lists the .apk one time Has anyone else had this problem or know of a reason why there would be four copies of Google Maps listed?
View 5 Replies View RelatedToday the rom bug bit me and I tried about 3 or 4 different roms (after TIbackup and nand backup of course) including xtrROM and ELB, hated them all, and decided to go back to my beloved sense-able 3.1 nand backup.
wiped, restored, and now all my market links are gone. (except for gmaps, for some reason). TIbackup refuses to even install again from the market because the package signature is incorrect, or something. TIb said it was supposed to restore market links.any suggestions? is there even any way to restore a market link besides just reinstalling the program outright? I found this thread http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-hero/81290-market-does-not-see-all-my-downloads-after-nandroid-restore.html as reference. All my programs will show as "installed" if I search them in market.either way, sense-able was definitely the sexiest-out of the box ROM I tried. everything else without sense was just ugh, looked like I'd loaded up a G1. couldn't tell a speed difference at all with the same setCPU profile, and xtrROM was so bad on battery I only made it through few hours before uninstalling. I cannot live with the sense keyboard and search-dialer.
Does anyone know how to delete all phone data from google so that when i perform a factory reset that my settings and applications DO NOT get reinstalled? Normally the reason to do a factory reset is to start fresh.
View 3 Replies View RelatedA few weeks ago I switched my EVO 4G to the standard Android 2.1 UI through the widely publicized "clear defaults" and "force stop", then pressing "Home" and selecting to default to the Android launcher. This worked very well. Unfortunately for me, I thought this was just going to be a test drive. I wanted to see how it compared to Sense UI, but now I can't figure out how to re-activate Sense. According to the description of the process for other Android phones with Sense, you are supposed to be able to turn Sense back on by doing essentially the same process. Select application "HTC Sense", and do "clear defaults" and "force stop" again. Then press the Home button, and select to default to Sense UI when asked.
This doesn't work on my EVO 4G. When I perform these steps, pressing the Home button has no effect. There is no popup asking which UI to use as default. The standard Android UI remains in effect. I've done a fair amount of google searching, but haven't seen any explanation how to do this so far. I'm hoping that it's possible without wiping the phone back to its initial state. Anyone know how to restore Sense? I'd like to experiment with it, at least until the day Froyo comes out for it.
My battery keeps on over heating when i charge it. My battery started acting funny this week when i plugged it in to the charger and it would charge stop charge stop continuous. Should i take it up to Verizon and see what they say.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter following Matlock's post about upgrading to 2.1 I tried to restore all of my files using Sprite Mechanic. (Going back and re-reading his post he says that it doesn't work in 2.1-DOH). After installing Astro I tried re-installing Sprite Mechanic from the backup folder that I made with Sprite Mechanic thinking that was the way to get all of the back-up apps out of the back-up folder and onto the phone. I started Sprite Mechanic and proceeded to push the "Restore" tab and it brought up a list of all backed-up apps. I scrolled through them, deciding which ones I really wanted back and which ones I could do without, and then pushed the "Restore" button. Well, my phone froze up and would only display the status bar across the top. I tried pushing different buttons, but to no avail....

View 2 Replies View RelatedGot an eris here programmed for alltel's data, i did it myself by changing values in the programming menu, i now have a droid x on my alltel i programmed and want to give the eris to my buddy on vzw how do i restore it back to factory defaults? Its activated but data doesn't work and calls are flaky and sms is flaky too.. A system restore of the phone doesn't return the programming menu of the phone back to verizon's default. Stays at alltels values. .. its running latest 2.1 vzw OTA.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've noticed whenever I use a new ROM and restore from a update.zip (with all apps, data..etc) there are a few problems...
1) Applications restore correctly, but Accounts, Wi-Fi Access points...etc do not... I have to boot into the ROM and restore them via TitaniumBackup.
2) Restored applications work, but some don't start on Launch like Whatsapp, Viber, Facebook, Facebook Messenger but applications like Dropbox, Skype (autorunner), GMail, Yahoo Mail do and every single one of these apps has been ran once manually. If I used Xposed and "Bootmanager" I can visually see that they should run on launch as it says they are going to however they don't. The only way I can get them to run at launch is to uninstal the application and reinstall it manually (thus losing my data for the app, as restoring the data only doesn't work).
I Installed Smoked Glass V5.0 from V4.5. I ended up doing it twice, and to make a long story short I lost my files in AK Notebook.
Here's my question:
1. Should I backup my current configuration
2. Then "Restore" my backup prior to upgrade
3. Grab my files (hoping they will be there) toss them on my mac
4. Then just "Restore" back to where I am now?
Need those files by tomorrow, any assistance is much appreciated. It's not that it's an emergency without them, but I will have to do some legwork to gather that info again.
Twice a day now my phone will delete all my sms texts.. I use Handcent.. Is there anything i can do to stop this?

I am using my old verizon cell number and just using the google voice for the messaging function.
I just would want the google voice icon to light up and then i can go right to the program.

Lately the phone just starts vibrating and won't stop (no calls, no msgs). I have to take the battery out and leave it out for a while. If I try to put it back to soon it starts vibrating again.

View 11 Replies View RelatedHaving serious issues setting up Google Apps corporate email on my DX. POP and SMTP settings, email add, password all checked and rechecked for accuracy. Still no dice. Am being told by Google Apps support that I need to hard reset the device, setup corporate Google Apps email first, and then reinstall and re-setup everything else. This seems like a hail mary approach to me, and one that I'm still not sure is going to work.
