I was playing around with a friends original Moto Droid and due to the smaller screen size the icons are smaller and it makes the UI look cleaner. Is there any way to make the icons on the EVO smaller to "get more" space out of the screen?

I am having real issues reading anything. The icons are really small for as large as the screen is as well as some text thought the phone. Every phone I have ever owned had at least a small,large,larger even the yucky Storm I got out of I could pick larger text (point size). Anyone know if this was left out or how to fix? I am developing an application in which the layout is independent of screen resolution.
Now my problem is that in TextView the textview layout does change itself when the resolution of screen changes but the size of text remain same.I want that when the resolution is high, according to that the text size should also adjust itself(i.e. text size should be changed).And similarly when resolution is low the text size should also shrink.But here when i reduce Y-AXIS to an extent the text vanishes.I will really appreciate any answer.
I accidentally dragged my text message icon on the main screen into the remove bucket. Can anyone tell me how to restore this? I cannot text anyone without it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI learned from several discussions of this group that BitmapFactory.decodeFile() allocates heap memory outside of the "java heap". My app receives encrypted files from a remote server. Decoding those files needs a lot of heap space. After finishing this decoding step most of the allocated heap space will be freed by the GC. But the (total) heap size - as displayed by the DDM - remains large. In this situation there is not enough heap space outside of the "Java heap" to decode even medium sized image files using BitmapFactory.decodeFile(). At the moment I limit the size of encrypted files to ensure that the Java heap space never increases to more than 10 MB. This ensures that there is enough memory for BitmapFactory.decodeFile(). But this is not very elegant.
Is it possible to tell the dalvik-vm to reduce the (total) heap size to have more space for decoding images or is there another solution?
All of the sudden, im getting the low storage space icon above. This has happened 2 other times. I do a hard reset when that happens. I checked my phone this morning, I had 120 mb internal memory, and now im down to 2.26mb of memory. My phone gets warm, battery drains. Nothing is running! Has anybody seen or heard of this issue?

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is my first post. I've had a Moto Droid since day one, and I just love it. It is without a doubt better than any phone that I've had over the years, and that includes the iPhone, BB, etc.
However, there are 2 things that I don't understand - Font size and a spell checker. It is imposiible to read the small font size in emails or text messages.
1. Why has there not been an app to either change the font size or be able to zoom in? Picasy has incorporated multi-touch for zooming, so I've to assume that its doable! Why not have the same in an email client.
2. Why is there not an email client out there that allows for spell checking? There are many such apps for the BB! I am a terrible speller.
I am not complaining, I just want to understand the limitations from a developers prospective, as I am sure these isuues will eventually be addressed.

I did attempt to use the search feature here but didnt come up with the results I was looking for (or maybe I used it wrong?) I ask the following questions because unfortunately, I dont have good eyesight.
1. Regarding font size. I realize there is no current setting for font size on this phone (that I know of) does anyone here know if the upcoming 2.1 update will include that?
2. I know there is a text size option for the browser. However, it doesent seem to work on most websites I go to (like CNN for example) I try setting it at different sizes and nada. So far my browsing experience hasent been that good because of this (having to constantly strain my eyes looking at website text) Any tips on why the text size option doesent seem to work?
3. is there anyway to increase the text size of emails and text messages?
I'd like to enlarge selected icons if possible.

I have tried numerous launchers and have found it difficult to find any launchers that allow you to go above 72x72 resolution for icons. The only one that would was Go Launcher EX and that simply scaled them up to a barely noticeable 82x82.
Is there a launcher which allows you to load icons that are say 100x100 and that does not scale them?
How can I increase the size of the icons, can I chance the number of icons on a page so the icon size increases?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am designing a home screen widget. I ran this widget on a HTC Hero device, which has a screen of 320 pixels * 480 pixels with mdpi. It ran perfect on HTC Hero. The widget takes 3 cells * 2 cells space, i.e. 240 pixels * 200 pixels.Then I ran this widget on a Nexus One device, which has a screen of 480 pixels * 800 pixels, mdpi. Since Nexus One also is mdpi, so I though 240dip is equivalent to 240 pixels on Nexus One and 200dip is equivalent to 200 pixels on Nexus One, so the widget will not take 3 cells * 2 cells space on Nexus One device. To my surprise, when running on Nexus One device, the widget take exact 3 cells * 2 cells, about 360 pixels * 300 pixels, on Nexus One device.I am confused. The layout xml above specifies 240dip in width and 200dip in height for the widget, but why did it take 360 pixels * 300 pixels on Nexus One Device? What am I missing?

The file was created in Fireworks, and is a 48x48 24 bit image named appicon.png.
Anyone know of any reason why I would still get this message?
