Anyone else have this issue or know a fix? Contact pictures show in contact details and in the contacts app, but not in the dial or when I get a call. Contact management is the only thing I don't like about my X.

View 2 Replies View RelatedRecently upgraded my Orange Hero to 2.1 and linked all my google contacts to the facebook ones.
However, it also appears to have imported details like phone and email address from facebook which for most people are completely out of date. ( I haven't update my facebook contact number in years =/ )
Now when I write a message, I'm presented with 2-3 copies of each contact with different phone numbers.
I'd like to keep the Birthday and profile pics that facebook imports, but not any of the contact details. Is there anyway of doing this?

I lost a contact somehow and so created a new one with name only but no phone, email details. Then I linked the contact to that persons facebook profile, so now the contact diplays their details from facebook. Then I sync with gmail contacts and looking at their contact in gmail it shows some link metadata rather than the actuial phone numbers etc. This is the data:

Is there any way to have the phone copy the contact data it reads from facebook and store this in the phone in the person's contact record? This way it will track through to gmail contacts.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't receive MMS messages from friends. Vodafone UK have sent me three seperate PDF files by emails, giving me instructions how to set up MMS, WAP and WEB. They are suggesting that I set up 3 seperate APN profiles - is this right? I already have an APN profile called "Vodafone PAYMONTHLY" where I have data set up. Can I just add MMS settings in that one? Can someone also confirm their MMS settings on Vodafone UK?

View 12 Replies View RelatedSo as expected I got too impatient to wait for Vodafone to officially launch 2.2 so I bit the bullet, debranded the handset and got the update. Im glad I did as I understand that Vodafone have just rolled out a sneaky update loading the handset with rubbish. Thought I would share the experience with my fellow Vodafone users including the guide that I used in order to complete the installation. This turned out to be a very easy process which took around an hour from start to finish inc the 2.2 update and restoring apps etc.
PLEASE READ THIS FULLY BEFORE STARTING THE PROCEDURE
Worked a treat on my handset but as with all these things I can't accept any responsibility for any loss or damage that may occur if you decide to go down the same route that I did. Also please be aware that debranding your handset may invalidate the warranty should anything go wrong. Im not sure whether its possible once 2.2 has been installed to revert back to the old Vodafone Rom (should the phone need to go back to Vodafone for example) so please bear that in mind.........
i have what i thought was an unbranded phone on voda but after some looking it seems it is as it has the .161. in the software number which means it is branded just without the branding now i would like to run 2.2 much like everybody else with a desire but i am unsure of what i need to do it, do i need to root it first or can i just use a gold card or what?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently rooted my Vodafone (UK) HTC Desire after the bloated 2.1 release from Vodafone but never got around to flashing a custom rom (after problems with the clockwork recovery Amoled or SLCD). I know wish to install the clean(er) 2.2 official Vodfone OTA release but I'm having trouble. When I download OTA the phone restarts and hangs at a screen with a triangle and explanation mark. I can then get to the recovery screen where I se the error - failed, un-verified signature. what I need to do to install the Vodfone release, do I need to un-root my phone first?

i've flashed my device with a modaco rom with froyo to try it out. I've found a few bugs and found my last rom a lot better + i'm not receiving texts from abroad so i'm starting to think i may have to send the phone back to vodafone. Now i dont think vodafone have released there ROM - does any body have any idea where i can get hold of the next best thing?
View 2 Replies View Relatedif anyone else who was unfortunate enough to install the latest vf 'update' noticed that all of their sms messages had been duplicated! which as you can image is a pain in the parts if like me you have alot of messages. I have managed to sort out a work around for this. I used 'sms backup and restore' SMS Backup & Restore - Android app on AppBrain to create an xml of all my sms messages I then wrote a quick vb.net program which checks the xml file for any messages with duplicate timestamps and message contents and removes the duplicate. Then you can just restore the edited xml file. I realise some people might be dubious about using an exe file which someone posts on a forum but i have attached it anyway if anyone wants to use it. I could post the code if anyone wants. Anyway just thought that it might help some of those unfortunate souls like myself who foolishly 'updated' their desire

I've read that you can't debrand if you got the OTA update from vodafone today. I got so close to putting an official stock ROM on my Desire (so I could push for the 2.2 update) only for it to fail. The ROM was: RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4. 06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed Then I read that because my phone had already been updated to this vodafone junk that I have lost the ability to rebrand. Is this true? Can't believe I was so close to getting FroYo. I could cry to Vodafone!

The issue i wanna discuss here is that my phone does not sync the birthdays from my phone contact details to the calender, as it was availabe in my previous phone HTC Touch diamond, i used to feed the birthday details along with the contact and it syncs those birthdays with the calender when i used to sync it manually with the help of computer. But no such option is availabe in Android. please don't reply with the 'synching birthday contact and events' from google calender. I've seen loads of forums on that , but that ain't related to my problem. i want synchronization of my phone contact's birthday details to the phone calender.

View 3 Replies View RelatedFirst off, I have to say this phone is amazing and by far the best handset I've ever had.ight, my problem. I use Outlook contacts at work and had a Windows mobile before this one. The contacts appeared to sync into Desire no problem with HTC Sync and I was using phone with no issues. I then decided to see if I could have mail sent to phone like a Blackberry. I went to 'accounts & sync' and set up my work domain etc. The email side of it works fine. since then I noticed that my contacts in 'People' are normal. When I go to send a text, everything from a contact is listed twice. I use Handcent, but it happens in HTC message app as well. Each contact has 'linked' in top right corner and if i tap it the two contacts for the same person are 'Phone' and 'Exchange'. Any ideas how I can remove one of these?
Is HTC Sync, syncing with Outlook and the Desire sync settings are syncing with the Exchange? Any help on how best to set this up is appreciated. I do want to have Outlook contacts as they are full of notes about customers.
I need to put all my contacts from my phone onto my GMail, but for some reason, I can't find a way to do it easily. I was thinking that all my contacts would sync accross the phone, but this doesn't seem to happen.
