Jul 14, 2010I'm simply trying to download the SDK for rooting/unrooting purposes, not to develop apps with Eclipse, etc. I've downloaded the USB drivers package in the SDK, but when I right click 'My Computer,' go to 'Properties' and go to Hardware, etc, etc, I do not get a yellow exclamation or any other icon next to my phone. Yes, USB Debugging is enabled. So, without the SDK, I cannot download Amon's Recovery Image, etc.

Nov 26, 2009I'm going to post this in the Motorola droid forum as well.I have searched all over and even read the user manual for my wife's droid eris. I have a Motorola droid and I cant send pictures to her or vice versa. When I try to pair the bluetooths,I get a dialogue box that asks for a PIN,so as it suggests, i tried 0000 and 1234.It says on my Moto droid, cant connect with Eris and on my eris it says, paired but not connected. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.I am merely trying to send pictures and media back and forth between the two phones.
Problem No. 2
We both have the BUMP application where yo can bump info between the two phones. Well as the instructions suggest,I open bump on both phones and bump them. When i do this, it says "Please Bump Again" and then at the bottom it says "you were the only person that bumped" ON BOTH PHONES it says this.What is the problem here? I cant find any help on this,even on their website.
HTC Droid Eris : Landscape Screen Dim Outside / 2.1 Keyboard Errors
May 24, 2010When outside or in the car, the landscape brightness of my Eris is rather dim making viewing difficult but when I switch back to the portrait view the screen is of normal brightness. Inside, switching from portrait to landscape viewing is not an issue. This was happening while on 1.5 as well. I have looked and played around with settings but can not seem to find a solution. Any suggestions?Another quirk, that arose with 2.1, is the keyboard. It seems to easily go to all caps, numbers, or exits with the slightest variance off of the A, M or the space key. My daughter's Eris is having the same issue with the keyboard. Any suggestions for a better keyboard?Eris is my first smart phone and I am loving the experience.

May 9, 2010I am currently running the leaked version of 2.1 from way back.I am now trying to install 2.1 v3.I have followed all the instructions, but when I turn my phone of, the hold vol down and end keys, nothing happens.It begins unzip, then stops, and just sits on the menu screen.Any ideas?

Jan 4, 2010I am a converted BB user. One of the features i cant seem to find that i liked on the BB is the select all/previous and mark as read function. I have tried pressing keys on the keyboard (if only there was a ctrl+A function) and looking under every menu i can find. Does anyone have any idea as to how i could do this?

Jan 27, 2010When i get an email (gmail) and I attempt to download the rest of the message, it gives me an error and tells me that there's not enough space and instructs me to delete messages. After deleting almost all messages, i still get the same error.
Do the messages get stored on my card or device? SHould i delete my podcasts that rest on my card?
HTC Droid Eris :: Need Two Email Accounts On Eris?
Jan 1, 2010I currently have a BB Storm1, but am thinking of getting the Eris today. I use my BB for both business and pleasure, and would need to have at least 2 email accounts on the phone. Is this a possibility (I assume it is, but I just need some confirmation). Also, does anyone have any pros/cons that I should know about the Eris? I really hate my my storm at this point, and think I am ready to leave BB entirely. Would love some thoughts.

Mar 30, 2010I used to get notifications just fine for received emails in my Mail app (which I use for gmail). I didn't change any settings, but now it no longer notifies me when I get a new email unless I actually go into the app so it downloads. I'm totally perplexed!

I am coming from the Storm and with one of my email accounts I had to forward emails to someone without an email account. I was able to on the Storm forward it as an mms and they received it on their phone that way.
My question, is there a way to forward my pop3 email as an mms or similar so that I don't have to re-type these emails as sms/mms texts?

After a couple days it just stops working and then I have to reenter all my info again.It is frustrating.Has this happened to anyone else? Jan 26, 2010I set my gmail account with the email icon/app on my home screen.I did it with the POP/IMPAP option because the other one wouldn't work (don't know what either of those mean).My problem is I can't get it to download my emails by itself. I have to go in and refresh. I have set it to check every 5mins and to alert me but it just wont unless I refresh. I'm assuming there's somthing I'm missing.Also, I just discovered there's a gmail app in that list that gets the emails instantly. It will make a sound with a new email, but I have to go to that list then to the gmail app to check.What I want is to be notified of my emails and have some icon be it the email one or the gmail one on my home page that lets me know I have an email.The other thing is the youtube app, but its seems lots of people are having that trouble.Also, how do I sync access my gmail contacts on my phone on either the gmail app or the email app. I can't see contacts on either right now.

Jan 25, 2010I was receiving emails on three different accounts up until this morning. I have been in the Application Manager stopping and clearing various services and apps I don't use. Obviously I have not done that to email, but are there any apps or services in there that affect email? I'm wondering if I messed something up by going too far parring down the device of stuff I don't use, or if this has happened to somebody else with an Eris and it's a bug.

Mar 16, 2010For the past two days I've been having trouble getting email in K-9. My main email account is Hotmail. I know when I set up K-9 it said that Hotmail might not work but it's worked flawlessly for a couple weeks now. Then, all of a sudden yesterday it stopped picking up emails. I have it set to poll every 15 minutes but even when I manually try to check for mail it finds nothing. I power cycled last night and that resolved it temporarily but now the issue has returned.

Dec 14, 2009I just switched to Eris from WinMo HTC XV6800. On the old phone I had all my email accounts, Exchange, Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail.I could open the mail app and see all accounts as a list and then select which account to access the new email as it would show which accounts had new mail. On the Eris, when I get a new email notification, I have no idea which email account the new mail is for. I have to open mail, then touch to open the pull down of accounts and then check each one , one by one until I dig out the new email. Is there an easier way to see all new mail in an overview list of all accounts on the Eris? All in all loving the phone after 48 hours but the email use seems clunky and slows down my productivity.

Dec 23, 2009Looking for a little help with email.I have a feeling I'm doing something wrong and need a little guidance. I currently have Gmail and Yahoo! accounts (more concerned about my Gmail). On my iPod Touch, I easily got them both into the iMail program, very quick and easy to do, seamless usage, etc.On the Eris, this is much more challenging for some reason. I figured the HTC mail would be about the same, but doesn't seem to be the case. I'm currently using the Gmail app for Gmail, which works, sort of. Not the most user friendly app. I can't seem to find a setting to check the email at intervals, have to hit 'menu' and refresh to bring in new mails. As it turns out, I have to do the same to get the app to connect and send mail as well. Seems like a lot of unnecessary steps.In addition, I can't seem to view my 'tasks.' However, I can do this through the mobile Gmail website, which almost seems more user friendly and easier to navigate.The other deal is the contacts, but I think I have to jump through a bunch of hoops to get this to work as well. My Gmail contacts won't sync as I have too many phone contacts. At least this is what I am able to assess from reading through the web. If anyone has any thoughts on this.Then there's the whole Yahoo! email thing. I have seen a couple posts I may try once I get the Gmail working correctly. Seems the Gmail should be seamless, must be missing something here.Email has been around for some time, hard to believe this takes any effort.
