I have a Droid Razr, android v. 4.0.4 and I would like to view both the name and company of each contact, instead of just the name. In the contact view settings, only the "view first name" and "view last name" options are there. Is there any way to turn on the company field in the contact list?

I have a droid raxr maxx with android 4.1.2
Recently I did a bunch of updates and started using google now. My phone performance has been significantly degraded as a result.
My most pressing issue is that after taking a photo, when I go to view it, it shows as normal brightness for 1 second and then gets very dark. This happens for every image as I scroll through them individually. It appears that I now have some sort of editing option or maybe google photos or picassa has hijacked my viewer. When I click on the gallery app this dimming issue does no occur. I am unable to view photos from the camera after taking them.
I just installed Android Sync on my desktop PC in hopes of syncing all my Verizon Outlook email contacts into my new Droid. I ran th eprogram and now I have duplicate contacts in Droid. how to remove duplicate contacts in Droid Razr Maxx?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running 4.3 on my AT&T (not sure if that is relevant) Galaxy S3. A few weeks ago I updated it to 4.3 when I saw a message that an update was available.
I keep a lot of work contacts in the phone but over the years I've built a collection of "contacts" that have no first/last name but are simply just a "Company" field with a phone and fax number.
Before 4.3 I could use the keypad in the stock Phone app to spell out company names (e.g. I could pull up the number for "XYZ Widgets, Inc." by typing "XYZ", just like searching for a person's name).
Ever since 4.3 I've been unable to do this. I go into my contacts and they are still shown there. But they do not show up when I'm typing them out. So I have a workaround but it's cumbersome.
Any settings I can change to try to fix this? I took some screen captures of the menu options I have under "call settings" in the Phone app. Link: [URL]
When searching your People Contacts is there a way to change the setting to include the ability to search contacts by company name?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen using the smart search function of the dialer or searching in contacts my Magic only searches numbers and names, not company names.I have hundreds of contacts that are just companies (airlines, couriers, etc. etc.) with no specific contacts at that company.Those contacts are effectively inaccessible on my phone now as the only way to find them is to scroll through the hundreds of blank contacts to find what I am looking for.When I synchronized contacts with my HTC magic, any contact with a company name, but nothing in the 'Name' field had the word 'unnamed' added to the name field.The only work around I can see is to use Outlook to manually add the company name to each of these contacts and then change the 'File As' field to read the company name.

If the data in the listview do not contain the data of user choice then user should be able to enter data. If the data is already there in the list user will be able to select the data using custom selector. If a selection is made in the list view and user wanted to enter data in the text field at the bottom after selection then the marker in the list view should be unselected. I tried to use onclick() method on edit text using click listener. First time when it is clicked, edit text is getting focus and onclick() method is not fired. And when it is clicked second time, onclick() method is fired and notifyDataSetChanged() method is called. I tried to call the notifyDataSetChanged() method from the Focus Listener, list view selection is gone in my first attempt and edit text is not receiving any data input from the keyboard (frozen).

1. Left one - for viewing call log details
2. Right one - for calling that person
I rooted my Razr M (XT905) to remove a bunch of the pre installed apps.All worked fine and phone runs great. But I cant import my contacts from my google account. Gmail and app store syncing works fine, just contacts are missing.
When I access the options menu in the contact section, google isn't showing. When I look at the accounts in the settings menu, the google account is there and has the option checked to sync 'people details' (guessing this is the same as contacts).
So I'm guessing I've deleted something when removing the apps.
I am considering buying an Andoid phone,and I have checked out the features on my wife's Hero. On such a business phone.I expect a Contacts/PIM that can organize all my business contacts by their companies. I would say that Company as a PIM entry is the most elementary feature of a PIM.Today I have a Windows phone (WM5), which has a great PIM for business contacts, with email address, business phone, switchboard phone, web address, company name, business address, private address, etc, etc.On Andoid Market I find nothing similar.It is unbelievable! All I find is a Group feature, which is something completely different. This is a show stopper for me.How can Android work for business people? Does anyone know of a PIM with full business card features?

View 3 Replies View RelatedThe company directory is still not working in Android 2.2 at least on my EVO 4G. But the good news is that you dont need it to work. There is a better way. I kept thinking that Google was supposed to be the king of searching, so I could not accept the fact that you cannot atleast search by company name. After doing some digging I found out a way to find contacts by company name.Press the "+" sign next to "Phone" on your home screen then select "Widgets" next select "Google Search" then select "People" and place the search bar on your home screen. Now you can search your contacts by name, company, number, etc. You can select the contact and see the full contact info for that individual and dial the number from there. You can also have the search pull up related email, texts, etc. when you search for the individuals name.

So far every view I set up worked fine, but now I am trying to create a ListView (including single_choice_mode) within a child view of the ViewFlipper, but my attempt only let to a NullPointerException. I'm trying to create a multiple selection list where the selection is represented graphically rather than with checkboxes.My list has checkboxes, but I want them to serve a different purpose. I'm using a cursor to hold my data and created a custom view binder for the SimpleCursorAdapter. I did this for the checkboxes and general flexibility.So far I haven't even been able to show one line as being selected. I've enabled multiple selection on the list and denied the children of the list item focusability. I've tried manually changing background color with the position fed in through the list item click listener. But the wrong items get changed and they don't even change to the right color. I've enabled touch focusability with no improvement either.Ideally, I'd like the trackball highlight focus bar to appear in multiple places. But I don't think this is possible unless you use the drawable directly. But I don't know how to find or apply it. My next idea was to have a slim view bar that changes color. But I had the same problem with the wrong item being selected so I never finished trying to guess the index position to see if this would work. My most recent idea is to completely swap out the view for another one if it's selected. But I have no idea how to do this either. I'm thinking of using an array list to store the _id s of the items that need a different view to get around the wierd selection problem. I'm also thinking of passing in the ID field as my from and the selection view as the to for my adapter. Then I'd intercept it with my binder and change the view accordingly. But once again, I'm not sure how to do this successfuly.

I am working on an application where I need to display some locations on a map and in a list view where the user should be able to toggle between these views(activities?). I want the toggle button(s) to be in my custom titlebar like in the images (if they are attached). What is the best practice for this? Tab view seems like a solution but can I customize the tab buttons? Should the map and list be in different activities or the same? Now I have two different activities one extending MapActivity and one extending ListActivity but no way to toggle between them. Is it possible to load activities into a FrameLayout?
