View 2 RepliesSome of my contacts are first name last, and others are first name first. Is there anyway to show this in Droid X? I can do this in Google and HTC Incredible, but do not know how to do it in DX.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSupposedly with Froyo there is the option to sort contacts by last name. However I do not see any way to do this on the Droid 2. Has anyone been able to do this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there some way to sync my contacts in Evolution, kmail(not prefered), thunderbird ( I found a round about way of doing it), or some sort of program just accessing the motorola cliq?

there's a whole lot more between the first and last entry but you experts probably know exactly what I am referring to.
I just got the droid today. It has crashed like 7 times. I will be playing around on it and it acts like it is getting overloaded and shuts off and restarts. anyone else with this problem? what could be causing this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedLong story short; got my wife a incredible yesterday, I was at work and she sent me a few pics of our son received them fine. Today she tried sending me pics of our newborn nephew while I was at work and everytime id receive this message "download of message(no subject) was not successful" I had her delete the most recent apps she had downloaded and restart her phone and still same issue.
I had my friends send me picture messages n I received them fine.
Very odd, but on Saturday, my phone game me the "almost out of space" icon on the top of the screen. I checked which apps were hogging the most space, and Contacts Storage was number one at 27 megabytes, twice the amount that it typically sits at.
So I turned of all of my syncs, deleted my contacts, and went back into my syncs to enable them all again, but then I noticed that Facebook was listed twice. I'm assuming this was because of the new Facebook update.
Did this happen to anyone else? Any theories?
I got my DroidX on 7/15 and on 7/16 linked all my phone contacts who have facebook to a facebook contact via social networking. I kike how the phone sets the picture, I like that in the contact entry it shows me thier status on facebook. What I don't like is that when I open up a contac that is both a phone contact and a facebook contact and I tap the facebook icon on the contact screen I get 3 options (view profile, write on wall, and poke). If I open up a contact that is only facebook and tap that same Icon I get 4 options (view profile, message, write on wall, and poke). Is there some reason linking the facebook contact to a phone contact needs to remove that option? I'd like to be able to send a facebook message from the phone to any contact as easy as I can send a text message.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if there is an app or a procedure to get your facebook contacts to automatically sync with your phones contacts as well as your google contacts. For instance if you add someone as a friend on facebook and they have their email and phone number filled out in their profile, that information would automatically be added to your phone. Is there a way to do that?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI see I can access contacts by clicking on phone icon on the main screen and also clicking on contacts in the programs list. The latter has more contacts than the one in the phone dialer program.
View 3 Replies View RelatedThere were some valid complaints in 1.5 that you could only see your contacts sorted by first name. The only way around this was to re-enter all the info - backwards. (Smith John instead of John Smith)
I just noticed in 2.1 that in contact "Edit" mode if you tap the name field, there is a drop-down to select the "display name" (either firstname lastname or lastname firstname).
I bought my HTC Magic yesterday, I already love it (difficult learning to type msm though), but it annoyes my that I can't seem to figure out how to sort my contacts by first name. As it is now they are by last name, and that does not work for me. Can anybody tell me a way to do it, so that I don't have to change each contact manually?

There is no "Display Options" button. Does anybody have this?
I am very new to this android stuff. I used to have the iphone, but decided to switch over. Now, I have a very newbie question. How do you sort the contacts to "Last Name" first rather than "First Name" first?
View 13 Replies View RelatedToday I finally went down to Best Buy to go and exchange my phone. The guy who did it was glad to do so. I was able to keep my same SD card. After the process was finished (in which I also bought a new car mount), I proceeded to browse the rest of the store.
I went and sat in the Studio room for a while to play with the phone, I noticed it had a loose screen. It was a very slight movement, but highly noticeable. The thing would kind of 'tap' every time I hit the back button. With the phone closed, you could push or sandwich the 2 parts together and see it smush and retract. I'm telling you it was very small but noticeably or else i would not be typing about this. My dusty phone that I had just exchanged, purchased on the launch day, was never loose and never 'tapped'.
Now I was debating for about 30 minutes weather I should go and try and get another one or not.
After a while I started obsessing over it and was making my screen go tappity tap tap tap......so I decided to go back and see about exchanging the phone. I hadn't even left the store yet.
There was a new guy at the counter, and I told him my issue. He pulled out 2 more boxed phones and also his own Droid from his pocket. He told me his did that too, and then we started comparing the phone i had to the new ones. I found on that didn't tap or wobble or anything. I asked if I could get that one and he said he had to go ask his manager. So he went and came back and said his manager told him that it isn't a defective phone and they cant return it. Then I said "what about if you showed him both of these phones?" You could very obviously tell that this new one was much tighter than the one I had got. So he said he would try, and went and asked his manager again. He came back and told me his manager wouldn't let him and that he says "all of them will eventually become loose." Almost exactly. Then I asked if I could talk to the manager.
I am not one to cause a scene but this was making me mad. I wasn't getting loud or anything but I was trying to get a different answer than "no". So the manager comes and starts saying bulls**t about how the slider mechanism needs room and that's how all slider phones are blah blah. This was the same guy who sold me the phone on launch day. I tried to explain to him that my old phone i had exchanged due to tons of dust under the screen was never loose and has been TIGHT since I bought it on launch day. He then showed me on the new phone I wanted to get that it also clicks, if you press on the OTHER side of the phone by the search key. I kept trying to convince him that it is RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM. The phone I had been given is LOOSE and the one I want is NOT. But I wasn't successful. He wouldn't change his mind no matter what. I told him I'd rather have my old phone back and he said he could do that. Then he got out my old phone because it was still there and he tried to convince ME that it was clicking on the search key side. I was so mad. He wouldn't give me another new phone but he would give me my old defective one back.
Somewhere in this conversation he also made a comment about "because you keep your phone in your pocket" referring to the dust under the glass on my old phone. Are you f*****g kidding me? Who doesn't put their phone in their POCKET???
anyway, I kept the phone I was given with the "tap" screen. When the slider is open, the screen also rocks forward and back a tiny noticeable amount. My dusty phone that I returned had no wobble or "tap" at all. I swear I am not lying. I felt really bad after he turned me down after I tried all I could to prove him wrong.
Sorry this was so long but I had to share... I plan on going to a different best buy and trying again, this time maing sure I check which phone they give to me. Or I might just snap my droid in two and go and return it for a new one. I have the Black Tie warranty thing. If anybody actually reads this whole story, what do you think I should do? And am I in the wrong here? This guy basically made me feel like an a**hole for even asking about it.
EDIT: wow and I just realised that the speaker on the back of my phone is totally DENTED. I am starting to question weather Best Buy are actually selling used droids as new....

In win for mobile is it possible to sort your contacts by company name in the same way as in Outlook. I use HTC Desire in my work and I have 1200 contacts. It is impossible to remember all names, but I remember the company name. It would be a nice feature in Android.

View 3 Replies View RelatedSays it all in the title really. None of my contacts can be viewed when I create a new sms message, it just repeats one name over and over and over again. The only way I'm managing to message people at the moment is by using old messages and replying.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a rooted 2.2 DX, and on 2.1 when I got a new text it would jump to the top of the list with a blue dot next to it. Now ever since I upgraded to 2.2 I still get the blue dot next to my unread text messages but it doesn't jump to the top of the list. I don't know if that is just how froyo works now or if it's an issue just on my phone.

Several of my music tracks had unicode characters- all do not display correctly. good alternative player or way to make default player work properly?
