View 3 Replies View RelatedJust moved from an old WM device and separate mobile phone 'combination' to a single HTC Desire to 'do it all'. Pretty pleased so far but still searching (and finding) my way around things. One thing I was wondering about but didn't find an answer to is if you can't set anything so that your mobile operator name shows up in the home screen (just like with a phone). I'm traveling quite often for work and know from experience that one operator is often better in coverage or options than another one - so it would help if I can see the operator that is selected. I know that I can dig into the menus or status bar to see the operator but didn't find a way to show it 'always on' on the home screen.

And what is the best choice from these smartphones ?
I have to change my phone soon and want an android phone, after a bit of research it seems that the best ones are the samsung galaxy s and the HTC Desire. But there are contradicting reviews, some say one is better, others say the other is better.
Ive also heard about some glitches in the galaxy s about lag, 3g and gps, any idea if those are real and if so can they be fixed?
What do the real hardcore android uses choose? I'm getting a new phone and I can't decide between these two beasts!

P.S.-this phone must serve me good for at least 4 years as in my country there's no subsidy offered by service providers on smartphones with locking, plans etc.so i must get my money's worth.
How can i make my htc desire have the Samsung Galaxy S menu the puzzle think when u get a miss call if you no how to.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI can buy new phone, but i don't choose between Desire HD or Galaxy S.
what is better in 3D games? First desire have bad performance in 3D, Galaxy S is more better.
HTC Desire HD - Page 7 - xda-developers
Someone who got a hold of the Desire HD claims that Neocore scores 56 fps. The Galaxy S scores 55 in that test. Pretty much even.
This proves that the Galaxy S really does 45M triangles/sec rather than 90M that was wrongly reported a while back.
Linkpack gets 35.8 which just shades the old desire.
For reasosns I can't figure out, some of the high end GL games aren't available for the Desire, even though it's a high end phone.I'm thinking of Modern Combat Sandstorm, NOVA, Assasins Creed.I know some people with the Desire have these, and I'd LOVE to know how they got them, as I cant even get ones acquired from less savoury sources to work. The way I see it, is they're all Android games, so if I was to purchase one for the Galexy S, would it still work on the Desire? Or is there something in the coding that makes them phone specific?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI am due for an upgrade but I am not sure if I should get the HTC Desire or wait for the Samsung Galaxy S? So basically here are the pro's and con's: Galaxy pro's: 4 inch Super AMOLED screen is superior to the Desires Camera is superior, can record HD video More attractive (IMO), even though its close 1500mah battery (longer battery life than Desire's 1400mah) No flash player (how good is the Desires flash player anyway?)
View 49 Replies View RelatedAll of the marketing and news literature out there shows it with that giant "analog-flip-clock" at the top. I just don't like it. Is there a way to change that out? I figure that there is a way to do it, but just wanted to make sure. I was hoping to make the home screen a little more sleek, without the virtual "phone" button on it, and without what look like virtual + - buttons.
I'm asking because I assume that this functions the same as other HTC phones, and I've never owned one. I'm thinking that somebody who has owned a T-Mobile HTC or something could answer.
Is there any way of having more then 4x4 icons on the on-screen?
View 5 Replies View Relatedso my problem is that i can be in a phonecall, talking away, and then when i take the phone away from my ear to hang up or use the onscreen keypad for a automated system like voicemail the screen has changed from the "in call screen" to the home screen with the little green phone on the super tiny task bar to show me i'm still in a call. what the hell is up with this and is there any way to fix this? like a widget for the homescreen that i can press to take my DIRECTLY back to my call at least? this is soooo damn annoying. and sometimes when you take the phone away from your ear the screen just doesn't come back and you have to press the menu button and unlock it and THEN press the taskbar and the green phone to get bak to a call. really irritates the hell out of me.
