Adding "floating window" to the long press context window of an app icon and/or a system setting for double clicking the app icon to open in a floating window. I don't Dev. This is a freebie. Would be a cool PA/CM/AOKP option.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having a problem with floating windows. My activity has an AutoCompleteTextView text in a floating window positioned at the top of the display. If enough text is entered to make the drop down appear it will be initially clipped to the bottom edge of the window. If you click on the drop down it appears unclipped.

I would love to have an icon that looks something like the icons for SmartTask Bar and ButtonSavior. But I just want it to be a shortcut so that I can launch any other app the same way.

So I'm looking for an app, much in line with overskreen, or air terminal in it's execution, but all it needs to do is let me take notes in it, a tabbed interface would be great, and ability to save would also be great, but honestly I don't even need that. Just need a simple floating window that allows me to type some quick notes in it. Or paste some text in there so I can view it from another app.
I could probably use overskreen for this, but it just seems like overkill to have a floating browser as a text pad. I didn't find any on the Store, but I did find an app called "Floating Widgets" ( or something very similar to that name ) which basically allows you to take most widgets and make them 'stay on top' ( ie. float ). This would work great I'm thinking with a note widget for memos. The only problem is all the memo widgets I saw and tried( free ones anyways ) didn't seem to allow direct typing in the widget, they opened some kind of editor and then saved to the widget when you exited. This defeats the reason of having a floating memo widget lol.
An existing widget that does this, floats, etc... B.) A normal widget that allows direct typing in the widget itself instead of opening some kind of proxy app? or C.) Some other solution other than using a browser?
Wondering if there is an app that manages charge points, stopping a battery from charging at 50% even while plugged in. Lifespan more than doubles if device battery is kept at 40%. I have a xoom FE.
Also, is it just me, or is the search feature not working? Trying it and it alternates between simply closing as soon as I touch the keyboard, and/or kicking the cursor up to the Google bar.
Is there a way to extend its lenght? No matter how long a ringtone is, the device keeps playing it from beginning as long as it arrives at i.e. 15 seconds (cannot remember the exact time elapsed).

Today with my left hand (not primary for me) I'm tried to drop down notification bar and ... again Icons and Widgets start floating, constantly moving and whole my 5 home screens was compiled in one and I can scroll this summary screen.
How to do that again.Device is LT18i Android 4.0.4, stock .587 kernel, installed just this XPERIA Ultimate HD MOD[ver:1.3][ ICS.587/.431] but first time with floating widgets effects was w/o this mod.

What is the basic difference between the PhoneWindow and MidWindow policies? I found that the emulator version takes the implementations of the PhoneWindow.When the MidWindow implementations will be used? Also, I found that PhoneWindow handles the call settings implementation and the same is not there in MidWindow? I am more than a little cofused regarding the functionality of Google store/Market after root of an android device. I have read seemingly cotradictory posts, some say there is no problem some give work arounds involving Roms. A newer post seems to indicate Google has done something that only alows Chinese android devices to use Market after rooting. Which is true? Do all devices even act the same?
I have an Archos that needed a fix to get it at all but I had not heard that Market didn't work after root until a friend mentioned it a couple of days ago. Was this something Google did with intent?

I have a rooted LG Optimus L1 ii, running the stock 4.1 ROM that came with it, from which I uninstalled the stock messaging app after installing Hangouts. As you might have guessed I was unaware that the stock messaging app contains the basic messaging capabilities and all other apps rely on this, so now I'm trying to somehow regain the ability to send and receive SMS.
I have tried installing Handcent, GoSMS, and an app called "Android 4.1 JB Messaging SMS", which claims to be the stock messaging app for JellyBean, all of it to no avail.
Therefore my question is, on a very fundamental level, what are the parts of the Android OS that are required for SMS and that I evidently destroyed? Can I get "generic" stock versions of the necessary apks or do they have to be specific to my phone model?
Any way that you can make the back button in the browser retain the same function that it normally would - IE taking you back to the last program you were in. I hate how it takes you back a page instead - I mean the Browser's back button is there for a reason, right?

This isn't for an Android phone, but is about my SiriusXM Lynx radio, which has an Android based OS and same type of touch screen. So if that isn't close enough, pretend this is about my Bionic.
I drive a truck for a living and mostly at nights, and the backlight for the Lynx us still quite bright at night on the dimmest setting. Not sure if the radio can be hacked to let me run a screen filter app like on my phone, so I'm thinking of a static cling window tint to dim the display more. if regular window tint would interfere with the touch screen's responsiveness?

This, "requires both CPU & GPU usage, not to mention that it's an incredibly expensive operation. To make it worse, this operation takes place on the main thread, meaning that you will experience lag.
