Is there a way to disable the start up sound on the Eris? Also, it recognizes my WiFi network. I type in the password, it obtains the address, and then it says unsuccessful.

I just got my captivate a couple days ago and I am having issues connecting my phone to my WiFi at home. I successfully connected to my home WiFi when I first started my phone but now it always says "connection unsuccessful".
View 25 Replies View RelatedToday, I was connected to my WiFi at home with my Nexus One. I had to reboot my router, and all of a sudden, the Nexus One doesn't connect to my WiFi. When I tell it to, it just says Connection unsuccessful, touch to try again. I tried reboot my phone and router again and also deleting the connection and connecting again, and nothing. It doesn't connect.

I have not changed any of my router settings/phone settings, so this is strange. I have tried deleting link and re inputting key (this worked once, but now no longer works)
My router is on the recommended WPA-2 setting, and is regarded as a friendly router for the Hero (Netgear 834dg)
I'm trying to connect my phone to my network so I can use wifi. I found my network and entered the correct password and it will say its obtaining an ip address but then after a few seconds it will say unsuccessful what am I doing wrong?

I've got no problem with her downloading the universe when connected to my ADSL but preferably not through cellular data.
How I can go about disabling this "auto-disabling" of the Wi-Fi connection when it detects that it is slow? I couldn't find the option but I also find the S4's settings a tad disorganised.
I don't have this happening on my phone (BB10) so I wasn't expecting this to happen and she doesn't check the symbol at the top to see whether it's on Wi-Fi or not.
It is a Samsung Galaxy S4 running 4.3.1
I do know that downloading on Wi-Fi is faster than using data (or so I've read). My question is if I start a download using data connection then turn Wi-Fi on will the download see the Wi-Fi and jump on that to speed up our do I have to start on Wi-Fi for it to use Wi-Fi?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a verizon fios wireless router, model MI424WR, and i am having trouble maintaining a wireless connection with my eris. i have no problem with the initial connection, but after a few minutes the connection no longer works. my eris still shows that it is connected to my wireless network, but if i attempt to open a webpage, use twitter, etc it says that there is no connection. i changed my eris settings to never let the wireless sleep, but it has not seemed to work. any ideas on how to fix this.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wi fi isn't working it has found our connection ever since I turned it on now it doesn't. I am sitting right next to the computer but it cannot find it. I uninstalled 360 camera because that is the last app I installed. It was working fine untill I did the update. Than it did a force close a couple of times. That was yesterday than when I turned my phone on this morning it can not find the connection and the letter icon that shows you have mail is not up in the left hand corner of the phone. I really don't want to do a factory reset if I can help it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedNew to Eris and have set up Wifi to connect to home router (Verizon FIOS Actiontec). Successfully connected (accepted WEP) but get very weak signal and then lose connection. I've turned off "Mobile Network" but still have this problem. I am one room away from router and receive full signal on iMac and printer but only a dot under the Wifi symbol on the Eris. Exchanged a Motorola Droid (which received and held full signal -- as did my prior iPhone)) for Eris. VZW tech support clueless and immediately sent me to HTC support. While they tried (had some not very good explanations -- battery not pushing enough power) still nothing working. Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated -- this is the only downside right now.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted 2.1, it's been working perfectly since I rooted and updated and all.I love how fast and responsive everything is now.BUT one of the main reasons I rooted was so that I could take advantage of the wifi tethering.It works sometimes.sometimes great.BUT if I try to go to facebook.it'll work well sometimes, then others it won't even load the page.then eventually just kills my connection. gmail seems to have the same reaction.works sometimes, other times, nothing. i dont seem to have much of a problem surfing other sites.HOWEVER if i try to download anything over like 4MB big...my connection just gets killed all together, and nothing works. a friend of mine sent me his bands new demos...the zip file is like 35MB.it only gets a little ways before just dropping down to 0.0kbs and then it just sits there, not loading crap. I can re start the connection, and it will start downloading again, but after about 30 or 40 seconds.the connection gets killed again. Same goes for a torrent...if I try to download a torrent, it'll work and get pretty fast, up to 190kbs.but after just under a minute, connection killed. why is this? does verizon kill data connections that come in to fast or something? i have a friend who tethers with at&t with his iphone, he got the demos downloaded in like 12 min on his iphone tethering app. do i need to do some tweaking to my phone so I can download? im not trying to go crazy, but I'd like to atleast be able to get large attachments and such.

