Jun 15, 2010I've been adding, and uninstalling, I've been noticing some installed apps that I don't seem to be able to add to my screens, or use.
I was wondering what these were.
They are: -
Rosie Utility
Teeter
and
Street View (Okay I KNOW what this one is, but how do I add it to Google Earth/Maps)
Also I've noticed that on the pattern lock screen. There is a message that says, "This phone belongs to". How do I personalise this with my name?

May 17, 2010Sadly I didn't realise how bad Virgin are in my area, so I'll be cancelling my contract with them and moving back to o2...
Unfortunately this means I'll have to return the handset and get a new one from o2...
Does anyone know if there's a way of moving my apps or being able to download them again on the new handset?

May 22, 2010I just bought a new HTC Desire here in Korea. wonderful game rating system, Google decided to eliminate all of their games in Korea. I haven't even had the chance to play a single one. Since Market is tied with phone provider (or current location?), has anyone heard of a way around this? Is there a way to download games directly to a PC?

Aug 11, 2010Don't get me wrong, I didn't get a desire for gaming (i think we have got a long way to go before Android is a viable gaming platform), but I am sometimes surprised by the Desire's inability to run some games properly. Snapdragon processors seem very good at number crunching, but struggle with graphics. Look at the Quake 2 comparison of the Galaxy S and the Desire. of course, the Galaxy S is going to win, but I was surprised just how bad the Desire game out. can't have been more than 3-5 frames per second. I have seen this in other areas to, like the recent Sims 3 conversion for Snapdragon processors. Again, once things get a bit busy on the screen, the snapdragon simply starts to drop a ton of frames. So, are we seeing devs not optimising games for snapdragon processors? Or are snapdragons simply no good for games? That said, raging thunder 2 runs quite well. Like I said, this is more out of interest than anything else. Really like the Desire and never intended to do much 3d gaming on it, but some early results have been a little disappointing.

HTC Desire :: Using Apps - Desire On Desire HD
Nov 3, 2010I'm painfully considering selling my Desire and making the jump to the Desire HD. A bit annoying since I've only had it since around May, but what can I say, I'm a sucker for upgrade models I guess.
The plan is to sell my sim free Desire to fund my purchase of the HD.
So first of all, if there's any glaring reasons why this is absurd - as my instinct is telling me - feel free to call me on it and show me why I should just keep my remarkable Desire and that the HD would be a negligible upgrade.
But moving on to the topic: this is probably a silly question, but am I right to assume that apps I've bought are obviously linked to my Google account from purchase, and so I can simply redownload them on whatever new Android phone I'd get...?
As a little side note, does anyone else enter into a fit of giggling when they receive a text with the sad face? The Android sad face just looks ridiculous to me, in a way that's okay, but just very funny to me for some reason
Games :: Will A Gameloft Game For Galaxy S Run On HTC Desire?
Nov 27, 2010For reasosns I can't figure out, some of the high end GL games aren't available for the Desire, even though it's a high end phone.I'm thinking of Modern Combat Sandstorm, NOVA, Assasins Creed.I know some people with the Desire have these, and I'd LOVE to know how they got them, as I cant even get ones acquired from less savoury sources to work.The way I see it, is they're all Android games, so if I was to purchase one for the Galexy S, would it still work on the Desire? Or is there something in the coding that makes them phone specific?

Sep 3, 2010Been playing with the handset for a few days now. Playing for the sake of playing. Its time to play on something I think. Ones that use the potential of the desire, free ones to start with. Maybe something that uses motion, like some of the iphone games I have seen. Some are basic but really addictive such as getting a ball to drop down platforms before it gets crushed at the top of the screen (not sure what its called). Also a decent brain training DS type game?
