I don't suppose there is a way to reduce the amount of space around the icons for apps/folders? When you remove the text under the images you could easily fit an extra row of icons on a homescreen by getting rid of some of the blank space.

Does anyone know if there is an Icon of the Incredible? I would like to replace the old telephone receiver icon on the dock with an Icon of the Incredible. If not could someone make me one from a picture or explain how to reduce the pic to a sice for the Icon? Currently I downloaded the Windows 7 icon pack from the market and i'm using the default cell phone icon which looks like an old canybar Nokia.

The only reason I can think of is that there are 14 JPEG files in the drawables which serve as background images of the fun-facts. The average size of these is about 500 KB.I'd like to trim the size of my app, so as not to use up the precious resources on the user's device. What I do is right click the photo and select "Send To" then " Mail Receipt" then window's asks me if I want to "Reduce the size of the photo so they will send faster" and I click "Make my pictures smaller" then when outlook express opens I right click on the jpg and drag it to a folder on my desktop so when I upload I get the picture there. Unfortunately for just a few pixels missing, it displays only half of the last item and adds a scrollbar. Beside, centering of the dialog is awkward, there is a 20px padding at the top but only 2px at the bottom. View 3 Replies View RelatedI learned from several discussions of this group that BitmapFactory.decodeFile() allocates heap memory outside of the "java heap". My app receives encrypted files from a remote server. Decoding those files needs a lot of heap space. After finishing this decoding step most of the allocated heap space will be freed by the GC. But the (total) heap size - as displayed by the DDM - remains large. In this situation there is not enough heap space outside of the "Java heap" to decode even medium sized image files using BitmapFactory.decodeFile(). At the moment I limit the size of encrypted files to ensure that the Java heap space never increases to more than 10 MB. This ensures that there is enough memory for BitmapFactory.decodeFile(). But this is not very elegant.
Is it possible to tell the dalvik-vm to reduce the (total) heap size to have more space for decoding images or is there another solution?
When using 2.2 on the HTC Desire, select ISO 800 in the photo settings, rather than auto, then switch camera to video as normal. This will considerably reduce the flickering / stuttering during playback when recording at 720p.

As we all know the internal memory is pretty small on the Desire, and i've tried to be conservative with the apps I install (unless I know they can be moved to SD). However, despite this i'm constantly low in internal memory. at the moment, the only apps i have installed on the internal memory are beautiful widgets (1.36mb), colornote (524kb), facebook (3.05mb), mixzing (3.70mb), multicon (316kb), swiftkey (1.84mb), (tasker (1.43mb), voice search (2.54mb) .everything else I have moved to the SD card via app2sd or through the recently posted trick to get all apps to automatically install to SD. As you can see, the apps I have installed (obviously this excludes all the various htc stuff that comes preinstalled etc) falls far short of the supposed 148mb that i have available to install apps, so can anyone shed any light on what might be going on? I've tried clearing various caches to try and free up some spece but this has barely had any impact and this is truly starting to bug me. I've got a desire on 2.2

I have the wifi turned off and only enable it when required but just general usage seems to sap the power quite quickly. At the moment I'm not sure a full charge would even last a day! I have tried numerous launchers and have found it difficult to find any launchers that allow you to go above 72x72 resolution for icons. The only one that would was Go Launcher EX and that simply scaled them up to a barely noticeable 82x82.
Is there a launcher which allows you to load icons that are say 100x100 and that does not scale them?
I am having real issues reading anything. The icons are really small for as large as the screen is as well as some text thought the phone.
