I'm trying to connect my phone to my network so I can use wifi. I found my network and entered the correct password and it will say its obtaining an ip address but then after a few seconds it will say unsuccessful what am I doing wrong?

My Hero was connecting to my home WiFi perfectly (for about 5 weeks) - yesterday it stopped connecting, now just says CONNECTION UNSUCCESSFUL?OBTAINING IP ADDRESS.
I have not changed any of my router settings/phone settings, so this is strange. I have tried deleting link and re inputting key (this worked once, but now no longer works)
My router is on the recommended WPA-2 setting, and is regarded as a friendly router for the Hero (Netgear 834dg)
wifi was fine at first but now when i turn wifi back on it says remembered secured with wps/wpa2 psk
obtaining ip address but then after a few mins says unsucessful this is with the phone next to my router!
also under settings - wifi settings i have no advanced tab to set my router time out? where is it?
After I reboot my Desire,it stay in "obtaining IP address from xxxxx" for a very long time,and will never finish this work. Why? Here is the Wifi software version and screen shot when it working.

-Yes, I have the correct key.
-Yes, I have reset my router and modem, no change.
-Yes, I have restarted my phone.
-Yes, my phone connects just fine to unsecured wireless routers.

I have a HTC Hero - T-mobile. Ok the problem, is i used to be able to connect to my wifi router no problem, its a netgear. "remembered, secured with WPA-Personal" and for some reason, it just wont get passed Obtaining address... So its connecting? but cant establish an IP?

I have a HTC Tattoo (indian version). When I enable Wifi its not able to obtain the address from the router. If I provide a static IP it works fine.
This problem started after I tried to connect to a open network (may be). Before that it was working fine with my home network without providing the static IP in advance Wifi-settings.
Is there a way to disable the start up sound on the Eris? Also, it recognizes my WiFi network. I type in the password, it obtains the address, and then it says unsuccessful.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to connect my Eris to my wifi network, it always says Unsuccessful when trying to obtain an ip address. But if I enable to to use a static ip, it connects fine. Its annoying for me though, because if I'm out and want to connect to a different wifi, I have to disable the static ip. I'd like to get it so I don't have to use a static ip address at my house. Any ideas?
Does anyone know what ip address it tries to obtain when static isn't on? The two computers on my network are using .100 and .104. I figured that my phone would pick one not in use, but maybe it's set on trying to get one of those?

I am right outside Chicago and have yet to be able to connect to 4G. I seems like the Evo is starting to connect to 4G, but then just sits with the message of "Obtaining IP address from Sprint". I have left it in this state for 30 mins, and nothing happens. Does anyone know if this is a fault of the phone, or maybe a lack of coverage?
View 23 Replies View RelatedBoth of my android devicea, a razr and a galaxy tab 7.0 plus,are havingtrouble connectingto our wifi. the tab is on honeycomb, the razr on ics. assigning a static ip addressworks for about five minutes, then although the phone says connected, no connection works. during those 5 mins, i can browse the internet but cannot connect via dlna to other devices. when using dhcp dynamic ip address, it just cycles through obtaining ip to disconnected . i ued to use dlna daily, but no luck now, and the static ip is the only solution i can fimd online. This phone has used dhcp before, and theres no reason that it shouldnt be able to now. Both devices run standard roms.

1)the phone keeps jumping out of mass storage mode every 2 minuted after i mount it and so transfers get canceled in between
2)wifi does not work it sometimes gets connected to the router and sometimes just says "obtaining IP" and when it connects i cannot access internet. (but it somehow worked once i dont know how)
3) I have to send a message twice to certain people the first message always does not get sent

When I tell it to, it just says Connection unsuccessful, touch to try again. I tried reboot my phone and router again and also deleting the connection and connecting again, and nothing. It doesn't connect.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHere's something I haven't seen addressed before. If I am looking up an address on my phone (2.1 leak v3), there is no way to see the full address. Even in edit mode, I would have to maneuver just to see the whole address.
Am I missing something, or is there some kind of a fix?? I noticed the same issue with 1.5 and hoped that the 2.1 would fix this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got the HTC Eris and transfered my contacts from my old BlackBerry to the new Eris. Everything's there, actually way more than I need (over 3970 contacts, many duplicates and such. I realize that there is the 'delete duplicates' function on Gmail's contacts page, but sync'ing of that many contacts to go back and edit the contacts that I would like to keep on the phone, has really slowed down the phone, eaten battery big-time and in 3-4 days only 501 contacts have come across. I really don't need that many and was only planning on having the people I call on a daily basis. So, I turned off the sync function on the phone and the phone is running a bit better, but having to scroll or search through that many contacts takes for ever to do.
I would like to find a sync conduit (that works with my PowerBook Mac running Tiger 10.4.11) that I could sync via USB my contacts off of this phone, edit the ones to keep, re-populate (replace) the contacts. At this point I would just turn on the phone sync function(with the fewer contacts) and let them populate Gmail. How is this possible? Many of the suggested downloads I have seen online haven't really stated that they work with my Mac OS. Is there a faster way to have the contacts sync'd up to gmail and maybe just edit everything up there on line?
I know that the Eris will hide the URL address window once it loads a page. for the life of me i haven't found a quick and easy way to show it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt's done this twice now (before and after factory reset). 2.1 OTA, not rooted.
Whenever I turn on the wifi, or I become in range of my WPA2 network, it doesn't always connect. I say "always" because it seems to be random. If I toggle wifi on or off, it doesn't always connect. Sometimes it connects after 30+ seconds. Every other device connects just fine.
The only sure way to get it to connect is to force it to rescan, usually by going to Settings and displaying all SSIDs in range. THEN it connects, always and immediately.
The even sillier thing is, it will alert me of open networks, but never connect to my own saved network.
1. When I turn on my phone, the boot up with the Droid mascot and the HTC logo is extremely loud. Is there any way I can lower the volume on this? Does the Media volume control this?
2. Is there any way I can find out the ip address my phone is using when it is connected via wi-fi? I know you can set-up a static IP, but I'm just trying to see what my ip address is without using a static one.
I'm sure plenty of people have wanted to the same as I am asking but I'm not sure how to handle it.. Basically I do NOT want a contact to pop up into my address book on my Droid Eris every time I email someone new. I understand the convenience of having the two contact lists linked but on the other hand the option not to have them together must be available.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using the HTC mail app (and have also tried in the Gmail app) and want to send a message to 2 people who are not in my Contacts (and don't want to add them since this is a one-off type of thing). How do I do this? I tried typing in the first address and using a comma or a semicolon as the delimiter/separator before entering the second. I get an error saying that the address is not recognized.
