How do I change the default video player? Right now it is set to open and play videos in the default Android video player, but I want to use a better, more feature rich video player from the marketplace. I tried using apps that changed defaults, but they didn't have any options for videos, just which default app would open pics.

I watch a lot of anime from Nwanime or TV series from Couchtuner When I open these video webpages on Android I have to nagivate like on a desktop browser (tiny play button and maximise button and seek bar) On the iphone the video would open in the default video player.
How can I enable my Android device to open these videos with a default video player like mxplayer for example?
*note. Mxplayer is already my dafault player, so if I open an actual video file it plays in mxplayer. My problem is with web video
The default android video player and the other one provided by my vendor display clear banding when playing videos. The video itself is fine because when played with BSPlayer with HW experimental there is no banding visible.
The videos are played through the MediaPlayer interface of Android. I am still not sure if it is a dithering issue or a surface format issue. I tried different modifications to the player/machine without success.
1. Build.prop settings: persist.sys.use_dithering=1 (tried 2 as well) and video.accelerate.hw=1
2. Adding the dither flag with addFlags( WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_DITHER )
3. Making sure the surfaces are in RGBA_8888 with setFormat of surfaces
4. Forcing dithering in View.smali of framework.jar
How I could fix this issue with the default player. Wondering if it could be related to drivers or native code.

I have Xolo a500s. I flashed a custom ROM on it. The custom rom is based on 4.2.2 but it has all apps of 4.4 like camera, launcher, calender, gallery etc. The problem I am having is that the camera app doesn't have any option to change video recording resolution. It always record video in 640x480 resolution. but in my stock rom It used to record video in 720p resolution.
I installed camera mx app from playstore and this app gives me 720p recording option. But I don't like this app. I want my default camera app to record 720p. can I edit camera.apk file to change the video recording resolution? or I will have to change some files of my custom ROM to change the resolution?
OK, so I successfully downloaded a video onto my Desire using Handbrake, placed it in the sd card but couldn't find a video player! I ended up finding the video using the Astro directories app, selecting it and it opened in the video player. But where is the default video player when I look at all my apps?

I receive video clips of my kids from my wife's phone, and when I click on them, it gives me the choice to play it with the default video player, or Act1 Video player which is installed. When I hit Act 1 video player, I get an error and the video does not play. But I stupidly had it selected when I hit the check box marked "use as default" when I wanted to use the default EVO player. Now when I click a video embedded in a text message, it launches into Act 1 and crashes!! How can I select the EVO video player as the default? I have searched EVERYWHERE in Handcent and in the EVO settings. So frustrating.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI never watch YouTube videos in anything other than high quality. But the only way I can see to change the quality is via the menu on a per-video basis. It defaults to the lesser quality, which is REALLY crappy!
Is there some way to change the default to play videos in the best quality?
And also, what's to gain by playing them in the lesser quality? Bandwidth? Battery conservation? Load time? For a phone with such a magnificant display size & resolution, I can't imagine why anyone would want to view videos in anything but the best quality possible.

As a result I cannot preview any sounds or play any music unless I stream with pandora or something. I have installed another music player app, which is fine for music, but the default player remains the one that locks up, so if I click an audio file to preview it, that app comes up and locks. Is there a fix for this? Can I somehow set another 3rd party player as default?

I only ask as I think the current one that is default installed on the phone is poor, very poor. I use another app to play podcasts and even with the 'hide podcasts from default player' option ticked, they still show up in the music player.
What do I have to do to get PlayerPro recognized as a music player app? When I say "listen to <artist>" using the Google voice search app, it gives me a "Complete action using" list that includes iHeartRadio, Pandora, Google Play Music, Slacker Radio, and YouTube, but no PlayerPro option. What's the trick? I'd really like to set it as the default music player.

Friend has an HTC 4G LTE from Sprint running ICS. She uses the built-in android music player and wants to change the picture that is used when it plays a file that does not have any album art associated with it. It's usually like something with a colored background and a music note.
Here's the problem. She had to have the phone replaced and got a refurb. Well whoever owned the phone before somehow changed the default picture to a photo of...well...his package. Maybe not his but it's someone's junk. It makes it kind of awkward whenever an unassociated song plays and the screen shows someone. She was able to find the original picture and delete it but it still shows up so it's got to be hidden somewhere. I've looked through the file structure and can't find it.
How to change this picture back to something more PG?

Although there's an App Market app on it, flash player, photon, or any video player won't show up. There appears no way to update this thing. Music won't play all the time either.

I have an Acer passive 3D monitor that hasn't got an option to watch SBS videos in 3D. The only format it supports is interlaced.
I just got myself an Android mini-pc. The Uhost 2. I was hoping I could use the 2160p Player to view SBS videos in interlaced 3D. The 2160p Player installs fine on the device and the Gallery works. But when I select a video to play, it crashes.
I am not sure if its a buggy app or if it only works on the AllWinner A10 processor. Is it possible to get it working on other devices.

I find it has a fantastic LAN streaming capability and great interface. However, it auto selects the thumbnails.
This isn't necessarily a problem for me bc I use it set to 'file list'.
However, my 5 yr old can't read yet, so I set it to Thumbnails.
Unfortunately, the auto gen thumbnail feature selects some random frame 99% of the time, and the image will have no bearing on the movie whatsoever.
Is there another video player that allows you to select your own thumbnail from a screenshot or picture file?
I have 3 video apps on my note 2. When I go to open a video in my camera I always get to pick which app I want and whether to use it "just this once" or "always". Accidentally clicked "always" and now all videos from camera open with the video trim app. How do I undo the "always" so I can use the other player apps
