Very new to smartphones, excuse my errors: Have Samsung Ring from Virgin for 2 wks, still trying to figure it out. I get apps but they soon disappear, not sure where they came from or where they go?

Buyed a samsung galaxy s a couple days ago
and had no peoblems woth it except today
noticed then when somebody calls me rhe
phone rings quietly at first and then rongs
normal, the sound gradualy increases from small
volume to gighter , how can i .make it ring loudly
from the start ?
I have a widget on my home screen with several ImageButtons which have default background images. Through the configuration activity, I can change the image on any of the ImageButtons. The problem is that when the screen is rotated, the image on the ImageButton disapears and it changes back to the default image.
I don't know why this happens or how to fix it
If I really like the ICS ring lock screen, how could I go about putting it on a gingerbread rom?
curently using oa 2.3
How do you disable the ICS screen lock ring but leave the pin device lock on?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to port cwm to the galaxy ring virgin mobile and i have a complete system dumb through adb but i need to find the recovery partition of my phone ive found system and cache and all the others but there is 4 un named partitions that have 8 mb each i dont want to pick and choose and mess it up. it seems like im the only one trying to do devolopement for this device. i have a feeling this device can handle cm10.1 or atleast 10 it has the 3.4 kernel 4.1.2 jellybean touchwiz 1.4 ghz single core processor.

my main reason for this is to get back app2sd and yes i know rooting will grant me a simular function.
What custom rom to use would be most welcome since i dont know wich support this phone.
secondly i would love information on what "custom rom" samsung provided via the use of volume down+power key at startup and if using it voids my warranty.
I know that the my external storage is formatted correctly and that some of the apps are able to be moved to the card. But the move to SD card option is not visible.

I use profile and find it a little too in depth. I want something simple. I also think there may be a gremlin or two as I have found my settings changed without my doing anything.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy desire will not always ring the sms ring notifier when i recieve texts, it annoyed me so much that i decided to do a warranty swap, and the new one does the same thing!is this a standard android thing? it seems to me that if i have recieved or sent a text to somebody within 30 minutes, it will not ring, as though it expects me to be hovering over my phone staring at it for a reply, is this a normal issue? and is there a way to fix it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIve got a Samsung exhibit 2 4g and I want to root it. Except when I connect usb, it always says cannot install driver. I've gone to device manager and it has two listings saying "SAMSUNG Android USB Composite Device" with exclamation marks next to it. Ive factory reset the phone and I have usb debugging on to. It also wont list for adb devices. Ive burnt about 6 hours for this and nothing.

It gives me an USB device not recognized on my windows 8 computer. I have spent all morning searching and reinstalling drivers and trying my old pc and new cables and i found out that my old windows 7 computer with 4GB of ram and an overloaded hard drive will detect my device the problem there is it not my main computer and i don't want to have to connect all the vga cables boot it up connect mouse and ets to use this computer just to be able to copy files, and do other things from my computer to my phone I don't know why my main computer dell inspiron windows 8 will not work when it was a couple of days ago when i had a problem with connectivity and had to flash back to stock but now it wont connect.

