I downloaded rsdlite set up the drivers and flashed the 2.1 sbf, I was on the leaked 2.2. on Droid X it says to boot into recovery and wipe system and data, but if I try to go into recovery it just shows a triangle with a ! inside it. So I booted normally and its stuck at the red eye. help pleasee I really need my phone

Does system recovery "Wipe data/factory reset" resets custom kernel to stock?
I'm asking this because im noob, and I want to try JellyBlast for Galaxy GT-S5570I. It has two zip files to flash one is ROM, and one is custom kernel. If I do something wrong I'm afraid that I won't be able to restore nandroid backup.

Background: I have been trying to root my phone from information found in a youtube video. All went well and the little ninja bloke with the sniper rifle was in the app list. Tried installing busybox and was told that the phone was not rooted�..
I think I ran the root application again and at some point I started getting this error message when in recovery. I have since run the one click root method to unroot the phone and the little nija dude is no longer there. Since I rooted the phone it will no longer connect to my wireless network, it finds the network and attempts to obtain an ip address. After a few min it times out and tries again. When I load the phone recovery the error message is still present.
Seems fairly straight forward Settings > Apps > Uninstall. But is there any reason, or a good idea to boot into recovery mode and wipe cache?

I hit the top button. Flash Clockworkmod recovery or what ever it said. I then backed up my Current ROM. I then downloaded Cyanogen v6.0.0 cr2. It downloaded and rebooted my phone. But It went to a screen with a Triangle w/ exclamation and a phone under it. I then hit the up vol button and camera, and now I'm at the Android system recovery page and I don't know what to do next. These are my options reboot system now apply sdcard:update.zip wipe data/factory rest wipe cache partition wipe base band data. I did click to backup current ROM and wipe data and cache.
View 38 Replies View RelatedI tried installing Tranquility and must have screwed something up because now my phone won't boot past the Motorola Logo. It's been sitting here like this for about 15min and I can't even boot into recovery by holding the power and home buttons. I don't know what else to do now. Idk if my phone is bricked but even if it is don't I need the SBF file to unbrick it and I can't find that file any where. I did a nand backup or whatever before doing any of this so hopefully that can help me. What should I do now?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIf you do not root, you could go from 2.0.1 to 2.1 with no wiping of data and cache, it just installs & away you go. Same with 2.1 to 2.2. No wiping of data and cache and all is still there as you left it: apps, settings, preferences, etc. SO, why is it important to do this if you root? What's the difference? And, who said it was important to do? Is there some exact proven logic on why if your rooted you must do this and if not, your somehow fine? That 1 step difference causes a lot of extra work, so I am wondering why this is said to be a must for rooters and non rooters need not do it when they get updates?
View 18 Replies View RelatedAfter I received the OTA to 2.1 I have noticed more lag when scrolling between home screens, using 2D games is painful with the framerate reduction, and many items that are running in the background without me ever starting them. I also cannot seem to keep them closed either. I can also say that I am getting worse battery life now than I was with 2.0.1. I was wondering what would actually happen if I rebooted into Recovery Mode and did a Factory Reset with Data Wipe. Would this possibly help with the update causing these problems that were not there before?

Do u have to wipe all data and cache before u switch Roms, if not what happens? I am afraid of losing all of my apps and contacts even tho my gmail will restore my contacts how do I know if it has the contacts saved and how would I get my apps back? I downloaded one of chevys kernel an I was going to install this kernel hoping for better battery life. Before I did, I tried booting into recovery and all I got was the M symbol. I then tried flashing alternate recovery(sprecovery) and then went to boot into recovery an that still didn't work. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't know if its related to that download of the kernel or what. But this is very frustrating knowing I don't have recovery.

Once I made it to the home screen, everything was black and still is. No matter how many times I power cycle or pull the battery its black. How can I boot into recovery to run my restore again?
