Now the Desire has been out for some time, i was wondering what people were saying the best Apps or Games were that they have installed
List you Apps / Games. Mine are:
Apps:
Handcent
Launcher Pro
Post it desk
Astro file manager
Toggle Data Widget
Games:
Trap
Word Up
Solitaire
Papa Stacker
Ive had a look around various forums and cant seem to find an answer but is there a way, WITHOUT rooting, to remove preinstalled apps on the HTC Desire. Such as Facebook ,twitter, stocks, friendstream, footprints.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWould it be true to say that I can merely root my Desire to remove useless HTC apps and just continue booting the ROM that is originally on my Desire (Sense + Eclair 2.1)? The reason why I ask this is because most of the new Froyo ROMS have some sort of functionality lost one way or another. If I keep my original ROM this would mean everything works as it used to before I rooted right? If so, can I add the functionality of App2SD+ onto my stock ROM? (Without going up unofficial Froyo's)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was frantically trying to remove a system installed app yesterday, but google wasnt much help. I found many threads on various forums, all slightly different and all assuming you have a certain level of knowledge about certain things. There was no easy, step by step guide. So I decided to post my guide up here for anyone who like me, wants to uninstall system apps but hasn't the foggiest. This is for if you have the ROM already installed and don't want to do a wipe/re-install. for ROMs you are about to install, just open the zip, browse to systemapp and delete the .apk prior to installation.Enjoy your bloatware free ROM. It goes without saying that you shouldn't remove anything you don't recognise and that if you do, you risk doing harm to your phone. I can take no responsibility for damage caused.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis isn't a /major/ problem but it will irritate me if I can't find a solution! How can I get rid of all the game demos that Orange have so thoughtfully installed on my Desire? I've had a look in Settings > Applications but the Uninstall option for these doesn't show up.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI am toying with the idea of putting a Froyo Rom on my desire, but have several questions that aren't answered in other posts.
1. Will I need to unlock my phone before, during or after changing the Rom? I am not overly bothered by the orange stuff on my phone, but am worried about losing my WiFi connections!
2. Do I need a goldcard? Some instructions say yes, other no. None mention orange handsets specifically.
3. Which is the easiest & safest method to root my phone, if I want to put the Froyo Rom on it?
4. What if I want to change Roms - do I need to do the whole process again? I've seen something about a Rom manager, but where do you get it and how does it work?
5. Which Rom do I use? I've looked at some I'd the modacco forum ROMs, but most don't actually say what you do or don't get with them.
6. What's that difference between a2sd and a2sd+? Does it come as part of the ROM or so I news to get it separately?
I've had a look for this but seem to be confusing myself. Ive read the How To guides for unbranding my Orange HTC Desire, easy enough process. But, the guides and forum say official OTA updates are not effected but this Guide states that:

Have been trying to download FingerPlay MIDI from the market, but can't navigate to download page on phone. Have downloaded various other apps from market successfully. Contacted developer who has been very helpful & he's done all possible at his end to make app visible. Have read some threads regarding visibility of certain apps in market & problem with Orange network. Does anyone know if this is still an issue? Could any other Orange UK customers take a minute to see if they can see FingerPlay MIDI in market? As long term MIDI music user this is an app I'd love to try.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI got my desire from Orange about two weeks ago and when I turned the phone on for the first time I was prompted to install 2.2. At the time I declined as I wanted to get used to the phone and avoid any issues with the Orange branded 2.2. Two days ago I decided to update, however whenever I check for updates my desire says there are no updates and that it is up to date. Has anyone else experienced this and know how I can get 2.2?

I have changed all my settings to vibrate too. Also when I go to look up a contact to send a text to someone I have double entries Sim and Phone. Does anyone know how I can get the SIM entry to disappear?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been having a read, and a few people here seem to find the Orange branding somewhat intrusive. So, how bad is it? I have a Desire scheduled to arrive on Friday from Orange (their 160 cashback via Quidco really tipped the balance), but if the branding causes huge problems I might prefer to reject the phone and save myself a lot of grief.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSince lots of people here are on Orange it seems an appropriate place to ask. Do Orange charge separately for MMS even if you are on an unlimited texts contract? I get the impression they do, which is really very irritating. I don't suppose there's any way around it by ringing up and negotiating?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm confused as to which contract I want to get with Orange.I'm looking for the cheapest option as I don't make that many phone calls, but I want to be able to use the internet on the phone.Have been looking on carphonewarehouse but I can't see which one offers the internet in the price.
View 28 Replies View RelatedI want to get a smartphone to upgrade my Nokia 6230, yes you heard it right Nokia 6230. I am a light user, mainly want to have a device that I can browse the net if/when needed in trains, while out, etc. Any voice plan will do for me. O2 would be the best option as I have broadband with them (discount monthly). Last weekend I played with HTC HD7. CPW/o2 shop didn't have a DHD demo, but I could 'feel' the dummy handset. The both look nice, but I think the problem for me is the screen size which is massive. The Desire Z looks great but i am a bit concerned with the hinge snapping up and therefore end up with a broken phone. Having said that, I am very very inclined to go for the STD Desire.
1) Good deal on quidco at the moment (orange contract): Is it true that the HTC Desire warranty on Orange is only 1-year compared to other networks at 2-years?
2) Is the Orange SW bloatware or have they made available a plain Froyo 2.2 version?
3) Do I invalidate warranty if I unlock the phone? (Apparently Orange offers the service for 20 after 3-months in contract.
Orange 3g not working. Anyone else got his problem today ?
View 6 Replies View RelatedLooking at getting the Desire but just wondering if Orange have messed about with branding etc?If they have have they ruined it at all like they have in the past .
View 11 Replies View RelatedI fancy giving rooting a go but am a little confused about what is best, I'm not to bothered about losing the orange crap but want to change fonts etc on my desire. Is it best to root and debrand or can i just root the phone? Also does any of the rooting guides still work as i have only just updated to 2.2?
Sorry for all the questions but wanna make sure i do everything right.
I've decided to get a HTC Desire but need some advice on service providers. Here are my options: T-Mobile: free phone, 18 months, 300 mins, 300 texts & unlimited net (1GB) - 25/month.
Orange: free phone, 18 months, 300 mins, 3000 texts, 500Mb net, unlimited email, unlimited calls to magic number & orange wednesdays - 25/month.
The text and calls are more than enough in both so the deal breaker is internet access & service quality. I am leaning towards Orange as I believe they have better UK coverage, 500 Mb net is probably enough (news, email & general browsing, occasional youtube) and email is free.
What do you guys think? Anyone have experience of these two networks in the UK? Does it make more sense to go with the bigger net allowance?
Lately I can be outside in Central London with 4 or more bars showing on my HTC Desire but can't make or receive any calls. This happened in the Putney area last week and yesterday I was in Camden so I thought it must be a network problem until my mate with an Orange iPhone sat next to me and starting making calls with no problem. Anyone else finding this? The phone says its dialing on the display but seconds later it says call ended. I do try various different numbers just to check but get the same results.
View 8 Replies View RelatedOn my plan I have 500mb internet usage & unlimited push email. I currently use K9 to get my mail from 2 POP ac's but the downloads from these come from my 500mb data rather than the unlimited push allowance.
