I am trying to root my phone, but I can't get the system recovery to come up. I'm following the Universal Eris Root for Dummies thread here and it said to power off and then power up while pressing the volume up key. This does not launch the system recovery for me, just boots up like normal.

I hit the top button. Flash Clockworkmod recovery or what ever it said. I then backed up my Current ROM. I then downloaded Cyanogen v6.0.0 cr2. It downloaded and rebooted my phone. But It went to a screen with a Triangle w/ exclamation and a phone under it. I then hit the up vol button and camera, and now I'm at the Android system recovery page and I don't know what to do next. These are my options reboot system now apply sdcard:update.zip wipe data/factory rest wipe cache partition wipe base band data. I did click to backup current ROM and wipe data and cache.

I use Taskiller to "kill" or end active programs that I'm not using, so as to reduce battery drain. I notice with 2.1 that every time I power up, lots of apps are launched automatically. This wasn't the case with 1.9. Anybody know if there's a way to prevent this?

Background: I have been trying to root my phone from information found in a youtube video. All went well and the little ninja bloke with the sniper rifle was in the app list. Tried installing busybox and was told that the phone was not rooted�..
I think I ran the root application again and at some point I started getting this error message when in recovery. I have since run the one click root method to unroot the phone and the little nija dude is no longer there. Since I rooted the phone it will no longer connect to my wireless network, it finds the network and attempts to obtain an ip address. After a few min it times out and tries again. When I load the phone recovery the error message is still present.
I downloaded rsdlite set up the drivers and flashed the 2.1 sbf, I was on the leaked 2.2. on Droid X it says to boot into recovery and wipe system and data, but if I try to go into recovery it just shows a triangle with a ! inside it. So I booted normally and its stuck at the red eye. help pleasee I really need my phone

after too many pattern attempts I need factory reset (disabled usb tethering setting and wifi off). When I get to android system recovery I can't do anything. I'm trying volume up/down buttons but I'm still on "reboot system now"

I just found out how to get in Android system recovery <2e> mode. I have 4 options
1.Reboot System Now
2.Apply SDCardlUpdate.zip
3.Wipe Data/Factory Reset
4.Wipe Cache Partition
If I choose number 4, do you guys think It will destroy my phone?
I can access andriod system recovery but I cannot select the options.key combination to select the option I want.

View -1 Replies View RelatedSince 1.5 I've been having partial wake problems. My eris normally will last a few hours in airplane mode or with just wifi on before the battery drops one or two percent. Sometimes, it will drop like 5 percent in an hour with low battery usage occuring, for example, when airplane mode is on. I check spare parts under partial wake usage, and it is usually very high, sometimes 100% after hours. I have to reboot my phone to fix these problems.

Thats the full screen, nothing about backup/restore
When I use an explorer like ES explorer or Root explorer I can go to system/ and find several files & folders.
However, when going to recovery and using the TWRP File manager or by using ADB Shell the System-folder is empty except for a folder named bin/. No sign of build.prop or any other files/folders.
Is there anyway to go back to a previously launched Activity while running an Instrumentation test? Currently, when I use sendKeyDownUpSync( KeyEvent.KEYCODE_BACK);, this forces my test to exit, rather than go back to the previous Activity.

But guess what, my phone boot but stop at "the application settings(process com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly. Force close )
I got a back up of the original rom that i made with clockworkmod so i would like to restore it. But i cannot boot in systeme recory mode
i tried:
vol up/down + home + power = no result
vol up/down + back + power = yellow and it says "emergency mode!! but nothing happen"

Since it is a violation for students to have there cell phones in class. Some student entered my wifes desk and took my daughters htc droid. The school was no help,the police was no help. Can anyone tell me if we can track this phone using gps?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm just hoping someone out there with a new Mazda has been able to sync their phonebook with the Navigation/Bluetooth system while running 2.1. The import phonebook feature doesn't work with my Eris running stock 1.5 even though the Mazda website lists the Eris as a fully supported device.
All other bluetooth functionality works great, although I haven't tried listening to bluetooth audio on it yet. I use my ipod for audio in the car so AD2P isn't all that important to me.
The 2010 Mazda 6 GT is the new car I'm trying this in, but I assume all the newer Mazda navigation systems are the same.
I know that I can make a recovery zip to install packages, but I was wondering if I can make a zip that will extract and replace database files on my phone that are not packaged. The reason I want to do this is so that when I flash a new ROM, I can easily restore certain phone settings like altered APN databases.

After each flash though, I have to go in through Titanium Backup and uninstall a number of system apps (mail, exchange services, music, DSP manager, news & weather, dev tools) that I do not use for various reasons. I know the ROM runs fine without these elements, as I've been removing them for years now. Manually removing them wasn't such an issue until my phone received a TWRP recovery, which effectively gets me much closer to a "one-click" nightly update making the manual cleanup more of a burden to my lazy lifestyle.
I'd like to create a CWM flashable zip that contains only an update script that removes the system apk's that I specify. Using TWRP I'd like to be able to flash the update, the kernel, and my custom "cleanup" zip in that order. I know the path to all the subject apks, but I know little about scripting or creating CWM zips. my way around a bash script, but I'm not even sure if that's relevant.
does it matter if it is enabled or not. Does affect any system updates from verizon. right now i don't have it enabled.i only enable it when i use the app pdanet to tether my phone and computer.is it good to keep disable it

View 2 Replies View RelatedAny1 been able to do fun and exciting things to improve the android experience and/or fix bugs using Terminal editors, and the programs stored in /System/Bin? I've been playing around with some of them basically just looking @ command syntax for the different programs. Some of them seem promising, and some of them look like they can make ur eris into a stylish paperweight. One app i actviated was $ Toolbox, the only thing this did was echo back Toolbox! in the termina editor lol. Ive seen posts where ppl used dmesg to find out how the internal memory was partitioned. I'll admit i'm a total linux shell newb, but playing around with it is fun for me.

An error? What did I do wrong? What I'm trying to do is apply a file I downloaded that is supposed to add Live Wallpapers to the phone.

In recovery mode, I accidentally formatted /system folder (from internal phone memory). This is because the recovery mode is all in chinese language and I did a huge mistake.The phone cannot boot showing HTC logo screen and no boot sound.
I've downloaded the kernel for this device at htcdev.com.I can enter recovery mode. My friend has the same device and his is not rooted yet.
