Is there a way to link a contact to twitter in the same way you can link to their facebook or flicker feeds? I had it in my mind that by going to contact you'd see their last few tweets.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to add an quick contact option to the Quick Contact window that displays for a contact. How do I get this option to show up when the user taps on a contact? I looked at the Facebook and Twitter applications and can see that they have this:

First of all, I am not sure that the snippets above are *really* what get used to plug into the quick contacts. It's just an educated guess. I still am at a bit of a loss to figure out exactly how to plug into the quick contact window (for example, which xml/java file did Facebook/Twitter apps use to declare their intent to plug into the quick contact window, declare the icon to show etc?).
I am not specifically interested in Facebook/Twitter, its just that these apps have plugged into the new API successfully. I am just looking for an end to end example (ideally) or simply pointers to how to integrate my contacts sync info into the quick contacts menu.
Is there anyway to manually link a contact to someone on Facebook?

Just happened a few days ago, where one of my contacts on my phone from Gmail that was linked to Facebook all of a sudden is unlinked. When I tried to relink to fix it, the contact doesn't appear on the list to link. Going into the Facebook app, the contact is listed there. Anyone run into this or have any idea how to fix? Tried a reset already, after backing up apps/messages.

For instance, if I have a meeting at Joe Bob's office, I'd like to be able to type in Joe Bob's name in the event location field on the calendar and have it insert the address for me, instead of having to switch to contacts, find Joe Bob, copy Joe Bob's address, switch back to calendar, and paste the address.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently had my DI replaced due to a tech issue, but before I switched over I backed up everything using "My Backup Pro".
When it backed up my contacts, it backed up EVERYONE - including 550+ people I follow in Twitter. I did not have these as visible in my People (phonebook) list, just in Twitter. When I synced with my new DI, My Backup Pro installed every contact to my People list, as the app must have thought it was all part of my phonebook. I tried to make the list invisible like I had it on my original phone, but that did not work, so I deleted each Twitter contact manually from my People list. They no longer show in my People list (though are available to be made visible from Twitter).
This did not solve the problem. Any app that accesses my contact list (even Search People) displays the FULL list which includes my Twitter contacts. There is no long-press or menu options available to hide them.
I am willing to clear my contacts and upload the list again, as they are all backed up to my Google account, but I am afraid it would sync with the server and delete what is saved there.
Any advice on how to clear my contact list of my Twitter followers, or start over with my Google-saved contacts?
I'm having an issue linking my wife to her Facebook profile in the contact "people." When she calls her number comes up. After I hang up, I try to "connect with person already in contacts" and it forces "People" to close. I tried to add her manually and it deleted it before my very eyes while I was within "people." I did it using the Google phonebook and not the phone's. Is there any issue with this, and what's the difference between the Google and Phone options (benefits, etc... ?).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a relatively new EVO 4G, and I've noticed that for some reason trying to chat with a contact using Talk and Quick Contacts doesn't work. When I pop up the Quick Contact for a person who's online, I see a second dialer icon. When I press that, it gives me the option to use various chat methods, including Talk (and Skype). However, when I choose Talk, it asks me to "Complete action using" and gives me a huge list of things, but none of which are Talk.

Using the last few versions of the DeFrost ROM and the latest radio (32.47.00.32_5.10.05.23) I seem to be unable to connect to twitter (through either the official app or twicca) when on a mobile data connection (G or H). It works fine on Wi-Fi though.

Rooted Desire using AdamG's Official Sense ROM
Menu > Settings > Accounts & sync
It shows 2 Twitter entries on the sync list (I use the stock Twitter app that came with the phone).
Entry 1 has a large 't' logo and I can change Account Settings, Sync tweet, and Sync friend.
Entry 2 has a small 't' logo and I can change Sync Twitter data and Sync contacts.
Are both these entries part of the same Twitter app? When I select Account Settings from the first app on the list, the page title appears as 'Peep' for a couple of seconds before changing 'Settings'. Could it be that the above entries are for Peep and the stock Twitter app, even though I don't use Peep?
My main reason for asking is that the Twitter app is set to update every 2 hours, but it seems this isn't happening, and I'm wondering if there's a clash somewhere.
Aside from rooting your phone, is there any way to remove the facebook, twitter or some other stock apps? Don't use either services and would rather have the space for something else and clean up my apps list a bit. I'm running unbranded 2.2

View 9 Replies View RelatedLove my new Desire but having gripes with Twitter on the Peep client. Doesn't seem as if you can install an effective alternative client either.
My twitter timeline wasn't updating in Peep. It said, No Tweets. It lied. I could see @ messages and dms and even new tweets scrolling in the notification bar at the top of the screen, but NOTHING in the main timeline.
Tried refreshing, re-synching, updating location, to no avail.
The only way I've managed to get the timeline to show now, was to go into Settings and Apps and clear all the database data from Peep. Then sign out and sign in again.
I am using the official twitter app on my desire, and I have noticed that the size of the app keeps growing. The 'data' component of the app is now 3MB on my phone. And there is no way to remove it. The only option I get is to uninstall the app. Any way to get around this problem?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI use twitter to follow various people in the F1 fraternity, the friendstream widget is pretty handy, so I use that on a homepage. A few times now I've noticed that it fails to update from twitter - it simply doesn't get any new stuff. If I go in to peep that also doesn't update. if I start the twitter app they are all there.
Anyone else noticed this / found a solution ?
Last time it was out of a couple of days and then just started working again.
I've just rooted and Villian 2.1ified my Orange Hero.Now I swear there was an easy way to link contacts to their fb profiles, but now I can only find a way to manually do it one contact at a time. With alot of contacts, this could take somewhere between three to four years.

My problem: I don't seem to be able to dial from a link - like a phone number that's on a web page. it dials, but then number can not be completed as dialed. Is there a setting somewhere for this?

View 7 Replies View RelatedThis feature on my desire has never worked but im only just getting round to asking why. it happens when i get a facebook notification and drag down the notification pane from the top of the screen. when i get a "new poke" notification and tap the message it takes me to my facebook home page and i can respond to the poke, that works fine. however when i get a "new message" notification and i tap that it just redirects me to a blank page. ie the weblink doesnt work. is there anyway to edit the weblink for this notification so that it redirects me to my facebook homepage?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an incredibly annoying problem with my People contacts, where if I link a contact's Facebook account to their profile on my phone, People also decides to add in their phone numbers! This means I end up with duplicate phone numbers to choose from (for example, when selecting a contact to send an SMS to) or numbers that have been incorrectly added to Facebook by the contact (made up numbers or incorrect international dialing codes). All I want is to link the Facebook account and NOT have the contact details automatically added. The only contacts I have set up to view in People are my Google contacts - 'Facebook for HTC Sense' is unticked.
