I'm simply trying to download the SDK for rooting/unrooting purposes, not to develop apps with Eclipse, etc. I've downloaded the USB drivers package in the SDK, but when I right click 'My Computer,' go to 'Properties' and go to Hardware, etc, etc, I do not get a yellow exclamation or any other icon next to my phone. Yes, USB Debugging is enabled. So, without the SDK, I cannot download Amon's Recovery Image, etc.

I recently bumped into a problem installing the latest SDK update (r6) in eclipse on Windows (7), which I ultimately "solved" and thought I would share. During the update of the SDK, the update process was trying to rename a folder (C:...android-sdk-windowsplatformsandroid-1.6) but failed to do so claiming that the folder was locked by another process.The alert window that popped up advised that on Windows this is often due to Anti Virus software monitoring the file system (or some such message).After dutifully disabling my local AV I still got the error. This prevents you from continuing with the installation and for fear of ending up with a half finished install I thought I would track down the culprit.I used ProcessExplorer (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/ sysinternals/bb896653.aspx) to find the file handle (in Process Explorer go to Find->File Handle or DLL.and type in the folder name, e.g. android-1.6).ProcessExplorer found two file handles, both of which were eclipse itself! In my case, I had ProcessExplorer force-close the handle(s), which is generally not a good idea but in this case it worked and the install was able to complete.I had some confidence that closing the handle would be OK because it seemed eclipse had a grip on a JAR file within this path, which would make some sense.I think in future it would be best to run the update outside of eclipse (ie launch the AVD manager directly), and indeed this may be in the guides for installing updates but I didn't check before I started the process.Just thought someone else may benefit from this.

I have a Motorola droid and I cant send pictures to her or vice versa. When I try to pair the bluetooths,I get a dialogue box that asks for a PIN,so as it suggests, i tried 0000 and 1234.It says on my Moto droid, cant connect with Eris and on my eris it says, paired but not connected. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.I am merely trying to send pictures and media back and forth between the two phones.

We both have the BUMP application where yo can bump info between the two phones. Well as the instructions suggest,I open bump on both phones and bump them. When i do this, it says "Please Bump Again" and then at the bottom it says "you were the only person that bumped" ON BOTH PHONES it says this.What is the problem here? I cant find any help on this,even on their website.
When outside or in the car, the landscape brightness of my Eris is rather dim making viewing difficult but when I switch back to the portrait view the screen is of normal brightness. Inside, switching from portrait to landscape viewing is not an issue. This was happening while on 1.5 as well. I have looked and played around with settings but can not seem to find a solution. Any suggestions?Another quirk, that arose with 2.1, is the keyboard. It seems to easily go to all caps, numbers, or exits with the slightest variance off of the A, M or the space key. My daughter's Eris is having the same issue with the keyboard. Any suggestions for a better keyboard?Eris is my first smart phone and I am loving the experience.

NOTE: I DIDN'T LOSE ANY DATA AFTER THE UPGRADE, but some people might. I didn't have much installed/setup. My gmail and contacts synced up, my messages were still all there, but my home screens were different.

As far as I know, Leak Jumpers are out of luck. From what i've heard, V3 leak = Official OTA..(or pretty dang close)
First, download this OTA file:

Rename it to update.zip and put it on the SD card in the TOP LEVEL (root) Directory. So if your SD Card comes up as the F: drive, it will be F:update.zip

It then deleted all of my contacts.So I deleted Facebook, re-stored all my contacts and reloaded Facebook. However, now it gets as far as installing and it never stops. It just stays on Installing.However, the FB app works fine on the phone itself.Is this a Market glitch? Is there anyway I can purge it from out of my downloads section?

