Imported all of my contacts from outlook that include the country codes (mostly +44 for UK). The desire does not recognise these numbers when I try and dial - Is there an easy way round this without editing every contact

I loaded Leedroid's 1.4c rom and the latest radio onto my desire.i rooted thru unrevoked.my SD Card wasn't recognised in the desire itself..I didn't place a partition in at prior to loading the rom, i have since partitioned the sd card added ext3 thru GParted and placed the card in and still it is not recognised..(my mistake for not reading/following instructions)i want to get rid of the current rom and place another rom on there, but i am unable to, until i can get the sd card mounted...i can chuck a new rom on the SD Card thru the laptop card reader but when i place it in the Desire, it is not seen when i chuck the desire into the pc it is not recognised either, drivers not found, but i did add the usb drivers prior to root with unrevoked.

My questions are as below: How easy is it to synch calendar & contacts from MS Outlook Express to Desire (and vice versa)? I'm using Win XP on my PC, if that's significant. Is there an Excel type app for Android? I have a few spreadsheets I like to keep on my moby, backed up on my PC.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that if i revise a contact in outlook and then sync with my HTC-Desire the revised contact is added as a new -linked- contact and I still see the old contact details. If I than delete one of the two contacts, they are both deleted.
My questions:
- Are revisions always synced as a new, linked contact
- How can i take care that simple changes ares simply updated in contacts
- How can I delete only one of the two contacts
I'm trying to run HTC Sync to share my contacts from outlook 2010 (beta) to the phone, yet HTC Sync tells me there are no contacts there. Is there any way to sync between the 2, or do I need to manually add them?

I've noticed than when synching with Outlook Contacts on the PC, some fields are not copied to the phone, for example the 'car' field, which is an additional phone number field.
Other than this, My previous phone was a BB Storm2. At the moment, My opinion is that, THe HTC desire is faster than the bb, its browser much better, but for day to day 'real world' use, the bb is much much better. More reliable, and although less options, but gives you those that you realy need.

Just having some issues with syncing my outlook contacts and calendar appointments.
I googled it and followed these instructions: HTC Desire - Using HTC Sync
I used the HTC Sync installer that�s in the supplied microSD card to install but that didn't work so I have downloaded latest HTC Sync But when I get to the next step, "Setting up HTC Sync to recognize your phone" the instructions are:
First of all, step 1. seems pretty pointless coz you go to that part of the phone and don't make any changes. When I get to step 2 I can do what the instructions says but the phone doesn't attempt to find the HTC sync on my computer, it does nothing. I don't get a message saying its unable to find the computer, i can change the setting to HTC Sync and click done and thats all that happens.
Would love some help with this one, I've tried googling but can't find a difinitive answer to this issue.
Here are my details..
1.) Model Number: HTC Desire A8183
2.) Firmware Version: 2.1-update

Can anyone help to understand how to sync MS outlook task with HTC desire along with contacts and calender. This is a basic feature should be in all mobile phones, but seems to be missing in HTC.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've had my HTC Hero for a few months now, I am running windows 7 (64bit) so I had to use the Vista drivers before I could use HTC Sync. Fair enough, I did that and it worked perfectly up until this morning when I tried to update the ROM to the official one off of the HTC website. I was sync'd with my pc and ran the ROM update, everything was going well until it unexpectedly told me that there was no connection between the PC and the phone anymore and to check the USB cable. Since then I'm unable to sync with HTC Sync at all. I can use the phone as a USB Storage device and device manager see's that I have an Android phone plugged in but it doesn't recognise it as a Hero anymore. I have tried hard resetting the phone, and uninstalling/reinstalling HTC Sync and the drivers, I've also tried it on a different PC (also running win 7 64 bit), and a virtual PC running XP. It seems like a driver problem but I've tried them from a few sources and it's still not working .

I spent a long time in Outlook updating the contacts. Then I deleted all of my phone contacts so that no "bad" info would flow back into Outlook. I hit sync, and viola all Outlook contacts are erased.

The contacts sync as expected but everytime I perform the sync the time on my Hero is set 30mins forward which would correspond with the time in the eastern states of Australia. I've checked the timezones on my PC & Hero and they are set correctly. I've scoured the net for fixes but haven't found a fix for this annoying issue. I did discover that in a previous version of HTC Sync you could set the timezone within HTC Sync during the installation if it detected a mismatch, but I wasn't presented with the option to set it to get it's time from the PC...

I noticed that some of my contacts weren't making it to my contact list on my phone, but they were on my PC. It was very random. Some were there, but some weren't. I was trying to fix it just now and somehow deleted 52 contacts from my PC!I guess when it sync'd this time, it used the contact list on the phone as the primary and since those 52 contacts weren't on the phone...it just deleted them from my Outlook. Very frustrating because I don't know which ones were deleted.

I have a Droid maxx which I use for personal and business use. I have been able to use separate apps to view my personal (gmail) email and work email from Outlook, however, I have not been able to find a way to view my Outlook contacts and calendar on the phone without syncing my phone to outlook. I do not want to have my business contacts comingled with my personal contacts, so is there an app I can use to simply view my outlook contacts and calendar with out a sync to my phone?

