General :: Email App Icon Stuck On 1 Unread Mail

The Original email app on my galaxy s3 one day decided to become stuck on 1 unread email. Whether i have read all emails or 5 unread emails, the app displays 1 unread email.I have tried 'Clearing cache' and 'Clear data' several times on both the email app and gmail(Gmail just for the sake of it even though it is unrelated)also, deleted all my inbox, junk and trash emails online. However, no matter what i do the icon still displays 1 unread email.
My phone is not rooted and has been and still working perfectly fine apart from this issue.I know that the issue isn't that big of a deal since technically email and everything is working, but that 1 on the email icon really annoys me.I have uploaded a screenshot of what i'm talking about just incase i haven't made myself clear.

Can you create a separate email icon for each mail account and if so how do you do this? I searched forums to no avail. I have 2 gmail accounts and one Exchange using default mail client.

should the voice mail icon have a number on it like the email or text icons if you get a new voicemail? If I get a notification, it only shows up on the task bar. I was also experiencing not recieving texts. I have since done a reset which fixed the text issue (and sleep-for now), but not the voicemail. Should I take the phone back? I fear its anotjer software bug, not hardware. I love this phone, but I'm getting very annoyed that it can't even do what its suppose to.

Wife has a Samsung Galaxy Tab with MailDroid version 3.35 (I use a PC, so am not involved when she looks at her email) and she asked how to delete an email before she opens it.
I tried but couldn't figure it out - too many icons whose function is unknown - am sure it's easy, but am baffled.

I have nothing in my inbox and the little mail icon refuses to say "0". It has been stuck on "4" for several days. Is there a way to reset the counter? I searched but didn't find any topics on this.

Using a Yahoo-based e-mail that I linked up to the Evo. The e-mail on my phone doesn't update at all with what I do on the computer with the e-mail. So I can read and/or delete the e-mail on my computer and it still keeps it as in my inbox and unread on the phone. Thus, the phone can say I show 200 unread emails even though I've read them all. Is there a way to fix this or change the settings?

most other smart phones display the unread email count as a small number in the lower right hand corner of the email application icon. I like that. After realizing that this is not supported by the GMail app, I started looking around the market for a widget that achieves this. All I found was a commercial widget, which did not satisfy me (the count did not get instantly updated when the unread mail count changed). Therefore I want to develop a widget, which accomplishes exactly that.Many of you probably have more experience in android development than I do, so I would be happy to hear your opinions. I see two ways to realize this:
1) Somehow hook into a content provider of the GMail app and extract the unread mail count directly from there. Unfortunately the GMail app is not part of the SDK and closed source. Therefore I have no idea how to find out about the internal workings of the app and how to extract the unread mail count directly from there.
2) The second approach is much more indirect and has more overhead, but it will work nevertheless. I will let the user provide google username and password and log into the google imap server directly and find out how many unread mail there are. A port of the JavaMail library for the android OS should make this quite simple. The question remains when to update the mail count. What should trigger the update? A periodic time-out? Well, my first idea would be to update it when the widget is first started and then every time a new mail notification comes in. However I don't know whether this is possible. Can I tell my application to react to notifications, which where produced by another application (GMail app in our case) ?
I really think there should be a free unread gmail widget, which accomplishes this! I would be happy to receive feedback.

I have an HTC Desire with HTC sense. I use the included mail app for two different accounts (non-gmail). On my home screen, I have shortcuts to each mailbox. However, for some reason the unread count is always the same on the two shortcuts. (I get a new message in Account A, and both shortcuts show 1 unread message.) Any idea how to fix this? Otherwise I like the mail app, and I'm not looking to change the app. Just wondering if this is a common problem with an easy fix.

I use Hot mail as my main e-mail account but I cant seem to get an unread e-mail count on the launcher pro icon in the dock! It shows up in the notification bar at the top but ideally I'd like a little red number on the dock like it works for my hand cent sms.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and I am using the native email application with an Exchange account. I do not like the email counter telling me how many unread messages I have. I have notifications turned off so I do not have anything showing up in my notification bar. Is there a way to disable to email counter?

Does anybody know of an app that will show how many unread emails you have for gmail and corporate email? I like the default program but the widget is just a shortcut and doesn't show an unread count. I looked in the market and couldn't find anything.There has to be an app for that, it seems so basic.If I'm not making sense: I have handcent and the Handcent widget puts a little number of unread messages in the corner of the widget.

