View 5 RepliesWhy when sending a text message (by clicking contacts) does my contact list (clicking the little person) show all the contacts contacts details such as home number / mobile number / email etc etc.
I am sure it just listed contacts once in order to simply send a text !
Why I am getting all these options ?
When I do to my phonebook and look at a contact it gives me the option to send a message to the default number and every other number associated with that contact. So if they have a work, home and mobile it also gives me the ability to send messages to all 3 of those numbers, why? If I send a text I only want it going to their mobile....is everyones contacts set up like this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI can receive picture messages but for some reason they just time out when sending them, I've attached a picture to a text and pressed send, but in Handcent the little timer just goes round and then about 20 minutes later it bleeps and tells me that it didn't go through. Is this a problem with Handcent/Desire or T-Mobile?
View 10 Replies View RelatedThis is one of the few major complaints I have with our phone. When I want to send my vCard (or any contact card) I can only choose from Bluetooth, MMS (costs money) or the "HTC" Mail apps. Since I use a Gmail account I don't have any other mail clients configured. Am I doing something wrong? Have I missed some setting that will allow me to send a contact card via Gmail?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been using Handcent since I've had my Desire, but since the last few updates it seems to have developed a fault when sending the same sms message to multiple contacts. If I send a message to say 3 people, it either force closes, or comes up with the error message not sent. If it comes up with the latter, the messages are queued & sent 1 after the other. I was able to do this no problem before, so has anyone else experienced this in Handcent?
View 3 Replies View RelatedSince I started installing custom ROMs on my Desire, the contact pictures have been missing in the HTC Messages app. They show up fine everywhere else, just in Messages I see the default grey contact icon all the time.I initially thought it could be a bug specific to one of the ROMs I installed but it's happened with AdamG's 'official' Froyo Sense ROM and Paul's MCR Custom ROM r5 which I'm currently running (actually, I've installed 2 slightly different 'bakes' of this and the problem is there in both).I've tried asking about this on XDA and MoDaCo in the relevant ROM threads but not had any luck. Just wondered if anyone had any idea at all what could be causing this and how to fix it, or at least find out why it's happening. As I said, its literally just in the Messages app that it's happening - everywhere else contact pics show up just fine.
View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst of all, I am running stock 2.2 on an unbranded Desire, with latest firmware from HTC. Sometimes when I go to my messages and say, click on messages from "John", messages from a random other contact come up. If I click back and click John again, the correct messages appear. It doesn't happen all the time (maybe once every few days?), but unless I am careful I end up sending a message to the wrong person. I have tried restarting the phone, but don't really want to factory reset for such a minor issue. Never happened under 2.1.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I was using my the handcent sms app on my Droid today and all a sudden the person i was sending messages to was receiving the messages 3 times. Then all a sudden when i went back to text someone else my whole thread was gone and all my messages had been deleted. Then I try using the stock messaging app and obviously all my threads are deleted but messages send twice, any suggestions?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a friend who is added to my Desire's contact list.
1. He is on my Facebook contact. (His facebook pic appears in my Desire contact list)
2. He is my Gmail contact as well.
3. He is added as a 'Phone Contact' as well.
I sent him a text few days ago but don't remember if it was using facebook or my phone (network provider sms) but now when I go in to 'Messages' and send him a message, I just can't figure out if I am sending him a message via Facebook or to his mobile number.
I did a search on this and didn't come up with any hits for the inc.If I want to send a long message (over 160 characters) I use to be able to send as mms on my bb and it would not break the message up into seperate messages like it did on regular sms.How do I do this on the Inc? I looked for a mms option when texting and didn't find one. I am using Handcent and shapewriter for a keyboard, but also looked on the stock messaging app and didn't see one there either.

View 4 Replies View RelatedAnyone having problems sending MMS messages via handcent? This worked fine on my HERO, but doesn't work on my Evo. I can send MMS messages via the stock messaging app, but handcent just spins and never sends the message. Normal SMS messages work fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI saw a thread for an app that allows you to send delayed text messages, deliver in x number of hours, but can't recall the name. I've tried searching but haven't had any luck.
