In win for mobile is it possible to sort your contacts by company name in the same way as in Outlook. I use HTC Desire in my work and I have 1200 contacts. It is impossible to remember all names, but I remember the company name. It would be a nice feature in Android.

I've set up my Desire to synch email, contacts and calender with Outlook. All seems to work fine except when I try to lookup a contact from the company directory. It never finds anyone. This worked on my old WM device. Am i doing something wrong or is there something I need to do to synch the directory first?

My questions are as below: How easy is it to synch calendar & contacts from MS Outlook Express to Desire (and vice versa)? I'm using Win XP on my PC, if that's significant. Is there an Excel type app for Android? I have a few spreadsheets I like to keep on my moby, backed up on my PC.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that if i revise a contact in outlook and then sync with my HTC-Desire the revised contact is added as a new -linked- contact and I still see the old contact details. If I than delete one of the two contacts, they are both deleted.
My questions:
- Are revisions always synced as a new, linked contact
- How can i take care that simple changes ares simply updated in contacts
- How can I delete only one of the two contacts
I'm trying to run HTC Sync to share my contacts from outlook 2010 (beta) to the phone, yet HTC Sync tells me there are no contacts there. Is there any way to sync between the 2, or do I need to manually add them?

I've noticed than when synching with Outlook Contacts on the PC, some fields are not copied to the phone, for example the 'car' field, which is an additional phone number field.
Other than this, My previous phone was a BB Storm2. At the moment, My opinion is that, THe HTC desire is faster than the bb, its browser much better, but for day to day 'real world' use, the bb is much much better. More reliable, and although less options, but gives you those that you realy need.

Just having some issues with syncing my outlook contacts and calendar appointments.
I googled it and followed these instructions: HTC Desire - Using HTC Sync
I used the HTC Sync installer that�s in the supplied microSD card to install but that didn't work so I have downloaded latest HTC Sync But when I get to the next step, "Setting up HTC Sync to recognize your phone" the instructions are:
First of all, step 1. seems pretty pointless coz you go to that part of the phone and don't make any changes. When I get to step 2 I can do what the instructions says but the phone doesn't attempt to find the HTC sync on my computer, it does nothing. I don't get a message saying its unable to find the computer, i can change the setting to HTC Sync and click done and thats all that happens.
Would love some help with this one, I've tried googling but can't find a difinitive answer to this issue.
Here are my details..
1.) Model Number: HTC Desire A8183
2.) Firmware Version: 2.1-update
3.) Baseband Version 32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11
4.) Kernel Version: 2.6.29-3cb3dfbf

Can anyone help to understand how to sync MS outlook task with HTC desire along with contacts and calender. This is a basic feature should be in all mobile phones, but seems to be missing in HTC.

I would say that Company as a PIM entry is the most elementary feature of a PIM.Today I have a Windows phone (WM5), which has a great PIM for business contacts, with email address, business phone, switchboard phone, web address, company name, business address, private address, etc, etc.On Andoid Market I find nothing similar.It is unbelievable! View 13 Replies View RelatedThe company directory is still not working in Android 2.2 at least on my EVO 4G. But the good news is that you dont need it to work. There is a better way. I kept thinking that Google was supposed to be the king of searching, so I could not accept the fact that you cannot atleast search by company name. After doing some digging I found out a way to find contacts by company name.Press the "+" sign next to "Phone" on your home screen then select "Widgets" next select "Google Search" then select "People" and place the search bar on your home screen. Now you can search your contacts by name, company, number, etc. You can select the contact and see the full contact info for that individual and dial the number from there. You can also have the search pull up related email, texts, etc. when you search for the individuals name.

I have a Droid Razr, android v. 4.0.4 and I would like to view both the name and company of each contact, instead of just the name. In the contact view settings, only the "view first name" and "view last name" options are there. Is there any way to turn on the company field in the contact list?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running 4.3 on my AT&T (not sure if that is relevant) Galaxy S3. A few weeks ago I updated it to 4.3 when I saw a message that an update was available.
I keep a lot of work contacts in the phone but over the years I've built a collection of "contacts" that have no first/last name but are simply just a "Company" field with a phone and fax number.
Before 4.3 I could use the keypad in the stock Phone app to spell out company names (e.g. I could pull up the number for "XYZ Widgets, Inc." by typing "XYZ", just like searching for a person's name).
Ever since 4.3 I've been unable to do this. I go into my contacts and they are still shown there. But they do not show up when I'm typing them out. So I have a workaround but it's cumbersome.
Any settings I can change to try to fix this? I took some screen captures of the menu options I have under "call settings" in the Phone app. Link: [URL]

View 2 Replies View RelatedVery odd, but on Saturday, my phone game me the "almost out of space" icon on the top of the screen. I checked which apps were hogging the most space, and Contacts Storage was number one at 27 megabytes, twice the amount that it typically sits at.
So I turned of all of my syncs, deleted my contacts, and went back into my syncs to enable them all again, but then I noticed that Facebook was listed twice. I'm assuming this was because of the new Facebook update.

even my old samsung flip phone had this option. it's just useful to be able to put messages i want to keep into a separate folder rather than having to keep it in my inbox and lock it.
Is there any way for me to get them back? Oh please, please tell me that there is. I was prepping my phone to transfer all of the contacts over. I spent a long time in Outlook updating the contacts. Then I deleted all of my phone contacts so that no "bad" info would flow back into Outlook. I hit sync, and viola all Outlook contacts are erased.

View 3 Replies View RelatedDo a lot of downloading of mixes etc on my phone and find that a lot of the time if I leave it the download fails. If I sit there and touch the screen now and again to stop it switching off then it works every time. Its over wifi btw.
