As the title says: my mail notification shows that I have six emails (that is: the white number in the green circle) no matter whether I have no emails or plenty. When I delete my emails, it still shows six. I've tried rebooting. It used to work OK. Any ideas?

I have finally figured out why I don't always get a notification for new mails on my HTC Hero.
I have setup an Exchange account for the build in mail application that comes with the phone, and I want it to give me a notification when I receive a new e-mail.
This will however only happen if the mail ends up in the Inbox folder in my Exchange account.
I do not get any notification if I have a rule that moves the mail automatically to a sub folder in the Inbox.
I like to sort my mails using a folder for each sender and I use the rules in Outlook to do this automatically, but this prevents the notification feature in the HTC Hero mail application from working.
I can still refresh a folder in the phone mail program and download all received mails, but no notifications and I have to do this manually.
It seems to me that the Inbox folder is only folder to be updated automatically by the ActiveSync connection.
I have my Data Syncronization settings set to As Items Arrive.
So do any of you out there know how to get the mail program to download all new mails as they arrive and give a notification on the phone, not matter what folder the mail ends up in on the Echange server?
My HTC MAGIC stopped receiving mails one week ago, on the 15th oktober. And I don't know what to do..
I have tried removing my account/adding it again, it still only fetches the mails that where fetched before the 15th oktober.
I have the same mailsetup on my own computer, fetches new mails just fine, no problems.
Any suggestions what to do?
I'm new to these forums as I'm very new to using an HTC Desire Android phone. As a previous iPhone owner I was a little nervous to port over but, I've been extremely pleased with my new android handset and OS. However one thing has been driving me crazy. The other day i decided to ring my voice mail and found that I had 3 missed voice mails. No where on the home screen of my phone or settings screens or anywhere else I looked on my phone was I notified of my Voice Mails. I rely quite heavily on accessing my Voice mails as the building I work in has terrible reception. In the past using my iPhone I could enter an area of the building that had better reception and the notification would arrive. I need this functionality, especially as at the moment I'm trying to get a new job, I'd be a little upset if I were to miss a golden opportunity due to no voice mail notification. I tried a few tests with my handset to make sure I wasn't loosing the plot and sure enough I do not receive any notification for my missed calls or as I mentioned earlier no reception problem straight to voice mail. The idea of having to phone 901 every time i need to check my voice mails seems a little absurd, this is 2010 surely as it is primarily first and foremost a phone I would suspect that you would be able to have this functionality. I've searched the net and there's not much talk on how to fix this problem. Sure there's talk on use an App but I'd like that as my last resort really.
This may or may not have been mentioned on these forums, I have done a search before hand and results were blank so I apologies if this has been covered. Please Please Please any one here with infinite wisdom on this matter would be a breath of fresh air.
Anyone know why this is? I think one is from the e-mail app, but the other I'm not sure where it links to. I think ti's from the account google I have added (both are g-mail). Anyway to get one notification?

I had my BB configured to disable all LED notifications while in its holster as my wife really has a big problem with flashing lights while we are sleeping. (yeah, i dont get it either...close your eyes and goto sleep!) Anyway, since getting the Droid she has started that old complaint again about my phone flashing at night...soooo...is there any way to disable LED notification for e-mails and SMS? A locale plugin would be great, but I'll take whatever I can get to keep the peace!

Twitroid has the same icon. Any idea how it's done? I don't think (or so I hope) there are 10000 similar icons. Is this red circle generated and overlaid the notification icon?

I've been using the HTC app, but have noticed that after a day or so the notification sound stops playing when I receive an email. This happened for anyone else? Anyone tried both apps for any length of time and have strong opinions over which app is better? I saw a review that said the HTC app is better but the Google one doesn't seem too bad to me... Anyone using the Google app that would care to chime in?