a bunch of different drivers found on the forums

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe Eris has been a good phone for me except the mentioned issues. The fix the worked for me was to remove the appollo software task manager. It kept closing something I xouldnt see and caused me issue. I went from 5 resets a day to 5 days and no reset. I now use task manager 1.11.9 with 0 issues.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have had a problem with no matter what android phone I have. This has been doing it for quite some time but I dealt with it but last night I lost 12 GB of music so here it is:
Whenever I move music in these situations, it will erase all ID3 Tag information (Artist, Album, etc) and all it has is the file name. I had 2000 songs with artist names and all, but when moved it all became unknown artist. Here are the situations:
Galaxy S3: Moving Music from one folder to another (Like from a Download folder to my music folder on external SD). Or from moving music from internal to external or vice versa.
Optimus G: Moving music from one folder to another on the internal storage (Again, like from a download to music folder).
Evo 4G: Just moving from folder to folder.
All this is done with ES. File explorer. I tried other but they do it too. It can not be device specific because it happens on almost any android. All songs are in MP4/MP3 format and maybe some .wma.
I have searched before posting this thread so please forgive me if I missed it somewhere. I have a stock Moment running cl14. I have made ring tones & placed them in the appropriate folders. Sometimes when I receive a phone call, the only way I know it is because my bluetooth will beep in my ear. The phone lights up & caller id kicks in but I get no sound & no vibrate. I can call the phone & actually see the symbol for "silent mode" pop up & disappear when the phone rings. I then have to go to the Sound & Display tab & re-choose the ring tone I already have selected from the list to get audible ring tones. Can anyone shed light into this?
Also sometimes my personalized ring tones for contacts will not play, or more like play the 1st time they call & play the default ring tone the 2nd time they call.
I am hoping this is just a setting somewhere I am missing. While I am on the Internet my Moment will not let me know if someone is calling. It sends the caller directly to voicemail without even ringing on their end. I have only had the phone for 4 days after switching from a Blackberry Curve. I went back and forth trying to decide if I wanted the Moment or the Tour. I chose the Moment but if the phone will not ring while I am surfing the Internet...it really is not going to work out.

I have found a few on the Market but so far none are filling the bill as to what I need. Basically I have a little hearing loss so prefer basic tone type ring tones rather than a tune or clip from some song or movie. Funny but I kinda like the ring tone of the old standard phone ringer. Can someone suggest something on the Market or some other alternative? I suppose it's as easy as downloading anything using my computer and sending it to my cell phone and using it from there.

I have music on my music player app but I can't find where I add it on the contacts. Is there a way to delete some of the programs that came with the phone? Like the ones I know I will never use. I know from my home screen I can drag them to the trash but that doesn't delete them from the applications screens.

Sometimes, when I receive calls, the phone will ring 2 or three times before going to voicemail - it is almost like I am rejecting the calls, which I know I'm not, as it tends to happen when I'm not even touching the phone.

I bought my phone week ago and problems with GPS started immediately: I installed MOTONAV (iGO for Motorola) and tried to test it and it worked perfectly... for about 10 minutes and than message "GPS signal lost"... without come back. Reset of GPS or phone didn't solved the problem... I tried GPS signal later (after 15-30 minutes) with GPS Test app and there it was - working just like that: catches signal after 10 seconds!
After that I thought application was a problem: uninstalled it, downloaded Navigon - same thing: signal lost after 5-15 minutes of using navapp.
Hard reset of phone, navigon again - same issue.
Just got the 2.1 update for my Moment. Have a problem. I leave my phone on at night on the charger. I get up way earlier then my wife. Now after the update - my text notification ringer goes off when I plug in and unplug the charger. I tried turning off the "Notification Ringtone" - and that worked to kill the charger plug/unplug sound - but it also turned off the ring when I get an incoming text. That just will not work - turning that on and off all the time. Is there a way to just disable the sound when the charger is plugged/unplugged?
View 16 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded and installed Ring droid. I have converted one or two songs to ring tones. Ring droid will allow you to assign that ring tone to a contact at the time you make the ring tone. What I can't figure out is how do you change ring tones for any other individuals? I thought you would go into contacts and there would be an option there, but not. So, I went back to Ring droid and the only way I can find to add a custom ring tone there is to convert the same song again. So now I have three copies of the same ring tone. There has got to be a better way. I know I am knew to the Captivate, but this seems like something that would be a no briner (which I have been accused of being).

I was able to with my bb bold and it was easy.. But Im having trouble trying to figure it out. just when I think I got it my songs are listed in settings -sounds & display- under notification ring tone and not under my voice call ring tone in sounds & display settings. if anyone can direct me on the "how to process" I'd really appreciate it.

Anyone know where I can find, say, a Samsung or Sanyo ringer pack? Or a bunch of standard cell phone ringers? I've searched the android market and several apps therein and can't find what i'm looking for.

I do not want people hearing who the call is from.I am at a loss as to how to shut this feature down.
