When the desire is first switched on it makes a loud sound as the second screen comes up.
Is there any way of switching this off.......as last time I switched it on at 0500 am in bed it woke the whole house up.

View 4 Replies View Relatedthere is no way to disable the shutter sound when I take a photo or record a video. How do I manually disable it? My phone isn't rooted. I don't want to root it, so don't need a solution that involves rooting or try to convince me to root. I also want to use the stock camera app. I don't want to use a different app, especially one that is add supported,I have a ZTE Warp Sequent through Boost Mobile.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have found that on lots of occasions the app or browser I am using switched to "landscape" mode without me meaning to do so. Is this because my phone isn't calibrated right? And when it does, it often doesn't switch back to the portrait mode even if I shake it upright - I have to exit the app/browser back to Home screen (which is always portrait) and then re-enter the app/browser and it shows up the correct way.

View 2 Replies View RelatedIt seems that one of the biggest drains on the battery is apps synchronizing constantly but I'm still confused as to how to set the phone up with this in mind! Should Background data be switched off?! What's the difference between Background data and Auto-sync in settings? Which should be on, or should both be off?
I guess what I'm ideally looking for is one button I can press on my Homescreen which will sync everything when I want it to, say a couple of times a day. I'm thinking gmail, news and sports updates, weather, that sort of thing.
Or am I being too fussy? It seems a shame to have such a clever phone but have to have everything switched off because of the battery. I'm tempted to have everything switched on constantly and just charge it all night every night, have it on charge at work and carry a charger in the car just in case. Does anyone else do this?
If people more knowledgeable than me about this (not difficult ) could post how they have their phones set up this would be extremely useful to me and I'm sure lots of other peeps!
I'm in danger of becoming obsessed with this - phone has only been on for 2 hours after an all night charge, I've done practically nothing with it and the battery indicator in the notification bar has already run down slightly!

Anyay, I'm one of those obsessive people who don't like stuff just launching and running in my OS (be it my Windows, Linux, Android, Symbian or anything else) without a good reason. I always disable any non-essential processes and applications that may potentially slow down the system and/or drain the battery.
I have only installed a couple of apps to my Desire and did not do any "illegal" stuff with it (no rooting, hacking or any other syetem modifications).
I use Astro file manager and task viewer and this is what I see just after freshly starting the phone in Astro Process Manager:

Now isn't that a little TOO MUCH? Especially since I haven't used any of those apps/gadgets when starting the phone and neither do I use any of my "homescreens" to place anything there (except one where I put only links that I use most often).
After I kill all apps that I think are not essential I have ony about 6 of them running (Dialer, Android System, HTC Sense, Swype). I try to kill off "messages" but it restarts almost immediatelly. The system still runs perfectly well without all this stuff running in the background.
So what is the reason for all this stuff launching? Isn't it a good idea to keep the memory empty rather than load a bunch of apps that I'm not going to use?
There is that "startup task killer" app but I wonder if there is any way to set which tasks should start/not start upon phone start-up? Something like Windows process manager utility allowing to manually disable any start-up tasks you think are not necessary. That is getting quite annoying.
If you go to the application section in the settings, click on touchflo and click clear defaults. Then press home. Select, "Home" over "Touchflo", do you get the nexus one style homescreen?

I have a Nokia ck-7w handsfree kit in my car, i can pair my desire with it and all seems ok until i try to make or receive a call. The Nokia unit mutes the radio but I can hear no sound at all, no ring tone or dial tones on outgoing calls and no voice on incoming calls.

View 15 Replies View RelatedMy HTC Hero uses about 1 Mb per day, while no applications seem to require data. Automatically popping mail has been disabled, and also other data consuming apps aren't running. I switched off cell (3G) so it consumes the data via WiFi. If I switch on 3G, it would also consume via 3G. So, by not using any apps, the Hero seems to consume 1 Mb per day. How come?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI purchased 2 HTC desire phones and whilst I am happy with them it appears there may be a bug as both phones seem to do it. Occasionally when a text message is received for some reason the notification sound doesnt go off. I know this for sure as I have had the phone right next to me waiting on a message thinking I didnt get it only to discover later it was actually delivered but no sound.Is this a known issue and if so is there a fix for it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've seen a thread which covers this topic - but I've started a new one, as the question is slightly different.I've just downloaded the Act 1 video player (demo) from the Android Market to see if the sound and video are out of sync when using this media player - and they're not. The video plays perfectly. The downside is that to play more than 2 minutes, I have to buy the app - even though it's not a lot of money ($1.79), that's beside the point! I see that many people with this sync fault have reported it to HTC, but we're all waiting for a firmware update to resolve it. I think giving this app for free would resolve most people's issues!

Is there a quick and simple way to change Sound Profiles? maybe a shortcut or a widget or something. I can't believe that every time I want to move from one profile to another (gooing into a meetiong for example) I have to press:- Menu / Settings / Sound & Display and then select the profile.
