Jul 27, 2010I've had a search about the internet and this forum for an answer / eureka moment to my question but can't seem to find anything so I suspect it might not be possible.The majority of my contacts have pictures against them and I'd like to see their ugly mugs when I receive a text from them instead of the notification bar in the top of the screen - is this possible?

Jul 31, 2010Newbie Android user, having a problem using different ringtones for each contact. Everytime a person calls, it uses the default ringtone for them. I've set up a few of my contacts with different ringtones, and i'm pretty sure I ain't done it wrong (People>Contact Name>Ringtone>xxxx)For some reason whenever someone calls me, it always plays the default tune!

Jul 23, 2010First off, I have to say this phone is amazing and by far the best handset I've ever had.ight, my problem. I use Outlook contacts at work and had a Windows mobile before this one. The contacts appeared to sync into Desire no problem with HTC Sync and I was using phone with no issues. I then decided to see if I could have mail sent to phone like a Blackberry. I went to 'accounts & sync' and set up my work domain etc. The email side of it works fine. since then I noticed that my contacts in 'People' are normal. When I go to send a text, everything from a contact is listed twice. I use Handcent, but it happens in HTC message app as well. Each contact has 'linked' in top right corner and if i tap it the two contacts for the same person are 'Phone' and 'Exchange'. Any ideas how I can remove one of these?
Is HTC Sync, syncing with Outlook and the Desire sync settings are syncing with the Exchange? Any help on how best to set this up is appreciated. I do want to have Outlook contacts as they are full of notes about customers.

I was thinking that all my contacts would sync accross the phone, but this doesn't seem to happen. I have a HTC desire, and have used HTC sync to try and update all my Outlook contact with my Phone contact, but they don't seem to come across. So how can I do this...

Oct 30, 2010I am trying to tidy up contacts and want to transfer all the contacts on my Desire to my PC, tidy them and send them back. I had a look at the other thread s on this but they don't seem to cover Desire.
It seems I can only transfer contacts as VCards, one at a time, via bluetooth, is this the case? That would be a pain.
So, what are the alternatives? I think I can use sync but I'm not sure how. Any other options? Using the built in mailer in Desire, I assume, since I didn't load another one, and using Thunderbird on PC, if that info is pertinent.
HTC Desire :: Facebook Contact Linking
Jul 2, 2010I've seen a few threads on here about this but none with an answer to my question.I want to keep facebook on friend stream but i want to remove the contact sync option.Numerous people have said to remove the facebook for htc sense option in settings->accounts and sync.then to re-add the account and quickly untick the "sync contacts"box. I've done all this except for the last bit as there is not a check box.I can only imagine that the app has been updated to not include a check box.

Jun 8, 2010I have all my contacts in Gmail and sync'd with facebook on my desire.Some contacts I have images in google too (which are low res as we all know).I used Facebook Sync (or fbSync) from the market to pull images from facebook and upload to Gmail.This appears to work fine.Out of the contacts that have images for facebook and google contacts, some default to using the FB image (which is what I want) and some default to google.I need google images because HulloMail VVM only uses gmail contacts so I don't get a contact image unless I have a gmail ones for my voicemails.I have tried to find a trend between the contacts that default to google and those which don't but have been unsuccessful in finding one. I have tried turning off contacts sync but also to no avail.Has anyone else had this issue, or has anyone got any idea on what could be causing this please? I've been trawling the web for too long now and can't find any reference to this issue at all.

Aug 25, 2010HTC Desire When I tap the 'To' box or the person icon there are multiple entries for each contact. The second person in my contact list appears at least 100 times, others are in there 6, 8 10+ times.Orange Help sent me a text. I deleted it. Took battery out etc. And guess what? No help at all. In the People folder the entries are there in their singular form. Anyone any ideas for resolving this? BTW - the contact only receives one message!!

HTC Desire :: Shows One Number Per Contact
Jul 14, 2010I've just taken delivery of my brand new HTC Desire and I'm having a little difficulty importing my contacts from my old SE W995. I've put the SIM card in the new handset and it seems to have recognized some of the numbers but as far as I can see its only showing one number per contact whereas my W995 let me save a few different numbers for each contact (work, home, mobile etc) - is there any way to get the HTC to recognize this without keying them all in again?

Nov 12, 2010I've recently noticed that on both the HTC Magic (aka MyTouch) and Samsung Galaxy S it's possible to share contacts details via QR Codes.Both the aforementioned smartphones had the latest Barcode Scanner (by ZXing Software) installed. It's simply a matter of going into the address book, hit the menu button and select the "share contact as barcode". As a result, a fullscreen QRCode is displayed containing all the relevant details of the selected contact, ready to be scanned and saved by another smartphone.Now, why can't my Desire do the same?I have Barcode Scanner 3.51 installed, but the "share as barcode" options is nowhere to be found in my address book/contacts list.The only workaround I found is to share contacts directly from inside B.S., but (other than being slower) this method shows non-grouped contacts which is a PITA.Is this a Sense-related matter?What about yours?

Currently when she presses the phone button from her home page it seems to show all contacts. However when she goes to HTC People it is set to only show phone contacts not facebook contacts. 2, When you have facebook contacts how do you delete them?
