General :: Visible Banding In Default Video Player Output?

The default android video player and the other one provided by my vendor display clear banding when playing videos. The video itself is fine because when played with BSPlayer with HW experimental there is no banding visible.
The videos are played through the MediaPlayer interface of Android. I am still not sure if it is a dithering issue or a surface format issue. I tried different modifications to the player/machine without success.
1. Build.prop settings: persist.sys.use_dithering=1 (tried 2 as well) and video.accelerate.hw=1
2. Adding the dither flag with addFlags( WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_DITHER )
3. Making sure the surfaces are in RGBA_8888 with setFormat of surfaces
4. Forcing dithering in View.smali of framework.jar
How I could fix this issue with the default player. Wondering if it could be related to drivers or native code.

I watch a lot of anime from Nwanime or TV series from Couchtuner When I open these video webpages on Android I have to nagivate like on a desktop browser (tiny play button and maximise button and seek bar) On the iphone the video would open in the default video player.
How can I enable my Android device to open these videos with a default video player like mxplayer for example?
*note. Mxplayer is already my dafault player, so if I open an actual video file it plays in mxplayer. My problem is with web video

How do I change the default video player? Right now it is set to open and play videos in the default Android video player, but I want to use a better, more feature rich video player from the marketplace. I tried using apps that changed defaults, but they didn't have any options for videos, just which default app would open pics.

Any of you see a lot of banding on the camera app in medium to low lighting. The flash usually prevents banding from appearing in pictures but when recording there is huge amounts of banding. is this normal?

OK, so I successfully downloaded a video onto my Desire using Handbrake, placed it in the sd card but couldn't find a video player! I ended up finding the video using the Astro directories app, selecting it and it opened in the video player. But where is the default video player when I look at all my apps?

I use Handcent as my default MMS viewer and it rocks. I receive video clips of my kids from my wife's phone, and when I click on them, it gives me the choice to play it with the default video player, or Act1 Video player which is installed. When I hit Act 1 video player, I get an error and the video does not play. But I stupidly had it selected when I hit the check box marked "use as default" when I wanted to use the default EVO player. Now when I click a video embedded in a text message, it launches into Act 1 and crashes!! How can I select the EVO video player as the default? I have searched EVERYWHERE in Handcent and in the EVO settings. So frustrating.

send images to the TV or PCscreen. Howevevr I am thinking that sometimes could be very interesting the opposite case, I mean .... send video (or static images) from PC to the android phone screen.And I am not talking about sending only image data file.
For example:
USB connection to use the mobile as a extended or mirrored desktop for windows.

I am using the Alcatel OT-918d (stock rom, root access enabled) and while playing videos in the browser, I do not get an action prompt to choose from the available video players and browser plays the video using "default video player".
The so called "default video player" has been uninstalled though. Have cleared cache, clear defaults, clear data for the browser but still do not get a prompt to choose a video player while playing videos from the browser.
Also installed the "Default App Manager" to check for the default video player. However, it indicates no defaults to play any videos (either from file or streaming videos).
(If I play a stored video from phone or SD card, I do get the prompt to choose a video player. But do not get a prompt if playing any video in the browser.)

I have a problem with my Onda VX610W Deluxe using ICS beta1, when i use video player like MX Video Player or mVideo Player - everything runs fine but with additional subtitles that have wrong character set and sometimes wrong sync, subtitles from MX Video player or mVideo are fine but Onda`s Hardware decoder overrides screen and inputs additional subtitles it looks like this:

I recently purchased the so called Android TV. When i open a video on stock browser the video plays in the browser itself instead of showing an option and playing through stock video player. I have samsung tab where i get the option of playing web videos through video player. How do i get the same option on my android tv stick as well. MK808 Dual Core Android A9 Mini PC smart tv stick.

Ok we all know that our evo music playback on headphones is ridiculously low especially if you coming from the iPhone, but today I found Astro player beta which have some good equalizer that can boots your audio output to new level,even louder than the iPhone 4 output with the same headphones,so try it out and keep in mind its still in beta stage so it force close a lot but it doesn't affect music playback when it does that.

