Feb 4, 2010Longtime lurker first time poster, so I just got swype over the weekend and I love it, but gmote touch-pad does not. Cant use the keyboard functionality to write anything into search bars, forms, etc. so I have to switch back to the regular keyboard just for that app
Not a big deal if there was an easy way to switch back to normal, but for the life of me I cant figure out how. I know to change INTO swipe you long press the "123" key and it brings up input method options, once im in swype how can I quickly get back to that options menu?

Aug 23, 2010Ever since I updated to Froyo I've had trouble dismissing the soft keyboard by swiping down - frequently getting two additional characters typed (the one where the swipe started and the one where my finger left the screen) instead of dismissing the keyboard.
I know I can hit the back button to dismiss the keyboard, but is anyone else having this problem, and is there a fix?

Sep 30, 2010I rooted my phone back before 2.2 came out. I've played with CWM, made Nandroid and Titanium backups, removed bloat and installed most of the root only apps. What I haven't done yet is flash a ROM. This is mainly because it seems that while there are a crap ton of ROMs being developed out there all of them seem to either not be fully stable or are missing some sort of key feature (camera, videocam, bluetooth, LED, internal storage, etc).
Are there any ROMs that you folks are currently using that's stable and has all the features of the phone working? If not, what's the closest one that you've found?

Jun 25, 2012When I had a crackberry and had it paired with my Bluetooth on my car I could hit a button on the module in my car and it would launch voice dialing on the berry. With an android phone it doesn't. I am wondering if there was a way or an app that could monitor for the button or give me the same Bluetooth config of the berry so I could gain that back.
I love hands free dialing and I've tried apps like vlingo but they seem too unusuable still.

Nov 20, 2012When I set my new phone up, it automatically asked what functions I wanted associated with certain swipes.. ie... swipe from right to left to delete, left to right to mark unread, etc... well, I accidentally set it backwards to what I'm used to and can't figure out how to change it back! I've been accidentally deleting things I don't want to delete... how can I change what the swipes do?

Oct 30, 2013I've attempted to root my girlfriends phone for her so I can unlock it, but the phone just wont root. I've tried superoneclick and a ton of other 1 click roots along with the manual rooting at first (where you go into recovery mode and apply the update from the sd card).
I can see the superuser app, however I cannot grant superuser access to any apps. The version is v2.3.6 and if it makes a difference, it's an irish phone locked to use meteor (a network).
I've also downloaded rootchecker from the play store and it says that I do not have "proper root access to the phone" or something similar. Proper was the predominant word though.Whenever I use superoneclick, the application always freezes as well.
I can do the unlocking half of it myself, I just need root access..Also, when in recovery mode, this comes up in yellow at the bottom.

Jul 29, 2013I did a full wipe of my phone to see If I ccan get rid of cyanogen mod. Now I have no sdcard folder. and I'm stuck in the TWRP menu. Is their anyway of getting my phone back? I have AT&T. I have no android software nothing. but in filemanager It finds a couple folder mostly all empty. Did I void my warranty? Will I never get my phone back?

Feb 5, 2012Is there a way to install APK's from any of the bootloader menus? I can install through ADB if the device is fully booted & I have enabled USB Debugging. Is that the only way?
If that IS the only way, is there a way to reset the device's "first boot" attribute back to true after the first boot, so that the manufacturer's setup software runs on the next boot?
General :: Can't Seem To Fully Reflash SG Note 2 With Stock ROM
Feb 2, 2013I recently purchased a Bell Canada version of the SG Note 2 (i317), I am on Telus so I attempted to Unlock the phone. I looked online and found people were having success unlocking these phones for free using the *#197327640# method, (whereby you go into the service mode, turn off the PERSHO_256 and then INITIALLIZ).
I tried this method and the phone then seemed to work with my telus sim, but only for voice, not data. When I put in a Bell SIM from a friend, both voice and data worked fine - which tells me its not a hardware (radio) issue. I also tried using another friends Telus SIM and had the same results as mine - which tells me it's not a SIM error. Also, all the settings in the mobile network area appeared to be correctly set up.
So, my next step was to try and reflash the phone to the stock Bell ROM and then just buy an Unlock code. I downloaded the stock ROM (2 different ones actually) and used Odin 3.07 to reload the ROM. I've tried it several times now, with both Bell ROMs and each time it says it's been successful, but the phone remains in the same, partially unlocked state.
It seems as though by using the PERSHO_256 method I have permanently, PARTIALLY unlocked the phone. I can't seem to re-lock it by installing the stock Bell ROM, and since it's unlocked, I can't get the foreign SIM error to come up to enable me to put in my purchased unlock code.

I have read seemingly cotradictory posts, some say there is no problem some give work arounds involving Roms. A newer post seems to indicate Google has done something that only alows Chinese android devices to use Market after rooting. Which is true? Do all devices even act the same?
I have an Archos that needed a fix to get it at all but I had not heard that Market didn't work after root until a friend mentioned it a couple of days ago. Was this something Google did with intent?

May 18, 2014my wife recently upgraded from Droid RAZR Maxx to a Galaxy S5. one of the things she misses is the old contact manager on the RAZR - because it has a feature that allows her to look at contact details and then swipe left or right to the previous or next contact.
I looked through a few of the more popular contact managers out there and couldn't find one that had this feature.

Jul 16, 2013I turned on my samsung galaxy s3 and I swiped to go to my lock screen and then my phone turned off. I couldnt turn it back on but like the next 5 sec. it automatically turned on. now, I cant turn it off or swipe to unlock. my screen isn't broken because I can easily go to my notification screen and tap anything on there and it will still work. the clock is frozen but it will still show when it is charging or not. (I got this phone only a few months ago)