My home PC is where I keep those mails so when I load up Outlook and download the mails, the mails are no longer on the server. On my previous WinMo device, whilst I was away from my home PC, it would download mails and keep them on my device UNTIL I got home, opened Outlook and downloaded mails, and then, on my device the next sync would clear those mails from the device. Nice and neat. Since moving to Android recently, a niggling thing for me has been that no matter what I do from my home PC, mails never seem to disappear from my device until the number of retention days is met. I've looked at the settings over and over and can't see anything to lead me to replicating how it worked on my WinMo device. I have no need to keep emails on my device once they're downloaded at home, am I missing something or is this just the way it is? I know iPhone does it this way also and it really annoyed me for the very short time I had one.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've factory reset my phone 3 times today for data problems and push email issues. Since the last time, I have a voicemail icon in my notification bar, clicking on it tells me to call my GV number to hear 3 messages. I cleared the messages in the GV app,but the notification wont go away. It has no Clear button to dismiss. I've rebooted the phone, tried calling the number, but have not yet tried throwing it against the wall. That's next. Any ideas to help calm my OCD by dismissing this notification are appreciated.Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk

1 IMAP (Gmail) - 2 hourly
1 POP (Hotmail) - Once daily
My issue is that I am receiving alerts for the same new mail repeatedly. Here's the gist:
11:50 - New mail hits my inbox.
12:00 - I receive a notification of the new email.
12:05 - I check my inbox, but choose not to open the email at this time.
14:00 - I get a notification of a 'new' email, yet on checking it's the one received at 11:50, but still haven't opened.
15:00 - Rinse and repeat. Now, I'm not sure how many times this is happening, or even if it's everytime, but there's something definitely glitchy with mail notifications.Has anybody else noticed similar behaviour? If not I may try removing/adding my accounts back in again.
Sorry if this has Been asked a million times but can I add a yhoo mail account to the android mail app? I have tried various settings in the manual add section but can't add a yahoo mail account. would much prefer not to use the yahoo mail app from the store!
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe Original email app on my galaxy s3 one day decided to become stuck on 1 unread email. Whether i have read all emails or 5 unread emails, the app displays 1 unread email.I have tried 'Clearing cache' and 'Clear data' several times on both the email app and gmail(Gmail just for the sake of it even though it is unrelated)also, deleted all my inbox, junk and trash emails online. However, no matter what i do the icon still displays 1 unread email.
My phone is not rooted and has been and still working perfectly fine apart from this issue.I know that the issue isn't that big of a deal since technically email and everything is working, but that 1 on the email icon really annoys me.I have uploaded a screenshot of what i'm talking about just incase i haven't made myself clear.
I want to install the yahoo mail app, but I've had it installed but I'm getting 2 sets of emails, is there a way to disable the native one on the desire so the new app will only get the emails?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI've been using Go SMS Pro for a long time and have never had this problem. When I get a new text, the Go icon shows up in my notification bar as usual (I have it set to do this), but when I access that text message either from the notification bar pull-down or through the Go SMS app itself, the icon still remains in my notification bar. The only way to remove it is to pull down my notifications and hit "clear". I believe I have all my settings in order (stock notifs off, etc.).

I was deleting a sms thread from a particular person, when at the same time, this person sent me a SMS. I was not able to open the SMS by tapping on the envelope icon on the notification, however I am able to clear it from the notification. BUT each time I receive a SMS this notification pops up again, so each time i have to clear this msg. What can i do to get rid of it?

It's stuck and I can't drag it down until I hit the Home button. Has anyone seen this behavior? As far as I know there is no way to disable the dragging of the notification bar programatically. Perhaps something I'm doing is triggering a bug? Any ideas?

It's notification in the notification bar is still there which does not go even after rebooting. Notification when pulled down does like this...

The new phone is great, but being alerted you have an unimportant e-mail at 3am is not. I found the option for LED notifications, letting you select each app, but when I looked for audible notifcations it gives me the option to select the sound and adjust the volume (in another tab). So, I turned the volume down for akk notifications for a quick fix, but now I cannot hear SMS alerts. It seems to be all or nothing.

Right now it shows "2" but it has been that number for quite some time. If someone could look at the screen shot and let me know what the icon all the way to the left is, and how I can prevent it from popping up it would be great.

I'd really like to hear my notification sound, once, for each e-mail. Currently, I get a notification for the first e-mail, then no notification for subsequent e-mails until I check/clear the notification.
I'd also like to see each e-mail in the notification area (versus grouping all new e-mails in one notification), if possible, with a preview or something (similar to how my blackberry handled it). But I'd be content with just a sound.
I'm looking for an email app with really persistent notifications, that is: instead of the single tone/vibrate notification when a new email arrives, I need it to keep notifying me periodically (say, once per minute) until I open the app and read the email, or at least clear it from the notification shade.
recommend an email app that does that, or an addon/plugin/extra app that accomplishes the same thing?
Stuck downloading icons in notification bar. Have power cycled and even removed phone battery icons still show up. Dont want to do a reset. Any other suggestions for being rid of this? Just driving me crazy!
