I want to install the yahoo mail app, but I've had it installed but I'm getting 2 sets of emails, is there a way to disable the native one on the desire so the new app will only get the emails?

Sorry if this has Been asked a million times but can I add a yhoo mail account to the android mail app? I have tried various settings in the manual add section but can't add a yahoo mail account. would much prefer not to use the yahoo mail app from the store!
View 3 Replies View RelatedNot got the phone yet.. but it looks good.. as an Apple fan i love the Iphone but im not willing to change carrier or pay what they want.. so i think the hero is my best option.. What is important to me is my email.. I want to be able to sync my yahoo account with yahoo mail and the mail on the phone so if i send an email on my phone it will appear in the sent folder on my yahoo mail on the computer and vice versa if you follow... With Android being google will i be able to do this from the phones email client like the iphone does...

I've tried each and the stock but either it won't let me add multiple accounts or it doesn't receive the emails even though there are new ones in my inbox when I check it.
View 2 Replies View Relatedfor some reason i can't seem to set up my personal yahoo email account. i keep getting an error saying i'm not authenticated? i just logged in with this pc and didn't have any problems. i was trying to set it up using the mail widget google /gmail worked just fine with their widget are they trying to just force me to use gmail only anyone have any similar problems and/or tips to get it set up. i would like to move to one email account but you know how it is, you get on, you get another, people have the old address guess i could forward yahoo to gmail.

View 42 Replies View RelatedI am trying to figure out whats going on. I have 2 DI for myself and girlfriend. I have my email (gmail and yahoo) setup through the HTC Mail Client and they work fine. I setup my other phone the same way and it worked fine, but once the yahoo account completed the process of downloading the inbox, I got an Authentication Error stating the login was incorrect. The login is not wrong and works fine to login via the standard web page. I tried to delete the Yahoo Account on the HTC, but when I went to setup again I had the same issue. Not sure how or why this could be happening. Any advice is appreciated. Also verified all the yahoo email settings on my working device and they are all the same on the other device with the issue.

Mail app that was recently put in the Market, I have been using the stock mail app to check my Yahoo! mail.Last night when I checked my Yahoo! Mail through the stock mail app, I was getting weird error messages. Most of the time it would go ahead and put me in my Yahoo! inbox but there would also be a message saying "login failed." I would click OK and then go about my business because e-mails were coming through. I figured it would sort itself out at some point.This morning, it was still doing it and it was annoying, so I re-booted the phone. Same problem. So I decided to delete the account and re-install it (a few weeks ago I had some issues with my Exchange mail account and deleting then re-installing fixed them.)Now, when I try to re-install the account it says "Authentication failed. Please verify your username/password." I have tried it over and over. I know I am using the right username and password - I just used them on my desktop PC to get into the account. And my Yahoo! Mail app still works on the phone.Anyone have any ideas what has happened and/or how I can fix this? I really want to continue to be able to check my Yahoo! mail on my phone without having to use the Yahoo! app.

View 26 Replies View RelatedI have a new HTC Desire Z running 2.2. It keeps saying it cannot contact my server when I try to set up my yahoo.ca email account. Is there something in 2.2 that doesn't like yahoo? I had a Samsung Vibrant, 2.1, for a couple of weeks and my yahoo account set up perfectly. Please keep in mind that I am a total rookie with these smart phones so be gentle, i.e. no acronyms, OK?

I remember getting this with handcent and default text program but easily shut that off. Can't seem to figure it out with mail. Any ideas how to disable the default mail notifications without deleting the account in the default mail app?

I have tried manual settings as well with no success. never had this problem with HTC Touch HD which was runnig on Windows mobile unlike Desire which has an Androd platform. I have been using my old and faithful HTC touch for the past 3 years and just 2 days ago decided to get the HTC Desire. So far i am very pleased with it and getting through the initial adjustment phase very well. I will like to ask a few questions:
First, i have a few useful work documents on my old HTC touch that was opened with tomeraider, are there any free apps that can open them on the HTC desire?
Secondly, i have already added my gmail account to the HTC desire but i would like to also add my main yahoomail account too . This is my most frequently used email account and it contains a zillion emails that i would not want to synchronize to the phone each time . I guess they will just take up valuable space in the phone so is there a way of only allowing new email to enter my phone.
Finally, i have ordered a new 16gb card from ebay, when this comes, can i just directly copy the data from the current 4 gb card to the new card via my PC and everything works fine after that?

1 Exchange Account - Push
1 IMAP (Gmail) - 2 hourly
1 POP (Hotmail) - Once daily
My issue is that I am receiving alerts for the same new mail repeatedly. Here's the gist:
11:50 - New mail hits my inbox.
12:00 - I receive a notification of the new email.
12:05 - I check my inbox, but choose not to open the email at this time.
14:00 - I get a notification of a 'new' email, yet on checking it's the one received at 11:50, but still haven't opened.
15:00 - Rinse and repeat. Now, I'm not sure how many times this is happening, or even if it's everytime, but there's something definitely glitchy with mail notifications.Has anybody else noticed similar behaviour? If not I may try removing/adding my accounts back in again.
I can't seem to access my yahoo business email account through the new Yahoo app. On my computer, I login with one login id and I have access to all of my yahoo email accounts, both personal and business. When entering my yahoo business email address and password at the sign in screen of the Yahoo app, it connects me to my personal yahoo email account.Is it possible to set up this yahoo app so I can access my business email?
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo, Yahoo released its own mail and messenger apps today. I tried it out for about 5 minutes. It seems like a slimmer version of their Yahoo Go! that they used to have for Blackberry. So far, not impressed. But at least its a step in the right direction for them. They should just allow mail setup using IMAP or convert to exchange servers. That way Yahoo folks can have their calendars and contacts all synced up.

I deleted it and then put it back on the phone and I have the old emails but no new ones will transmit. Any solutions? thoughts? I am using mail droid to get mail from this account now but I want to use the main email function for this phone!

I have a gmail account which I never use, and my main Yahoo account. I set up the mail icon on the homescreen to take me to Yahoo mail, and it synchs to that account fine. However, when I try to compose an email, the only contacts it has are the 4 from my gmail account. When I send the email, though, it does come from my @yahoo.com address. Is there any way to get it to give me my contacts from Yahoo? I saw that there is a Yahoo app, but the reveiws looked pretty bad so I was hoping to just use the standard mail feature.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSo I have adjusted the Outgoing server settings from the standard Incredible settings for Yahoo IMAP to ones that are posted for the Motorola Droid, which is the same as (i believe) K-9 and my sent messages do not make it to Yahoo mail.Neither SMTP server setting within HTC mail syncs my sent mail. I am only looking for 1-way (device to server) sync. I don't expect 2-way sync.Both K-9 Mail and ROID mail are able to sync sent messages.

Every time I try to enter a reply in the box, the view jumps so I can't see what I'm typing. Is there anyway to go back to 1.2? Or am I stuck with a phone that won't do what I got it to do?
