OK, so I successfully downloaded a video onto my Desire using Handbrake, placed it in the sd card but couldn't find a video player! I ended up finding the video using the Astro directories app, selecting it and it opened in the video player. But where is the default video player when I look at all my apps?

I watch a lot of anime from Nwanime or TV series from Couchtuner When I open these video webpages on Android I have to nagivate like on a desktop browser (tiny play button and maximise button and seek bar) On the iphone the video would open in the default video player.
How can I enable my Android device to open these videos with a default video player like mxplayer for example?
*note. Mxplayer is already my dafault player, so if I open an actual video file it plays in mxplayer. My problem is with web video
Am I right in thinking that the Music Player on the Desire is HTC's own?

I only ask as I think the current one that is default installed on the phone is poor, very poor. I use another app to play podcasts and even with the 'hide podcasts from default player' option ticked, they still show up in the music player.
I use Handcent as my default MMS viewer and it rocks. I receive video clips of my kids from my wife's phone, and when I click on them, it gives me the choice to play it with the default video player, or Act1 Video player which is installed. When I hit Act 1 video player, I get an error and the video does not play. But I stupidly had it selected when I hit the check box marked "use as default" when I wanted to use the default EVO player. Now when I click a video embedded in a text message, it launches into Act 1 and crashes!! How can I select the EVO video player as the default? I have searched EVERYWHERE in Handcent and in the EVO settings. So frustrating.

View 11 Replies View RelatedThe default android video player and the other one provided by my vendor display clear banding when playing videos. The video itself is fine because when played with BSPlayer with HW experimental there is no banding visible.
The videos are played through the MediaPlayer interface of Android. I am still not sure if it is a dithering issue or a surface format issue. I tried different modifications to the player/machine without success.
1. Build.prop settings: persist.sys.use_dithering=1 (tried 2 as well) and video.accelerate.hw=1
2. Adding the dither flag with addFlags( WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_DITHER )
3. Making sure the surfaces are in RGBA_8888 with setFormat of surfaces
4. Forcing dithering in View.smali of framework.jar
How I could fix this issue with the default player. Wondering if it could be related to drivers or native code.

I recently downloaded the meridian movie app but once whilst wanting to watch a program i selected the default movie player and highlighted the 'tick to use as default' so now whenever i select a file to watch it uses the default player instead of allowing me to select meridian is there any way to change this?

As a result I cannot preview any sounds or play any music unless I stream with pandora or something. I have installed another music player app, which is fine for music, but the default player remains the one that locks up, so if I click an audio file to preview it, that app comes up and locks. Is there a fix for this? Can I somehow set another 3rd party player as default?

The so called "default video player" has been uninstalled though. Have cleared cache, clear defaults, clear data for the browser but still do not get a prompt to choose a video player while playing videos from the browser.
Also installed the "Default App Manager" to check for the default video player. However, it indicates no defaults to play any videos (either from file or streaming videos).
(If I play a stored video from phone or SD card, I do get the prompt to choose a video player. But do not get a prompt if playing any video in the browser.)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am doing a video based course, and what is infuriating about playing video on my Android is that you have to watch each segment (up to 40 minutes) in one go, as the next time you play the clip it will restart and fast forward does not work (it forwards for less than a second and then jerks back). What would be really handy would be if I could put a bookmark every time I have to stop the video file (such as when I have to get off my train), and return to the same place the next time I open it. Is there any app that can do this? I will pay for one that works.

Using Dialer One, or Phone. And it gives me the option to "Use by default for this action".So, lets say I want to use Dialer One by default, but then I change my mind. One feature that's bugging me on the Desire, the default application for Youtube videos seems to be the HTC Flash Player, but I don't want to use this. I would prefer it if it opened with the Youtube player so I can get high quality video when viewing Youtube clips on WIFI - the HTC Flash Player has no settings or option for video quality improvement.
On my G1, every time I opened a link for Youtube (from e.g. the browser or Seesmic), it opened up the Youtube application as the default viewer.
How do you get the Incredible to open up the youtube player when you tapping on a youtube vid on a webpage? Right now mine opens up the HTC flash player to play it.. I would rather have it open the youtube player for the full screen high quality experience like my moto droid did.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI'm afraid to root my phone and I understand that's the only way to get rid of the default music app on my captivate. If I can't get rid of it, is there a way to make it a lame duck and set another player as my default player.
Here's why:
I recently installed Playerpro which has all the features I need in a music player but when I press the headset buttons (which I need for my daily walks) it automatically starts my default music player, which I never use. Granted this may be in an issue with the app as Mixzing and others don't have this issue but is there anyway to set defaults on my droid.
Is it just me or the default music player is VERY SLOW to react. I mean, the phone isn't slow in any other respect, not even browsing the web. But the music player is very slow to react relatively. I have a 8GB SD card almost full of mp3 files but I don't think the mp3 player should feel sluggish after it had indexed all the tracks. Has anyone else noticed this? So far the mp3 player has been my only disappointment (not just because of this) with the Wildfire and I've been using it a couple of weeks.
