View 11 RepliesI just got the htc eris and i am wondering what are peoples top applications. I wanted this phone for the applications and now that I got it I am having trouble finding applications or even thinking of any that I might want to use.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI really enjoyed the Movies App from Flixster - but since the update it hasnt been working. What are favorite applications?
-Bonsi Blast - Greatt game to pass some time
-Advanced Task Killer - Works perfect for me, Ends Applications that are running in the background
-i Music - Best Music app - Allows you to download MP3 for free
-Shaazam - Displays song titles for the unknown - works awesome with i Music
-Sports Tap - has a great widget that allows you to just show your current fav team (i have bruins, shows live game score in widget and also sends alerts during game to your notifcation bar)
I would like to hear what you guys have or think is a useful/great application
I recently had to do a hard reset on my phone and everything was saved except all of my applications. Is there anyway to back them up so if this happens again it will take me 5 min to get my phone back to how it was instead of an entire day

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been reading this forum for a couple weeks and I wanted to get your advice on what mods/apps I should make/install first? A little bit about me. I am a Family Practice Physician Assistant and I also work part time in an ER. I have a few apps on it but rarely use them because it's not all that easy / quick to use. I also have an Ipod touch that I have loaded with medical apps that I will transfer over to my new phone. All of the apps I use seem to be available for Android except for epocrates - but according to their website this is coming "soon" which could mean days or months. I wanted to have ONE device to use medical apps and actually use as a phone/web browser, and since I REFUSE to EVER deal with AT&T, and I really didn't like the keyboard on the droid, the ERIS seemed perfect. And now that Verizon is running a buy one get one free deal, with my $50 credit from Verizon I will be getting BOTH phones for only $49. My wife will probably only use texting and the basic smartphone tools - calender, text etc, so she is pretty happy with whatever. So I ask you experts and tiral and error veterans out there. what apps should I get first? What mods/tricks should I do to the phone first? What has been the best thing you have done with your phone?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am new to eris and just wondering if the was a way to turn off apps I never use? I got a task killer but 10 minutes later, I got apps running I never opened killing battery life
View 4 Replies View RelatedJust can't seem to figure out how to uninstall stupid applications like footprints that come with the phone. Or at least disable them from ever starting.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a stock Eris and the other day my sdcard went corrupted. I learned this from when I got the new swype beta email and went to download the .apk. It told me a sdcard was required (I had never taken the sdcard out of the phone to being with). Anyways I brought it to verizon and the guy said it was done and gave me a 16gb card (8 was in there previously). So now I was able to download the .apk file; however when I try to click on it to install it says I can't because there is not enough space on Phone.
Now I don't know how much for it is required. But I have 14gb on the card available and 25mg on the internal phone storage. Now since uninstalling swype and trying to download I haven't added any more apps that would take up additional space. I've actually uninstalled a few, so I should have more space than I did before this whole thing started.
We can finally get 2.x applications on our phone. Whats the best ones? "aside from the obvious Google Applications or the ones that are on the phone already."
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs anyone else irked by the proportion of apps that cause force-close on the Eris? About 1 in 3 (maybe more) seem to do this. I assume developers are writing code for 2.0 mostly by now, but still. I would think there had be SOME level of back compatibility. It's not like I'm downloading obscure applications. These are typically highly rated applications found on the bigger review sights and AndroLib. For instance, just today, two WiFi apps and Shuffle both caused my Eris to crash. And apparently something else I haven't determined yet. What are other's experiences/success rates with applications? I'll append this post later with apps known to cause crashes. In fact, until the 2.0 upgrade, it might be a good idea for a sticky.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Moto Droid and was just playing around with my friends Droid Eris. I really like the HTC widgets (calender, email, txt and such). Has anyone gotten those onto the Moto Droid or found any like them?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI did a search and could not find any new info. on storing apps. on the SD card. Is there a way to run apps off of the sd card with OTA 2.1 and not ROOTING? any way to store apps on the card and then load them from the sd card when you want to use them?
View 4 Replies View RelatedBest cache clearing applications. Title says it all.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI'm fairly new to the forum but I've read up on some past threads that touched on my topic but I never really found a straight answer. I'm hoping this thread will help, but in my experiences with technology...We may never get a straight answer/ solution. I've followed some threads on the "low on space" icon. I've gone through and deleted lots unused apps and I've cleared many of my caches.
While deleting apps i noticed that more then half of the apps on my eris are apps that i haven't downloaded and/or came pre-loaded on the phone. I understand that some are essential to the functioning of the phone (like being able to sync with your pc, download apps, etc). But i've noticed apps like "footprints" and the amazon "mp3 store" that I really have no use for. While managing apps there is no option to delete or get rid of these apps...is there a way to safely do so? or do i really have to live with having very few apps on my phone? (because i really don't have many that I have actually downloaded myself) Sorry for the lengthy post...i want to answer as many questions as i know how before i start getting responses.
This is something that I have been trying to get my head around for a bit, and I did find one post over in the Inc forum that had a mix of applications that were good for traveling, but I wanted to see if anyone in here might be able to help with some ideas.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAbout 2 days ago all the Google applications on my phone started being very unreliable. The one I use most, Gmail, is constantly restarting. Usually the first time I try to open a message the whole app restarts and then I can open the message, but often it will restart again before I get through the whole thing. There is no error message of any kind, it just restarts. I've had similar, but less frequent, issues with Google Talk and Google Voice that started at the same time. I originally thought it was just that I was out of memory, but I tried killing everything with TaskKiller and it didn't fix anything.
I think the only change I've made to my phone recently is installing Skype and I kind of need it at the moment.
I did a search and couldn't find anything about doing this with the Eris.
Anyone know how to store applications on the micro SD card? Hopefully they will be usable.
Tried doing a search to no avail as I thought I had saw something on this a week or so ago. I am new here and keep having issues with my Eris. I stopped using a task killer as different ones I have tried tend to eat my battery. At any rate things were fine until today when I noticed that when I click on manage apps and view running apps things like Ebay and MP3 music store are running after reboot. I have forced closed them and when I go back into view the running apps they are still showing up. Why aren't they closing? They used to before today.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there an application or a way I can view running apps and processes on my phone from my PC? I have the eris (obviously not rooted but patiently awaiting the good news! good speed devs, good speed) with pdanet 2.41. I have a few applications I would like to mod while running.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhy don't apps on Android have Close/Exit? I never know if an app is truly turned off. Internet is perfect example. If I have navigated down a series of web pages and hit the return button, when I reopen the internet it's on that last page as opposed to the home page.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am rooted and wondering if there is an easy way to ditch the stock apps I don't need?
View 23 Replies View RelatedI just replaced my Eris because of a hardware problem. Is there a way to transfer my settings, apps and screen set-ups to the replacement Eris? I would love to find a way to back up everything and just put all of those things in my new phone without having to do everything over. If I have to it manually what do I do about the apps that I bought?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was just wondering if the droid eris could run heavy applications like gamelofts nova etc. If so is it a lot slower than the moto droid? And feel free to torture the noob.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to store apps to the sd card without rooting?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering how these apps work. I was looking into Pandora. Seems pretty cool but then I saw that in order for these "streaming" apps to work, you're basically paying for internet time the whole time you're listening to the music, right? If this is the case, why use this type of app vs. simply downloading the music files to the phone?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAre there any apps out yet that will keep track of your music library? I'm looking for something that pairs with the phone and a PC app that will keep track of how many times a play song and sync between the two and such. Sorta like Ipod software is an extension of the Itunes library. I realize that Itunes doesn't sync with the phone like that, nor the phone keeps track of such things.
