I am having real issues reading anything. The icons are really small for as large as the screen is as well as some text thought the phone. Every phone I have ever owned had at least a small,large,larger even the yucky Storm I got out of I could pick larger text (point size). Anyone know if this was left out or how to fix? This is my first post. I've had a Moto Droid since day one, and I just love it. It is without a doubt better than any phone that I've had over the years, and that includes the iPhone, BB, etc.
However, there are 2 things that I don't understand - Font size and a spell checker. It is imposiible to read the small font size in emails or text messages.
1. Why has there not been an app to either change the font size or be able to zoom in? Picasy has incorporated multi-touch for zooming, so I've to assume that its doable! Why not have the same in an email client.
2. Why is there not an email client out there that allows for spell checking? There are many such apps for the BB! I am a terrible speller.
I am not complaining, I just want to understand the limitations from a developers prospective, as I am sure these isuues will eventually be addressed.
My application works fine on G1/Hero and emulators, but on Milestone text size is tiny. I have list box and text items are very small on Milestone device. What can be the cause of this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using the FontFitTextView that was posted in this other thread, but it isn't working exactly right for me. The measureText() call is returning a number that is obviously too small to display the string. When it runs through to find a font size that will allow the text to fit, the font size it settles on is still too big. I feel like there is some other kind of padding or margin or some other invisible that is contributing the math that makes up the width which is causing the discrepancy.For example I want to set the text of my FontFitTextView to be "10,000.25".The width of my FontFitTextView is 96 pixels, with 8px padding on both sides, so my available width is 80 pixels. The call to measureText() says that the text "10,000.25" is 64 pixels wide. This means that the current font size should be small enough to display the entire string. However, when the string is actually drawn on the TextView the last 2 characters are chopped off and all I see is "10,000." instead of "10,000.25"

1. Press Menu in browser.
2. Press More.
3. Press Settings.
From there, you'll see Text size as your first option and then simply switch it from "Normal" to Large or Huge. I choose "Large" because "Huge" sometimes makes the text a bit weird because it resizes all of the text and any text in a very small box tends to just stick out. "Large" works just fine. Now the text, even in full page views, is readable.
I was playing around with a friends original Moto Droid and due to the smaller screen size the icons are smaller and it makes the UI look cleaner. Is there any way to make the icons on the EVO smaller to "get more" space out of the screen?

I added -scale 0.2 to the Default emulator option under eclipse and launched the emulator.After that I got a really small window. I then removed the -scale 0.2 but the emulator window remains small.I can start the emulator from command line and i get the normal size, but not with eclipse.Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know how I locked it so I couldn't unlock it and just ended up deleting the entire thread. However, on my home page there is (WAS) a text messaging icon, a voicemail icon, a browser icon, and then a market icon. Somehow a second text messaging icon showed up. So there was my normal original text message icon, and then a larger one above it. So I tried deleting one of them, it would not work, so i tried the other one, did not work. Then I turned off my phone and turned it back on and now they are both gone. I tried hitting menu, then add, then motorola widgets and then messages, but the only option for a text messaging icon is the red message icon, i was the actual text message icon, HOW DO I GET IT!!?? It's bugging me very badly.

Its relentless and can only be cleared by dropping down the notification window and clicking on 'clear'. It looks like a small envelope but not very good graphically. I originally thought it was default app notification but its not. I'm rooted and have a custom rom installed. Someone please tell me how to stop it, I can't take it anymore.

When I increase text size, the character is no more displayed in the center of the button and the button's position gets shifted some pixels to the top (very strange).

I am trying to make a widget to show on the home screen(s). My problem is lets say I set my icon to 30x30 when I load the widget on the screen the Icon is the correct size but the layout itself takes up a lot more space than what is actually needed. This means that I can't really place my widget next to other icons on the screen. Its like the bounding box is 3 times bigger than the content that fills it.

I have tried wrap_content and other width/height settings but nothing seems to reduce the "Box" around my widget content. I clicked on my ATK widget and started to drag it around on my HTC Aria and it shows the bounding box around the widget and that one is the same size of the content inside same with all the other widgets on my screens.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI uploaded a couple of pics I had taken with my Evo on Androidforums and when I did I notice everyones pics in the thread were allot bigger than my pics.I had the 5.3 widescreen turned on and they told me to take it off. I did and tried taking new pics and seeing the results. The pictures did come out a a bit bigger but when I tried resizing them in photobucket the quality would be effected which makes no sense since 8m is goog enough to make a huge poster whith amazing quality.
There was also people with much bigger pics than the ones I had resized and made as big as photobucket let me and they were perfect high quality while mine which were smaller were loosing quality.
I am getting bored with my current wallpapers that came with the eris. Of The Damned posted a link a few months ago for a Picasa web album with designs and pics for android wallpapers... Oliver Erben android wallpapers... The stuff in there is great! I can only get the small icon version of the pic to bring up the "save image" option? when I hold down on the image, not the full pic. Because off this it's really grainy as a background on the phone. Anyone know how to do this, or get other free and safe (no ads or bad stuff) wallpapers on my eris?? I am concerned with some of the wallpaper apps in the market because of all of the badmouthing in the reviews. Help out an amateur! Thanks in advance for your responses!

I am trying to detect if the screen size is normal, large or small. I am using

When testing with the emulator this works for screen sizes normal and small, but large (480x800 & 480x854) returns that it is normal...

Specifically i am looking for something that can compress a photo / picture to a small enough size that it can be emailed / MMS'd.
I know that MIUI uses a separate contact picture as a small icon (automatically downloaded), and a caller picture as a fullscreen picture when you get a call (manually set from gallery), as stated here. For me app Friendcaster automatically downloads my friends' facebook profile pictures in full size, and sets them as contact pictures. Can I use these automatically downloaded pictures as fullscreen caller pictures?

View 4 Replies View RelatedJust got the DROID X from Verizon and have the small 150Mb plan. I am looking to stop all unnecessary data usage unless I specifically want to use it. I have removed the news and weather widgets from my home screen and turned off "data enabled" and "background data" in settings/data delivery. I am around wifi all day so I can enable that if I want to download an app.Is there anything else anyone can recommend or will that stop the majority of back and forth data transfer from the phone?

Is there not a setting to show high res quality and to make it appear larger on the screen? I just switched from the Evo and know that it was a similar issue on there. just curious if there is a known work around for the Droid X. Other than that, I am very happy with this phone so far. The build quality is much much better than the Evo's.