My wife currently has and Eris with the OTA 2.1 upgrade and we would like to see if a 2.2 version would make it run better.
I'm trying to go from the Froyosense 37 to the xtrROM and I'm not sure I understand the directions I have been trying to follow and I don't want to mess up my phone or end up with a brick
I have repartitioned the SD card like it says to do and "thought" I did a back up of the previous SD card because I copied to my computer. I've downloaded the new xtrROM zip file and from here I am stuck.
These are the instructions which I'm sure are perfectly clear.
TO INSTALL:
1. YOU MUST HAVE A ROOTED PHONE WITH THE AMON_RA RECOVERY PARTITION (my phone is rooted - not sure about the recovery partition)
2. download the base xtrROM .zip file **did that **
3. complete NANDROID backup (not even sure how to do that)
4. copy the .zip file to the root of your sd card (can't find a file on what I saved to my computer that says "root")
5. From amon_ra recovery Wipe data/factory reset, Wipe Dalvik-cache, and Wipe SD:ext partition
6. flash the xtrROM file from sd card
7. reboot - first boot will take a while (i.e. over 10 mins - deodexed ROMs take longer on first boot)
8. complete short setup and let your accounts sync
9. you can save and run GScripts to personalize settings at any time
The only thing I've done with this phone is flash back to the stock ERIS ROM and then back to the Froyo 37 that is currently on it. I got it rooted and running that.
I rooted my phone last night and have installed a ROM manager and a file manager. I dislike the ROM that I have on my phone right now (I believe its plainjanev2 or something titled like that). I have found other ROM's that I want to download and have tried but they don't work. What am I doing wrong? Can someone give me the steps (and how to complete the steps) or send me to a detailed video/forum that will show me how to do this?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to search around but I'm not coming up with anything Is this possible to do?I miss being able to long-press a key to get its "shift" key (numbers, symbols, etc) instead of having to press the 123 key to switch layouts every time.I also liked how the "click" sound wasn't as loud as the typewriter-like sound on the non-Sense keyboard yes I like to have the sound and vibrate on - makes it feel like more of a button press instead of nothing I tried Swype before and still ended up going back to the HTC keyboard before I rooted. View 8 Replies View RelatedI am on the Froyo OTA and I rooted my phone (can't find the thread I used for that). I then started with titanium backup, got that bootstrapper and did a full backup and then tried to deodex my phone from this link (xUltimate). I kept getting errors on one of the steps and ran their little utility called Test.exe and it said my phone was already deodexed. So I thought maybe that happened when I rooted the phone. I then went to try install a theme that I liked, but I got an error so I had to recover. So I tried another one that was supposed to just make the top bar dark, had to recover. I then installed this one and it worked thought the text on the bar is not white and in the thread someone else had the same issue and was told that their phone is not deodex'd. So I guess my basic question is how can I tell if I am or not?

Whenever I try to move a file over it gets stuck, and when my display goes to sleep it won't wake up unless I pull the battery. Is this a ROM problem or something else? From it I can search maps, get flight info, etc. It has worked amazingly well. The past two days though, I have been getting connection errors more often than it works. View 2 Replies View RelatedI was using Fab's NexTheme R2 and updated to R3 without formatting and figured it would be fine, and it was for a while but then started to get laggy. So I decided to backup my apps with titanium and update to R3 from fresh, formatting DATA, SYSTEM, and CACHE.
Well when I restored my apps not all of them did. So I verified my backups and there were errors. Luckily I had an R2 nandroid backup so I went to that and updated to R3 again as before.
But I would still like to install R3 fresh but every time I run Titanium Backup and then verify my apps they all or most atleast come up saying there was an error. I clicked the "problems?" button and busybox should be ok so idk what to do.
I was having issues with ringtones and notifications, they just weren't working after 2.2. I was getting the wrong ringtone for certain people and no notification ringtones at all. So today I go into ringdroid to edit some of the ringtones and now ringdroid wont work. I click to edit a tone and I get error reading file on any file i click on. 2.2 is REALLY annoying me about now!! I'm thinking of doing a factory reset. Anyone else having issues with ringdroid?

I am running xtrROM 4.2.1, and I can successfully install 1.60, but when I try to use it, I get this message:"The Swype package you installed does not match the screen size of the device.