I have/had a T-Mobile Dash and I love it but its time to move on The 2 biggest deals breakers for me was no tethering (sp?) with my laptop and no sync for outlook (basically for calender as contacts get less updating and go directly on the phone) Tether- hopefully someone will make it work (come on, I got the internet on my Dash for 5.99 with just 2 proxy settings) Well back to the point
There are a couple of ways to get your contacts to your G1. I tried downloading the Wrike program and guess what, it does not work because I don't have Exchange Server 2007 yet maybe 90% of this site doesn't either I tried exporting my Outlook contacts into a CSV file then importing them into my Google contacts but some names did not come up properly, so that did not work.............
After a bit of fiddling I was able to sync my Outlook email, calendar and contacts. It looks great and I'm quite pleased except for one thing. The listing of my contacts is by first name then last. Unfortunately there does not seem to be any way to have the Droid reorder the contacts list by last name first. I've spoken with other Droid owners and they have no problem with first name then last, but for me it's a real time waster having to "find" a particular individual, as for many of them I don't know their first names, just last. Is there a way that I am unaware of to sort the contacts by last name first? Our IT guy discovered a work around, but it entails going through each of my contacts and changing the way the names are displayed in the "Full Name" category. For over 200 contacts this will take some time.

I'm trying to sync my contacts on my Droid with Outlook (Exchange). it sort of works, but not quite right. when i got my phone, i believe the guy at the store moved my contacts from my old Blackberry to my Droid (not sure). I now have duplicate entries in Outlook for all of my contacts; it appears that when the Droid syncs it creates entries in Outlook; but when i change or add entries in Outlook i don't see the changes on my Droid. all i want is for the contacts on my Droid and Outlook to be the same, and changes in one to affect the other.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI got HTC Sync set-up to sync up my outlook calendar and contacts. ran it through, and other than truncating address fields to 25 chars, it all worked fine. But then I ran it again, to cehck it was all ok giong forwards (ie expecting no updates), and it:Deleted 32 of my 200 contacts (seemingly at random) from Outlook - left them on the phone. If I manually replace them oon Outlook then duplicates are created on the phone on next sync. Altered 3 recurring appointments (birthdays, 3 out of about 40 in my calendar) in Outlook so that instead of running from midnight to midnight (ie all day events) they run from 23:00 to 23:00, and hence show up over two days. Claimed to have updated a handful more contacts, though I can't see what may have changed. how to avoid? Number 2 is particularly odd. I'm guessing it's something to do with daylight saving, but why only 3 of 40? I've checked the settings against other non-affected appointments, and can see no difference!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using two different devices (iPhone and HTC) and I was able to sync contacts photos from the two devices without problem using Outlook...after I replaced Touch Pro, installed HTC Sync 2.0.18 and did my first sync... I noticed something weird...HTC Hero only synced contacts photos that were set by the HTC Touch Pro originally! and didn't sync any contact photo was set by the iPhone! sure thing the photos are working with Outlook without problem and I was able to sync them to the Touch Pro without a problem...

Obviously I shouldn't have synced contacts from Outlook and just let them sync from Google. Is there any easy way to fix this and get rid of all the Outlook contacts?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI got my hero about a week ago and since then I'm still trying to import my contacts from outlook, but no picture imported although in outlook they appear with picture. All my contacts with picture in outlook were backed up from my old iphone. I tried to synchronize my hero with those contacts, but no picture. After that i tried to export contacts from outlook in a *.vcf file, uploaded them into google contacts, but still no picture. Also another problem: i deleted all my contacts in google and then synchronized my phone with it, but instead of downloading them from the hero, it appears that google overwrites the phone contacts. Is there any way to overwrite google contacts with the phone ones? Or at least merge them?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone tried using HTC Sync to synchronise Outlook Calendar and Contacts with the Hero on Vista (Ultimate)? I have had great problems getting the phone and PC/Laptop to recognise each other, despite turning off Firewall and Antivirus and allowing HTC Sync to run as Administrator. I have only got it to work once on my Laptop, despite uninstalling and reinstalling, and I only got it to work a second time on my PC after several reboots. I don't have problems synching other devices (Treo 650 and TomTom) so I don't think it is a hardware problem.
If you use Categories for Calendar entries in Outlook then watch out, as the Hero Calendar does not support them and deletes them all, which resulted (for me) with a lot of duplicate entries in Outlook. One-way syncs (PC -> Hero) might be the only solution if I want to keep Categories. Other than that, the phone is great. I am sure that the inevitable teething problems will be sorted out soon.
I'm having a strange problem with a new HTC Hero: I've installed the driver (recognized correctly in device manager) on Windows XP and also the HTC Sync 2.0.4 without problems. However, when trying to synchronize with Outlook 2003, it works with my contacts, but then it stops and says the synchronization failed and no calender entries are copied.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an HTC Incredible on Verison running Android 2.1. With the Blackberry (NOT Exchange), I was easily able to sync contacts, calendar, Tasks, and notes with my BB. I cannot seem to do this with the Incredible.
I actually found an HTC Sync program on my phone which I installed and was able to sync the calendar and contacts once, but I have been unable to do so again. I have not found any snyc for notes or tasks. This seems like such a standard need that I cannot understand why it is not a basic ability on this awesome phone.
Anyway, I need to be able to sync my contacts, calendar, tasks and notes AND I would like to be able to backup my phone to my PC.
