Am I right in thinking that the Music Player on the Desire is HTC's own?
Is there a default Android player?
I only ask as I think the current one that is default installed on the phone is poor, very poor. I use another app to play podcasts and even with the 'hide podcasts from default player' option ticked, they still show up in the music player.

The audio/music player on my HTC Hero locks up immediately when it starts. As a result I cannot preview any sounds or play any music unless I stream with pandora or something. I have installed another music player app, which is fine for music, but the default player remains the one that locks up, so if I click an audio file to preview it, that app comes up and locks. Is there a fix for this? Can I somehow set another 3rd party player as default?

I haven't found anything in the API but I want the same behavior that is available in any headset so there must be some API right?

What do I have to do to get PlayerPro recognized as a music player app? When I say "listen to <artist>" using the Google voice search app, it gives me a "Complete action using" list that includes iHeartRadio, Pandora, Google Play Music, Slacker Radio, and YouTube, but no PlayerPro option. What's the trick? I'd really like to set it as the default music player.

The Nova is a beta app but looks to have promise. It contains several features that I look for and even includes the ever-elusive equalizer!
I use a combination of my Eris' stock player, Cubed (3) and Zimly to accomplish my desire to create playlists, queue songs and have an easy to use interface.
The stock player creates playlists the easiest of any app I've used that can do it, while I love the way that Cubed handles music selection and queuing of songs. Zimly has the easiest and slickest interface of any app I've tried. In fairness to Zimly, I recently found a way to create playlists and queue songs in the app. These features aren't as easy to find or identify in Zimly as within the stock music player or Cubed, but they exist.
Well, I am trying the Nova from Astro and it looks VERY promising! This app allows playlist creation, provides queuing of songs and...wait for it...Wait for it...IT HAS AN EQUALIZER!
This product is still in beta so I'm taking it through the paces, including the equalizer. I have an aux input in my car, I use wireless FM xmitter in my wife's car and I wear headphones when exercising, so I should be able to reasonably assess how useful the equalizer is.
One nice feature of the beta app is that it has a option to send feedback to the developers right from the app. This is nice for those of us who don't have a problem with apps transmitting user data.
I will update this thread as I use Nova more. Also, I'm interested in other opinions from new users.
I'm afraid to root my phone and I understand that's the only way to get rid of the default music app on my captivate. If I can't get rid of it, is there a way to make it a lame duck and set another player as my default player.
Here's why:
I recently installed Playerpro which has all the features I need in a music player but when I press the headset buttons (which I need for my daily walks) it automatically starts my default music player, which I never use. Granted this may be in an issue with the app as Mixzing and others don't have this issue but is there anyway to set defaults on my droid.
Is it just me or the default music player is VERY SLOW to react. I mean, the phone isn't slow in any other respect, not even browsing the web. But the music player is very slow to react relatively. I have a 8GB SD card almost full of mp3 files but I don't think the mp3 player should feel sluggish after it had indexed all the tracks. Has anyone else noticed this? So far the mp3 player has been my only disappointment (not just because of this) with the Wildfire and I've been using it a couple of weeks.

View 21 Replies View RelatedI keep all of my music and podcasts (which i copy/paste manually from my computer) on the internal storage.The last 2 weeks when I copy/pasted my new podcasts over for my regular 5 hour weekend drive, the podcasts dont show up anywhere in the default media player. I have to use Astro to find the file and select it from there. What am I doing wrong/how do I fix this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedBasically when connecting my phone to my car's aux in socket, the music player starts up & plays over whatever else is happening. As an example, if I want to listen to a podcast on Beyondpod, the moment it starts playing, the music player kicks in & plays whatever track was last being played. I use Taskiller to close it down but it's starts up again after a few mins or even seconds. It also occasionally dials the last number I called, just to really wind me up. It also occasionally does this when watching a video with headphones in.

She uses the built-in android music player and wants to change the picture that is used when it plays a file that does not have any album art associated with it. It's usually like something with a colored background and a music note.
Here's the problem. She had to have the phone replaced and got a refurb. Well whoever owned the phone before somehow changed the default picture to a photo of...well...his package. Maybe not his but it's someone's junk. It makes it kind of awkward whenever an unassociated song plays and the screen shows someone. She was able to find the original picture and delete it but it still shows up so it's got to be hidden somewhere. I've looked through the file structure and can't find it.
How to change this picture back to something more PG?
I have the Motorola Droid and am using the stock music player. I was looking for alittle help finding something better to use...am sure alot of you are using something much better.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am looking at PowerAmp and besides the awesome EQ, what else makes you think it is better than stock? I like the stock big buttons and text especially in the car, and like the stock notification bar controls. Just looking for a good reason to upgrade if there is one. If the stock EQ was easier to get to quickly maybe I wouldn't even consider anything else. What do you think?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have galaxy ace with cyanogen mod on it. The music player doesn't show id3 tags right. For example, i have changed "artist" tag of one of breaking benjamin's song to "Rock,Single", but the music player is still showing previous tag.
I have changed the tag to something different many times, but it still shows the first tag which is "breaking benjamin".
The supplied on the desire is a bit basic at best, Is there anything better out there?

I ended up finding the video using the Astro directories app, selecting it and it opened in the video player. But where is the default video player when I look at all my apps?

View 13 Replies View RelatedUsing the HTC music player and it is acting strangely. When I have it in my pocket (with the screen locked) it seems to keep skipping about between tracks. I can recreate this effect by tilting it backwards and forwards and it skips a track. I at first thought it would be helped by turning off the accelerometer, but there seems no obvious way of doing that. What I have since noticed is that sometimes the player detects my headphones as a headset (a headset icon appears in the top bar) and then I get these problems. When it actually detects them as headphones, which gives a slightly different icon, it seems to actually work perfectly. It seems to be just luck as to which it recognises as, and it makes it useless as a music player.
View 17 Replies View RelatedI have had my desire for 4 weeks now cannot not fault it except I have an irritating problem with mp3 playback.I have 16Gb memory card filled with about 14Gb of music,I just like to let the music shuffle which brings me to the problem I have is every time I set it to play music and either put the desire in my pocket or lay it next to me I can listen to sometimes 4 or 5 tracks and the music all of a sudden stops othertimes it could be 15 or 16 songs,it doesn't pause just completely stops.I have tried different music players,i.e the stock player tunewiki and 2 or 3 others and its the same.Its really frustrating while I'm on the train having to keep getting the phone out to reset the music player.

I have over 1,000 mp3 files on my sd card but they are not showing up in any of my music players..they show up in astro and i can play them through there, but id like the ease of just having them in my playlists.
I recently upgraded from a G1 to a Desire.
One feature that's bugging me on the Desire, the default application for Youtube videos seems to be the HTC Flash Player, but I don't want to use this. I would prefer it if it opened with the Youtube player so I can get high quality video when viewing Youtube clips on WIFI - the HTC Flash Player has no settings or option for video quality improvement.
On my G1, every time I opened a link for Youtube (from e.g. the browser or Seesmic), it opened up the Youtube application as the default viewer.