Does anybody know a setting to stop K-9 mail from from showing messages already read from showing unread? If some have been deleted it reloads others from server showing them unread. POP3 clients on PC or Mac will show same messages as read. The native mail client isn't doing this but I don't like the way you cannot select and copy text in that app.

I've been using Go SMS Pro for a long time and have never had this problem. When I get a new text, the Go icon shows up in my notification bar as usual (I have it set to do this), but when I access that text message either from the notification bar pull-down or through the Go SMS app itself, the icon still remains in my notification bar. The only way to remove it is to pull down my notifications and hit "clear". I believe I have all my settings in order (stock notifs off, etc.).

Is it possible to get the mail app to display unread counts for imap folders?
I have a bunch of server-side filters that move unread email into different folders, but its not possible on the Hero to see which imap folders have unread items (except In box). I've tried both the Mail app and K-9 but couldn't find a setting to show them. Anyone else figured it out?

I'm running xtr 4.0.6.1 with LP Pro. Really like the setup and especially the dock at the bottom from LP. I have Phone, Mail, App Drawer, SMS, and GMail on my dock. I spend 80% of my time there in the Mail app as my Eris is primarily a work device for me, and my company uses Exchange. My issue is this, under Menu > Preferences, there are settings to turn on notification for Unread Gmail, Unread SMS, and Missed Calls. These notifications are down on the dock, not in the top notification bar. It's nice to have those three, but what I really need is the notification for Unread Mail (like the Sense icon has). I've been bouncing around the Launcher Pro website and came across somebody asking for exactly the same thing. In post #5 a user talks about using SDK to code it in manually via adb, and he's even provided the code. I have my work IMAP account set up in the Android e-mail application. It works fine, but every mail I send from the phone shows up as unread in the Sent folder, so when I access the account with other e-mail applications I have all these unread messages in the Sent folder. I have never had any e-mail applications mark Sent mail unread. Is there a way to prevent the Android mail client from marking sent unread?

I know this has most likely been discussed many times. But I am looking for a decent email widget.
At the moment I am using the default htc email widget, however when ever I read an email from my gmail account it doesnt update the read status so it still shows as unread.
I would like one that would update the read status and possible the support for unified inbox so I can see new mail from hotmail account and gmail.

Instead of the default apps (such as gmail or text messaging), I use k-9 mail and handcent and as such, have gmail set to not receive email, and text messaging to not use notifications. Is there any way to have LP show unread mail or messages with non-standard apps? If so, how?

You know what I'm talking about: for example when you get multiple new emails the notification icon in the status bar is augmented with a little red circle that contains number of unread mails. Twitroid has the same icon. Any idea how it's done? I don't think (or so I hope) there are 10000 similar icons. Is this red circle generated and overlaid the notification icon?

This is the only thing I miss from my Blackberry. I know I can add a message icon on the homeccreen but I want to have 1 inbox on my homescreen that displays an unread message count and the inbox includes:
-all missed calls
-voicemails
-facebook msgs
-texts
-email
Is there an app for this? or a way to do it i'm missing? search resulted in unadressed topics.

No root..Firmware v. B104...New phone, got it in late December 2012. Handled with great care. Battery icon and battery graph stuck on 50%. Never know how much battery juice I've got left. No warnings, just powers off when it's empty.
Tried:
- Factory reset
- Attempted hard reset, but I'm not sure it worked, 'cause nothing special happened on my screen.
- Completely draining the battery (as an equivalent to removing the battery. Non-removable battery on this one)
I have been looking for firmware updates, but I can't find any for my B104, and if I have understood it correctly, applying an update for the B226 will most probably render my device useless.I am quite satisfied with this phone, it is magnificent, so I do not want to root it unless I absolutely have to. I just upgraded to 2.1 from 1.5.Before my gmail account would open up to my inbox label, no matter how many unread emails I had. Now it automatically opens an email as soon as I click on the icon.Is there a way to set this back like it was in 1.5 and have gmail go straight to the 'inbox' label?

It was quite easy to find how to query for sms and phone calls (I used the search on this page) but I have not been able to find out how to query for emails.Is there anyway to find out how many unread emails the user got in their phone?