I dont mind the stock music player app but is there any other music player apps. the only problem i have with the stock one is that the volume is kinda low at the max. with headphones they are fine but i use my phone for music in my car and even with my speakers on max volume within my car the music is really low. and my speakers in my car are upgraded and VERY loud. is there another music player app that has lower output volumes ?

I listen to Pandora on the Eris and podcasts on the HTC provided media player. At full volume with earphones, the volume is still quite low, much lower than what my blackberry puts out, and not very good. Any way to up the volume besides the side volume rocker? Would a different media player application give me a better volume output or is it a problem built into the phone?

The audio/music player on my HTC Hero locks up immediately when it starts. As a result I cannot preview any sounds or play any music unless I stream with pandora or something. I have installed another music player app, which is fine for music, but the default player remains the one that locks up, so if I click an audio file to preview it, that app comes up and locks. Is there a fix for this? Can I somehow set another 3rd party player as default?

Am I right in thinking that the Music Player on the Desire is HTC's own?
Is there a default Android player?
I only ask as I think the current one that is default installed on the phone is poor, very poor. I use another app to play podcasts and even with the 'hide podcasts from default player' option ticked, they still show up in the music player.

I subscribed to JetFlix, in the market. (Jetflicks! TV - Android app on AppBrain) It is a $3 app with a $10/month subscription. I watch it on my phone in my car at the lake during my lunch break. I know that probably sounds sad, but it is AWESOME. I'm a manager in the dang corporate world, and I forget that I am at work by the time I'm done with a movie and come on back to the office. It's my dirty little secret. ANYWAY, there are some great shows available on this application, and I was thinking of replacing my Netflix subscription with it if I could just stream it to my TV at home. I haven't bought an HDMI cable yet, because I don't have a use for one just yet. But is anything "streamable" to the tv? I read that only pictures and videos that were shot with the camera stream though the HDMI cable. If that is the case, what is the point? I keep all that stuff on a hard drive anyway. So my question: can I hook up an HDMI cable and stream Jetflicks to my TV? The Jetflicks movies play on the native Internet browser. So I guess a more accurate question would be: Does the native internet browser display on the TV through the HDMI cable? If so, is there audio?

What do I have to do to get PlayerPro recognized as a music player app? When I say "listen to <artist>" using the Google voice search app, it gives me a "Complete action using" list that includes iHeartRadio, Pandora, Google Play Music, Slacker Radio, and YouTube, but no PlayerPro option. What's the trick? I'd really like to set it as the default music player.

Friend has an HTC 4G LTE from Sprint running ICS. She uses the built-in android music player and wants to change the picture that is used when it plays a file that does not have any album art associated with it. It's usually like something with a colored background and a music note.
Here's the problem. She had to have the phone replaced and got a refurb. Well whoever owned the phone before somehow changed the default picture to a photo of...well...his package. Maybe not his but it's someone's junk. It makes it kind of awkward whenever an unassociated song plays and the screen shows someone. She was able to find the original picture and delete it but it still shows up so it's got to be hidden somewhere. I've looked through the file structure and can't find it.
How to change this picture back to something more PG?

just wondering if anyone has tried getting video output with a 3.5mm to RCA cable. wonder if it may be less restrictive than the HDMI hookup... but I'm getting ahead of myself: I'm not even sure if it works at all. Can the Dx output anything other than pics/videos captured with the phone? My Dx is in the mail and was wondering if I should buy a cable because I want to use it to stream youtube or other video content from the phone to tv. If it can not be done now, is that a hardware issue or a software issue that could be changed later? Also so I can control the phone while it is connected to the tv I wanted to get a 15' cable. This is the only one I see but it does not say if it is type D or not. Does that matter? I dug up an old relic from a prehistoric civilization. A MiTraveler 7 inch netbook with android 2.2. Youtube videos give message "Video cannot be played". Although there's an App Market app on it, flash player, photon, or any video player won't show up. There appears no way to update this thing. Music won't play all the time either.

I have galaxy ace with cyanogen mod on it. The music player doesn't show id3 tags right. For example, i have changed "artist" tag of one of breaking benjamin's song to "Rock,Single", but the music player is still showing previous tag.
I have changed the tag to something different many times, but it still shows the first tag which is "breaking benjamin".
