HTC EVO 4G :: Weather Widget Disappeared From Homescreen?
Jul 28, 2010I had the big version of the weather widget on my home screen till I accidentally removed it. I think I removed it. It's now blank where it formally was. This is the default weather thing that's on the home page of the phone when it's new. I am assuming I had HTC's Weather widget, but now when I try to re-add it (Plus Sign/Add Widget/Weather) I get an error that says "No room for this widget", "In order to install this widget you need to create space on a page of the Home screen". So I actually cleared everything off of the main home screen and I am still getting that "No room for this widget" error. How I can get the weather back on this page?? I can add the 2 smaller versions but not the one I formerly had.

Sep 28, 2009It's possible to always display the temp in the Android ribbon/window pane with the Weather Channel app. Long press on the City of your choice and then choose "Set as home." This will add the current temp at the top of your display. If you slide the ribbon open you will see a graphic with current conditions. Note: the display vanishes with Clear Notifications but returns the next time the app is run.

Oct 4, 2010Has anyone experienced the following two issues that I have with the Dolphin HD Web Browser.
My Setup:
- Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant (Bell Canada)
- Android 2.1
- Dolphin HD Browser [Purchased]
Issue #1)
When I tap in the "Type URL or Search" input box in the Dolphin HD browser window, my Samsung dutifully brings up my "Swipe" Input keyboard.
When I 'Swipe out' a word and lift my finger, I expect it to produce a [space], as it does in other input text box's, but it does not. This would be fine if I was 'swiping out' a URL. The 'input box prompt text' says that it's also a search input box.
Issue #2)
When I zoom in on a web 'normal' sized web page, I slide the web page to the left to continue reading a sentence, but instead of the web page sliding to the left, the Dolphin "Tool Bar" pane gets pulled out from the right side. Again, if I slide the web page to the right, the bookmarks pane get pulled out.
I know I can turn this feature off, but, I LOVE this feature having the tools & book marks easily accessible.
This usually does not happen if the web page is a mobile web page (no sliding needed) or the web page is NOT zoomed in.
Is it me, or does anyone else have these issues? I love the browser, but these two issues are just small annoyances.
HTC Desire :: Assigning Default Action To Contact In Favorites
Jun 3, 2010Would appreciate some help please.The question has been asked, but as far as I can see from searches has not been answered.I have contacts in my Favorites and they appear OK in the widget.How do I assign the default action that occurs when I press the icon.eg. dial the mobile number, or home phone, when both numbers are recorded in the contact?I know that I can press and hold the people entry for options, but I am looking for a one push option.I've learned so much from this forum in the last couple of days and my phone is looking fantastic thanks to everyone's help.

How do I transfer those sms messages to the memory card, without deleting them? Also how do I add contacts from my sim to the favorites section on the Home page?

Nov 9, 2010Last night they were all there, this morning nothing. At first I thought it was just slow to load them, it sometimes happens & you wait for a couple of seconds then they all appear. But not today. I updated my firmware yesterday twice - first to 1.32.405.3 and then to 1.32.405.6 - but they were definitely there after the updates. I've seen some other threads with the same issue on other phones but they're all at least a few months old. htcsense.com has, disaapointingly, not got all of my messages either. It seems to have most of them (including the last one I sent) but somehow is missing some in between.

Nov 14, 2010I own a htc desire which was updated to 2.2 a cpl months back.I sent a text a few mins ago. and then when i came back to my phone all my text history has disappeared. I have not selected the option to delete all old messages, So im a bit confused and annoyed about this.Especially since ive lost a lot of important messages.Has anyone had the same issue? Commands are about to boost up the reading speed of SDcard, type like

/system/xbin/echo "4096" > /sys/devices/virtual/bdi/default/read_ahead_kb;
Actually I modified these files with RecoveryFileManager at first but I found that was failed after I reboot the device, so I just type these commands into the init.d, but after that, I just find my status bar and notification bar was lost and disappeared, not only home screen but also all around the surface in the system.

Jun 30, 2010Just moved from an old WM device and separate mobile phone 'combination' to a single HTC Desire to 'do it all'. Pretty pleased so far but still searching (and finding) my way around things. One thing I was wondering about but didn't find an answer to is if you can't set anything so that your mobile operator name shows up in the home screen (just like with a phone). I'm traveling quite often for work and know from experience that one operator is often better in coverage or options than another one - so it would help if I can see the operator that is selected. I know that I can dig into the menus or status bar to see the operator but didn't find a way to show it 'always on' on the home screen.

I know you can set the thing to pop up all of the contact info or one number or an email or whatever, but it doesn't really work well for driving. Oct 19, 2010I have one GMail account synced to my EVO. When I open up 'People' all my contacts I added through GMail are there. Looks great.
However, when I go to the Favorites widget and click + to add a contact to the widget, I get a list of pretty much everyone I've ever sent an email to through my GMail account. I only want my real contacts to show up there, I don't need the dude listed there that I sold my blender to on Craigslist from 5 years ago.
