I've had a search about the internet and this forum for an answer / eureka moment to my question but can't seem to find anything so I suspect it might not be possible.The majority of my contacts have pictures against them and I'd like to see their ugly mugs when I receive a text from them instead of the notification bar in the top of the screen - is this possible?

For my closest contacts, I use the People widget that shows a "big" thumbnail photo for each contact. Most of my contacts are set to display their Facebook profile photo, and yes I'm one of the ones who has complained to HTC about it not updating.
However, a couple of days ago I noticed my Dad's picture had gone missing. He's not on Facebook, but his photo is synced to his Google Account picture. But now there's just the standard grey "no photo" icon. He definitely hasn't updated his photo, it's still there in Google Talk.
Just today I've noticed that 4 more people on this small contact list have also lost their photos. Weirder still, those contacts all have their picture set to Facebook ...
I've just run a "sync all" on my Desire and only one of those contact photos came back. A few still show the "no photo" icon.
Even weirder, is that other contact photos on the list did update to the most recent Facebook photo! Weird. I'll keep track to see if they update automatically. I don't have high hopes. (and my own profile pic still hasn't updated from a month ago)
(the sync all has also reset heaps of my contacts names back from their Google contact name to their Facebook or Google Account name.
I need to list the 'Display name' of all the contacts belonging to a single account.I am planning to use a cursor adapter for populating the list and hence would require the corresponding fields (Display name, Account info) to be fetched in a single content provider querry.Looking at the Contacts Database Structure a single table amoung Raw Contacts, Contacts and Data wont be able to provide these two parameters and hence a join is necessary.As far as i know join wont be possible to fetch the data from the content provider.

When he selects a contact from that, i have to get the selected contact name and number. I tried using the code but only the name of the selected contact is shown and not the phone number.I even need the additional number(home,office etc.,)of the selected contacts,Can anyone help me out with this. Whenever I click "contacts", it shows "All Groups", not "Phone Contacts". After I switch the display group to "Phone Contacts", it'll stay that way for an hour or so, but later, it'll switch right back to "All contacts". (I have "facebook" and "twitter" groups in contacts as well). Is anyone else having this problem?

1)Has anyone found a way to change which picture is displayed for a linked contact? On the HTC Aria, you could choose whether you wanted the picture from Gmail or the one from Facebook.
2)Has anyone found a way to change the displayed name in Contacts. Again, on the HTC Aria, you could pick whether to display the name from your Gmail contact or the one from the Facebook contact.
Is there any way of maintain the image quality of a contact display picture? It always seems to get reduced for some reason.I save it to my GOogle contacts and then it gets synced to my phone. I don't know if it would make a difference if i saved it to my phone directly

Eventually the phone switches the name back to whatever it feels like. Is anybody else experiencing this issue?

But in a result I get only Contact names without visible numbers. To make things worse, if one contact has two numbers it occurs twice.
I have specific pix assigned to each of my friends and family for their contact picture; however when they call me or I call them the picture that is displayed is blurry! But in reality the picture in the photo gallery is crystal clear.

Whenever I make or receive a call, the name is shown, and the phone number is shown underneath the name instead of the type that the number is associated with.Any way to show the type (mobile, work, home) instead of the number itself? Otherwise are we supposed to memorize which numbers belong to work, mobile, or home?I don't even see any icons, or colour changes that would signify one of the types.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get Facebook profile pictures assigned to internal phone contacts, but cant get it to work. I installed the recently updated Facebook app, at the first launch it asked me if I want to sync my contacts, I selected Sync with exisiting contacts (later I selected Sync all since first option didnt work) but still profile pictures are not being fetched. I can now see facebook contacts in my main contact list, and I can link them with my phone contacts (manually), but profile picture is still blank. When I click the View profile (facebook) link of a particular contact I'm taken to my profile page instead of the person i clicked on. And when I select Edit and go to Facebook tab there is an error with an exclamation mark with the message "Unable to edit SNS contacts on phone".

For example, if you go to the google webpage, the background is kind of almost a very subtle pink, not true white. In fact, the phone seems incapable of displaying bright white. Is this widespread or is it just me?

however battery use screen shows display 73%..! Is that normal, how can I reduce it?
My problem is that my phone's display does not show anything but it's even working so I can pick up the phone when someone's ringing but I can't see anything. Yesterday I tried to remove the battery and put it back and now I can't use my phone. I've read that someone has the same problem but he didn't find any solution.

View 12 Replies View RelatedOn my previous phones whenever an alarm is due to go off the next morning an alarm icon is shown on the desktop and when you view the keypad lock screen you get the same thing. This meant that last thing at night I could just press a key to get the lock screen and confirm my alarm was set to go off and at what time.
I can't seem to find a way to see this easily on my Desire.
On my lock screen I get an alarm icon to show that an alarm is set, along side the current time in the notifications bar along the top and then I simply have T-Mobile, Current Time, and the current date on the lock bar.
Now I have just disabled all my alarms except for one on Monday morning (this is Thursday as I type) and I still have the same icon in the notification bar and if i click on the HTC Sense clock widget I simply get told that there is an alarm on again coupled with the current date. This means that if i glance at my phone I can't immediately see that my morning alarm for Friday isn't actually set, I have to go into the alarm clock set screen to check.
I have read on another site that one of the changes in froyo was "Lock Screen - Instead of just the time of the next alarm time. It also shows which day."
Does this mean T-mobile have disabled that feature?
Does anyone else see the date of the next scheduled alarm on the lock screen?
I will have to look to see if there are any apps which can do this although I wonder if an app that messes with the lock screen will also affect battery life.
Now that I think about it I am not sure at what point my previous phones (Sony Ericsson k800i and C905) showed an alarm icon again. So if on Saturday night it showed no alarm for Sunday, but on Sunday morning 00:01 would it then display the icon for Monday? I can't remember ever having noticed one way or another.
I ask the above because I have put a couple of photo albums on my Desire and noticed that the first photo is the "oldest" photo. However, I have just renamed an album of 100 pictures into a specific numerical order and my Desire places them back into the order of "date picture taken" Does anyone know of a way I can get the pictures to be in the order of file name?

When I recieve an SMS on my desire I get the notification sound, but I see nothing on the screen until I wake up the screen by pressing the power button. If you do not hear the notification you have to check for messages, I have found sms on the phone that have between there for a few hours before i noticed.
Is there a setting to help with this?
I save all my contacts to Google, so they are backed up automatically on Google's servers. However, when I go to People > View - it says Phone (13) when I don't have any contacts saved to my phone. Even when I only have Phone (13) ticked, it doesn't display anything. Why is this?

Other than checking the numbers against my contacts or by the content I've no idea who's sending me messages.
When I add a new contact, I'm offered Google, SIM and phone. Where should I put it, and what effect does each option have?

I like having my Hotmail pushed to me and because the HTC client doesn't support Hotmail push I've downloaded and used the stock android email.apk. It works fine (pushes) but the emails are not HTML. There is no option to display as HTML but I've seen it display HTML from other email clients!
