I bought my HTC Magic yesterday, I already love it (difficult learning to type msm though), but it annoyes my that I can't seem to figure out how to sort my contacts by first name. As it is now they are by last name, and that does not work for me. Can anybody tell me a way to do it, so that I don't have to change each contact manually?

View 2 Replies View RelatedVery odd, but on Saturday, my phone game me the "almost out of space" icon on the top of the screen. I checked which apps were hogging the most space, and Contacts Storage was number one at 27 megabytes, twice the amount that it typically sits at.
So I turned of all of my syncs, deleted my contacts, and went back into my syncs to enable them all again, but then I noticed that Facebook was listed twice. I'm assuming this was because of the new Facebook update.
Did this happen to anyone else? Any theories?
I just got my magic and want to transfer all contacts from my old phone(se w880) but its not working so far. On w880 the only option is 'send all contacts via bluetooth however when i tried it can't find magic. Is there any other way to do it?

I've had my Magic for about 3 months now and I do like it a lot, but I want to back up my list of telephone contacts to the sim card so that in the event of a change of handset in the future, my contacts are safe and can be restored to another phone.I can import from the Sim card ok, but how do I do this in reverse? I don't want to sync with Google, I want a copy of my contacts safe elsewhere. Is this possible?

Been loving my Magic and appreciate the help to date. One issue I haven't been able to resolve is that when we imported my contacts, they have come in last name 1st, rather then the other way which is a PITA when you had contacts saved as #### work etc.

View 3 Replies View RelatedThere were some valid complaints in 1.5 that you could only see your contacts sorted by first name. The only way around this was to re-enter all the info - backwards. (Smith John instead of John Smith)
I just noticed in 2.1 that in contact "Edit" mode if you tap the name field, there is a drop-down to select the "display name" (either firstname lastname or lastname firstname).
When importing my contacts from the sim card, they all now appear on the phone back to front i.e: natwest bank now appears as bank; natwest and its a major ache. Can anyone shed some light on this?

But i have a problem: I imported the contacts from GMail and from the SIM card. Nearby all of my contacts are now two times in the phone, once tagged Google and once tagged Phone...
How can i merge this contacts? I also saw that my GMail Contacts has a group called 'Starred in Android' but it is empty... I also starred some numbers in my Magic, but only Phone-contacts.
Is there an application which could help me to do that or can i upload my Phone-contacts to GMail so that i could use the contacts manager of GMail?
In our company we are using Google Apps and I have a none branded Magic (delivered by 3 in Denmark) with Android 1.5 and a ROM with build number 2.16.401.5.In the phone's Calendar app I can create entries that will sync perfectly with any of my online Google Calendars but I can't create a new contact that will sync to my Gmail Contacts. On the phone there is only one Contact source (Phone) available.

Does anyone know whether it is possible to push contacts from my HTC Magic to my Camry over bluetooth? I cannot find a way on the phone to beam or send or push contacts and the car requires the transfer to begin from the phone. I have sucessfully paired my phone and the car. I am suspecting that the present bluetooth stack for the Magic does not include the profile necessary to beam contacts, but would appreciate any insight from anyone. The sync must be done directly from my desktop to the phone, so what I am looking for is a one step sync. For security reasons I can not use a two step process where I sync notes to google email or other providers. It is not necessary to sync email, only calendar and contacts. Is this possible?
