My wife teaches high school. My daughter is a wonderful young lady. This week at school my daughter placed her brand new htc droid in my wifes desk drawer. Since it is a violation for students to have there cell phones in class. Some student entered my wifes desk and took my daughters htc droid. The school was no help,the police was no help. Can anyone tell me if we can track this phone using gps?

Can any of you parents of 3-5 year olds out there let me know if you have found any games or apps that are educational or at least fun for kids in this age group? I have several games on my itouch but can't seem to find them for the droid. The droid serach engine does not seen to work as well as itunes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I noticed that the only way to view my school gmail account was through the gmail app, however I can view my personal gmail account with the mail app on my home screen. I have tried to select my ASU gmail account for that app but it doesn't give me an option to show it. Is there any way to add that account to the mail viewer?

Lookout, wavesecure etc. But being a Android user myself (and not ******ed) If I stole a droid what is stopping me from booting to the recovery console and wiping the phone. Then viola! the apps are useless correct? Or am I missing something here?

Can i use the wifi tether after connecting to school internet and then connect my laptop to the droidx? will the speeds be comparable to me just connecting straight to wifi? and is there any ways that the p2p filter still might catch me or will this method work? i guess i'll try it anyways and play dumb if i get kicked off my saying "oh, someone must have connected through my phone's wifi tether app"

View 18 Replies View RelatedI'm just hoping someone out there with a new Mazda has been able to sync their phonebook with the Navigation/Bluetooth system while running 2.1. The import phonebook feature doesn't work with my Eris running stock 1.5 even though the Mazda website lists the Eris as a fully supported device.
All other bluetooth functionality works great, although I haven't tried listening to bluetooth audio on it yet. I use my ipod for audio in the car so AD2P isn't all that important to me.
The 2010 Mazda 6 GT is the new car I'm trying this in, but I assume all the newer Mazda navigation systems are the same.
I know Android uses two email clients but I assume the Gmail client has the best integration and functionality (please correct me if I'm wrong). My school uses an email system that's based off of Gmail with my address being example@fiu.edu. The calendar is also the same. Here's a link of what the log-in looks like:

I'm following the Universal Eris Root for Dummies thread here and it said to power off and then power up while pressing the volume up key. This does not launch the system recovery for me, just boots up like normal.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAny1 been able to do fun and exciting things to improve the android experience and/or fix bugs using Terminal editors, and the programs stored in /System/Bin? I've been playing around with some of them basically just looking @ command syntax for the different programs. Some of them seem promising, and some of them look like they can make ur eris into a stylish paperweight. One app i actviated was $ Toolbox, the only thing this did was echo back Toolbox! in the termina editor lol. Ive seen posts where ppl used dmesg to find out how the internal memory was partitioned. I'll admit i'm a total linux shell newb, but playing around with it is fun for me.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSince 1.5 I've been having partial wake problems. My eris normally will last a few hours in airplane mode or with just wifi on before the battery drops one or two percent. Sometimes, it will drop like 5 percent in an hour with low battery usage occuring, for example, when airplane mode is on. I check spare parts under partial wake usage, and it is usually very high, sometimes 100% after hours. I have to reboot my phone to fix these problems.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAnyone else having issues with the phone and a system error message with something about com.htc.provider and it only gives you the option of a "force close" button. Sometimes that is all that happens and once you hit the force close the message goes away, at least for a while. Other times when this happens it deletes all of your text strings. I have 2 lines and 2 droids, both were having the same issue, did the factory resets, went to the store with both and finally gave in and took 2 refurbished phones to try and fix issue, both refurbished phones started doing the same thing immediately. I am in process of arguing with verizon about not wanting another eris to replace these.

He says that if i setup a Google Voice # (I have) and get sipgate (I have) and download Fring (I have) i can pair google voice with sipgate, and call my google voice # through Fring (with Sip) over Wifi while on the cruise to make free calls. Is this true? I really havent done anything with Sipgate except set it up in Fring. If so, what do i do in Sipgate to pair with Google Voice? Then how do i use it? Is there another way? Or will it be the equivalent of flashing the device meaning I will have to re-install all my apps, contacts, settings, etc... and if so, how does that work? I've noticed the market keeps a list of all the apps you've downloaded. Does it therefore allow you to "re-sync" all the apps you had installed?Basically just trying to gauge how much of a headache this update will be. Nokia had a backup utility for Symbian so that once you flashed your device, you just re-synced it and everything was back the way it was.

Why it is more complicated (if you don't know), is that you have to connect to the wifi, then enter your student ID and password into the browser, then you can access the internet. (similar to some airports)I am able to connect with the browser, but apps that require internet won't work. I have been using the stock one, but it gives me fits with my man hands and correcting my texts has been a pain in the ass.I finally sat down and researched a lot of keyboards and tried out a bunch on my Stock 2.2 Evo.Anyway, the keyboards on the marketplace are crap. They promise tons of options, but work as well as the stock keyboard. Then I heard about the Droid X keyboard, and spent about 2 hours installing and playing with different versions before discovering that they didn't run on 2.2I finally found one here that worked perfectly. It is amazing.

If it does I heard that we can't store apps to the external card until 2.2 comes out. So aren't we going to have very limited space for apps until then?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWas reading a thread over at XDA talking about moving certain apps from data/app to system/app to help them run faster, or not get killed by Autokiller (don't even use that)... anyway, I opened up EStrongs File Explorer with root enabled, and it appears all of my apps are in system/app as opposed to data/app. Is that normal? I am currently on xtrROM 4.6 and used Titanium to restore my apps.