View 4 Replies View RelatedDoes anybody know the right setting for videos in order to send them in messages to people? Everytime I record something and try to send it it says the file is too big even if its only a few seconds.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was able to initially but some setting must have changed and now I can't. Is there anyone who could steer me in the right direction to what setting I have screwed up?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI successfully updated to the official Vodafone release using SEUS, loving the update so far but I've come across a problem with text messages.
Every couple of text messages they won't send and instead I get the message cannot be sent error. Trying repeated times has the same results then all of a sudden it will randomly work.
It can't be down to bad signal, last time the error came up I had full 'H' signal.
I also tried Handcent to see if using an app would make any difference but it didnt.
I just got my samsun captivate a week ago and i love it! but lately its been sending old messages that i haves sent before to people without me sending them. i look in the text log and the messages are there like if i had sent them but didnt. sometimes the messages that got sent on its own dont show up tho. why is my phone doing this? should i take it back to at&t and get another one? help. i really love this phone and dnt want to get rid of it
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've got an app that lets users send sms messages. Works great when the message < 160 characters. After that, things work less-perfectly. Seems like there are a few options here:
Manually break the message up into multiple SMSs, send each part as a separate SMS. Use the multi-part send SMS function (sendMultipartTextMessage()). Send the message as an MMS message (sendDataMessage()?).
Here's my novice take on it:
1)most well supported across carriers. Users may get mad that you just cost them N separate messages though, instead of converting to MMS or something.
2)not sure if this is supported by different carriers, and read that once the message is greater than 3 * 160 chars in length, gets converted to MMS anyway by different SMS apps - maybe stay away from this altogether.
3)not sure how to do this, and older phones might not support MMS. To send an MMS using the android SDK, do we just use the SmsManager.sendDataMessage() method?
My Ally used to send picture messages fine, but now it won't send them. It just sits in my outbox saying it's sending forever. I've *228ed my phone and reprogrammed it and nothing.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust had to reboot my phone because my text messages were not sending and giving me some cryptic error that didnt tell me anything worthwhile.Wondering if anyone has seen this on their Eris? I've read about text message issues on the Hero, but so far not anything about the Eris yet. Hopefully it was just a 1-time fluke up until then it's been working perfectly for 3 days now, and its working perfectly fine again now.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI downloaded Handcent last night and everyone I send SMS to is getting either half of what I sent or nothing at all. any ideas on what is wrong?
View 2 Replies View Relatedwithin the last month sending picture messages has become a joke. It takes like an hour almost all the time and sometimes they wont send at all. Anyone know whats going on with this? Regular texts work perfectly.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI do not have a device. I am testing on the emulator. When I send a message(problematically and through the device) with special characters I am not able to view them properly. For Example: When I send a message from one emulator to another say "~Ha". I see only the character "~" in the other emulator.
But when I send the same message from the DDMS, I do not see the problem. Is this a problem with the emulator or am i missing somthing. sm.sendTextMessage("5556", null, "~Ha", null, null);
I have G1. I write python scripts using ASE. I have to send around 1000 SMSes using SMS API in ASE. I wonder if G1 will be able to hold up-to that? moreover, how much pause (time gap/ sleep) should I give between each message sent. Some of my colleges think that its a crazy idea. I should go for GSM modem. What do you think, is this feasible enough? Can G1 enough capable? I dont have dev version.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo when sending text messages, I get the following message every single time i press 'send'
"com.android.mms A large number of text SMS messages are being sent. Select 'ok' to send"
So.....I did send out 100+ messages within like 5 minutes...just sending out a mass txt message letting people know of my new number. So is this Androids way of anti-spam?
I need a way to turn it off, because now I have to make this extra step every single time i send a text message
What class can we use to send a text message? I tried this on the emulator, 2.0:
CODE:.............
And that works ok. On my G1 running 1.5, I get a verify error, guessing because SmsManager is not available in 1.5. Maybe for 1.5 we need to use the deprecated class?:
android.telephony.gsm.SmsManager
Is that correct, or is there some other class we're supposed to use for sending text messages?
Is there any app (preferably free) that allows you to control an ERIS (android1.5)'s SMS client by sending messages from the computer while hooked up to the phone via cable. I'm just lazy and dont feel like picking up my phone half the time...
