It's possible to always display the temp in the Android ribbon/window pane with the Weather Channel app. Long press on the City of your choice and then choose "Set as home." This will add the current temp at the top of your display. If you slide the ribbon open you will see a graphic with current conditions. Note: the display vanishes with Clear Notifications but returns the next time the app is run.

Maybe it's just my imagination but ever since I started using the Weather Channel app it seems like my battery doesn't last as long. Does anyone know if it uses more battery juice than Weather Bug? I was going to download Weather Bug again to compare the two but I can't seem to find the free version any more.

View 11 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to stop the Weather Chanel from broadcasting alerts. In San Francisco, wind and rain, constitute alerts. So this week there's a new alert every hour or two. I know it's raining and I know it's windy. It seems to be draining the battery.I've looked in the menu but I can't figure out how to stop the alerts from waking up my phone all the time. Any suggestions other than uninstalling?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOver the past couple days, it seems like my Weather Channel app hasn't been working properly. When I move to the home screen that has the widget, it will be displaying the wrong temperature and picture (i.e. it might be showing "partly sunny" when it's night time). It just shows the temperature for the last time I opened the app.So, I click on the widget to open the app, and it brings me to one of the screens and it just says "N/A", while a green circle rotates in the upper-right corner. After a few seconds, it finally updates and shows me the current temperature/forecast (whichever screen I was in last).I've never had these problems before, up until the past few days. Usually I would just move over to my other home screen, look at the temp, and move back. It would always be [somewhat] updated by itself (usually every 30-60 minutes it seemed). Now it doesn't update until I actually open the app.Any ideas or suggestions? Or is anyone else having this problem? I am using the Droid Eris. I restarted the phone yesterday, still doing the same thing.

The rest of the app/widget seems to work fine, but when I go to the radar map it never seems to load the radar, and nothing ever shows up. It does load the map but there is never any rain or anything. Yes, there is rain in the area when I am doing this (other radar apps work fine), and I've checked the settings to verify that I have it set to Radar. There is a spinner in the upper right corner beneath the clock that never stops spinning, so maybe it's just not loading?I know there are other radar apps and that Weatherbug is highly recommended, but I really like the Weather Channel radar and would really like to at least have the option to look at that one in addition to others. My husband's Incredible is having the same problem, as was the demo phone at Verizon store when we first went to look at it. I've been Googling for a couple hours now and can't seem to find anything so figured I'd check here.

I dont have the weather channel widgit or just the icon on any of my home pages and i dont have any location for it. Why is it still taking up so much battery?Also is there a way to change the update time with it?

When I tap the widget to view my home city in the app there is no weather data - just a big N/A at the top of the screen. It will not update again until I reboot the phone. My other cities are always still updating. Only my home city is fried.This happens about once a day- anything I can clear out in the phone that might help? Uninstall and reinstall the weather channel app?

Not only that, but if I search for it in the marketplace, it doesn't come up. Even when I go to androlib and scan the QR code, it the marketplace tells me that it can't find the app.

However, the rest of the phone was faulty and I had to have it replaced with a "refurbished" phone. Now the large weather animations have disappeared. Puny, smaller animations remain.Does this have something to do with Google's preferences. Can I get the more robust animations back?

It will play, then lock itself after a minute or so, keep playing, and when I unlock it, it shuts off. Also annoying is that it shuffles forward AND reverse.When I put the weather channel widget on my home screen It never updates itself even though I Juice defender that should allow it to refresh periodically.I'll add one more - the last few apps I downlaoded, i had to cancel 3-4 times, then retry before they are started to download.

I have a problem my emulator when i click on start button to run the AVD tehre is a command window that opens up and then there is nothing, the emulator window doesn't show up. I have extracted the sdk folder several time. deleted teh .android folder everytime . Can somebody tell me what is teh problem or what else can i do. Since its not running from sdk Setup.exe, in eclipse to i cant run it. Itsay launching the emulator but then there is nothing. Can someone tell me if android sdk as some log files where i can check the errors.

My Setup:
- Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant (Bell Canada)
- Android 2.1
- Dolphin HD Browser [Purchased]
Issue #1)
When I tap in the "Type URL or Search" input box in the Dolphin HD browser window, my Samsung dutifully brings up my "Swipe" Input keyboard.
When I 'Swipe out' a word and lift my finger, I expect it to produce a [space], as it does in other input text box's, but it does not. This would be fine if I was 'swiping out' a URL. The 'input box prompt text' says that it's also a search input box.
Issue #2)
When I zoom in on a web 'normal' sized web page, I slide the web page to the left to continue reading a sentence, but instead of the web page sliding to the left, the Dolphin "Tool Bar" pane gets pulled out from the right side. Again, if I slide the web page to the right, the bookmarks pane get pulled out.
I know I can turn this feature off, but, I LOVE this feature having the tools & book marks easily accessible.
This usually does not happen if the web page is a mobile web page (no sliding needed) or the web page is NOT zoomed in.
Is it me, or does anyone else have these issues? I love the browser, but these two issues are just small annoyances.
The Home sample in the android sdk doesn't implement the Add item, which bring up the "Add to home screen" popup window, and Notifivcations item in onCreateOptionsMenu and onOptionsItemSelected. How to do that like the default home?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got a HTC Hero (my 1st android device) and am trying to set everything up. I'm having a little trouble with the weather widget. It found my location just fine and is giving the weather correctly. The problem that I run into is when I am searching for other cities to add.
For example: I used to have an iphone and I would just type in the zip code or city, state. It would find any city or zipcode that I enter. With the hero it doesn't find anything except for major cities. Is there any way to get smaller cities to show up. I trying to get some city in Maryland and PA but it won't find anything and there are no big cities near it.
My favorites homescreen pane has disappeared? How do I get it back on?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI had deleted the flip clock b/c the weather refused to update. I went back and put it back on and the weather does not show up on the widget now. I have to open up a seperate weather widget on the screen. I've played around with the settings and haven't found a way to remerge the two. I called HTC directly and the rep I spoke with was dumbfounded. Had no idea what was wrong and told me that the only way I could fix this is to do a full system restore. I would prefer not to do that so if anyone has any ideas, I would greatly appriciate it. so it seems that the problem lies when I select "use current city" for the city I want. I choose one of the many cities listed that I don't live in, it works fine. How do I get it to recognize the city I live in?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter going out of town this weekend where my Incredible switched my "current location" to where I was, upon returning home the Incredible still shows that I'm in the other location. I've tried updating and such. I've even tried rearranging the areas (towns/cities). I've tried to delete the towns/cities. It still says I'm in the other city and nothing changes in the "first place/home screen" after rearranging/deleting.
