Mar 6, 2014I'm running 4.3 on my AT&T (not sure if that is relevant) Galaxy S3. A few weeks ago I updated it to 4.3 when I saw a message that an update was available.
I keep a lot of work contacts in the phone but over the years I've built a collection of "contacts" that have no first/last name but are simply just a "Company" field with a phone and fax number.
Before 4.3 I could use the keypad in the stock Phone app to spell out company names (e.g. I could pull up the number for "XYZ Widgets, Inc." by typing "XYZ", just like searching for a person's name).
Ever since 4.3 I've been unable to do this. I go into my contacts and they are still shown there. But they do not show up when I'm typing them out. So I have a workaround but it's cumbersome.
Any settings I can change to try to fix this? I took some screen captures of the menu options I have under "call settings" in the Phone app. Link: [URL]

Aug 4, 2010NFL Mobile updated will charge for games... I just updated my nfl mobile app and if you read the update its says we now have to pay for vcast in order to see live games.. I don't know about you guys but I remember them saying we could see them for free when they announced the exclusive deal.. Sucks just wanted to give a heads up.

Dec 1, 2013I recently updated my T-Mobile S3 to 4.3, experienced the usual bugs but worked through them.
I just bought a new Miracast capable smart tv (LG LN5700). When attempting to connect using the new screen mirroring option, the wifi direct connection is successful, the tv recognizes that the connecion is made, but the screen goes black and eventually the connection dies. My girlfriend also has an S3 on Sprint running 4.2 and hers works just fine.

General :: Samsung Galaxy Express Games Slowdown
Nov 30, 2013 I have a Samsung Galaxy Express, which is basically a gimped SIII and ran into some weird slowdown issues. I first noticed with Fast & Furious 6. When I first installed it, it ran smooth. After a few weeks, the game became so choppy it was close to unplayable. I just thought it was a fluke, maybe one of the updates didn't like my phone.
So, after this and other random issues, I did a factory reset. After that I downloaded Injustice, very happy it was finally added for android. Same thing, at first it ran great but after a week or two it started to become choppy. I have cleared all my caches, cleared my ram right before playing by using an app All-in-One Toolbox and I have 2.3 Gigs free space out of 5 Gigs.
The phone runs on Jelly Bean(I think, whatever is 4.1.2) and the model number is SGH-I437. I know there are at least two different Samsung Galaxy Express model numbers so that is why I added that info.

Aug 9, 2010I updated my unbranded desire to FroYo, and now I really wish I hadn't. Anything that requires data not Working as previously. My email is no longer push - I have to go in and manually refresh - which takes at least 5 minutes, and in the case of my exchange email, usually results in a sync error. Twidroyd, Twitter, Peep, Facebook, all timeout whenever I want to refresh them; I may get one proper update a day, but the rest of the time, nada.
Internet is so slow now, I just give up half the time. WiFi flickers on and off, even though it's set to on all the time. Anyone got any ideas of stuff I can check, or whether I can un update - I love the aps2sd and stuff, but it's bricked the rest of my phone. It's getting to the point where I'm actually starting to dislike the phone because it just doesn't work.

All I am getting is the message and video call option, the green call button seems to have disappeared. I can receive calls OK and made them, by manually dialing or selecting from call log. Haven't tried a reset but don't want to do that if there is another way in resolving.

Aug 19, 2012getting Device Manager working on my new Galaxy S5. If I recall, Device Manager looks at GPS position first. If that is turned off, it rolls to WiFi. If that is off, it rolls to Cell communications. It worked well on my old Galaxy S2, even when GPS was off, it still found the phone within a certain range.
With my Galaxy S5, it doesn't seem to work when GPS is turned of. WiFi or Cell signal will not allow device manager to find the phone.

Jan 12, 2013I have just switched from an iphone to a galaxy and am still working out all the tricks on the s3. One thing i seem to be having a problem with is the pop up notifications. what i would like is to have the phone wake up and show the email notifications on the lockscreen like the iphone does. I have notifications turned on for both gmail and the email app as well as facebook but the only time this works is with the messages.