Several people have mentioned dumping the standard SMS app and going with 3rd party. I decided to download ChompSMS and Handcent to try out. So far, I think I like Handcent the most, but everytime I get a message, all three apps fire off a notification.I have uninstalled ChompSMS, but I still get both the Eris app and Handcent notifications. What is the best was to disable the Eris app? I tried killing everything with ATM, but it just comes back whenever a message comes in.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo over the past few days the apps ive tried to download dont even start to download, I then turn my phone off and back on again and they start to download, then start to install, but just as i think its done i get a notification saying ''Installation unsuccessful''.
I have 14MB of phone memory left so ive constantly got the low on space icon in the notification bar but i have ample space for the certain apps i wish to download. Have i without realising fiddled with a certain setting or something?
When the desire is first switched on it makes a loud sound as the second screen comes up.

there is no way to disable the shutter sound when I take a photo or record a video. How do I manually disable it? My phone isn't rooted. I don't want to root it, so don't need a solution that involves rooting or try to convince me to root. I also want to use the stock camera app. I don't want to use a different app, especially one that is add supported,I have a ZTE Warp Sequent through Boost Mobile.
View 1 Replies View Related how I wound up with this but after a factory reset I noticed that in my phone contacts there are all these "connections" with a chainlink type icon. I didn't have these things before my factory reset.
I don't sync with Google, I use Companion Link and DejaOffice. DON'T want to sync with Google. I can't find a way to "un-connect" and get rid of these things. If I press on them, I get an option to add a connection but no option to disconnect that I can see.
I'm assuming this is either an Android or another one of freaking Google's attempts to invade a my space, privacy and run my life and I don't like it.
for whatever reason today we lost our internet connection at work. Now I work for an airline doing charters and today we added a second flight to each shift. So I tethered my phone for the 3g and just plugged it in at the end of the day to charge it. Needless to say it handeled 300 passengers/customers easy. Changes, bag fees, checking in and selling for a solid 8hrs today! I don't think I'll ever get another cell phone ever. Maybe a bigger SD, but phone, probably not.

I recently setup a link to my Flickr account and keep getting notifications everytime one of my contacts posts something to their account (can get overwhelming quickly). I am using Android 1.5 and I read on a post that I need to go through Settings/Locale & Text and there should be an option to disable the Android Keyboard, but there isn't. Even after I install the Shapewriter Keyboard the only keyboard showing is the default.
I am trying to get me Droid to play the Droid sound at startup again. I have tried to set my notification so i get the droid sound at start up, but no luck. It is a droid 1 rooted with easy root and I am also using super manager.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had the Hero for three weeks or so. After updating the visual voicemail after the initial purchase. Everything was fine until I received a text a week ago informing me that X sent me a voice SMS message and I had to call 408.970.0000 to listen. There was no notification on the visual voicemail native app that anyone had called me. Upon calling this number, I had four voicemails from the preceding few days that I never got. As of today, 11/15, according to the native voicemail app, I haven't received a VM since 11/4. In actuality, I've received many.
After calling sprint and explaining this to them and having "tech" support tell me to "disable WiFi to get my voicemails (!?)", I went to the sprint store. Several call to their support and their own tinkering resolved nothing but an overnight ship of a new Hero due tomorrow. Now, I do have handcent installed after having awake/up time issues (see other posts) with the native message app. Could this be somehow related?
