Samsung Galaxy S :: Updated To 2.2 Now Cannot Dial Contacts Directly

Updated my SGS last night using Kies. The software is running fine and seems to be faster but I have a problem I cannot dial contacts directly from that part of the phone. All I am getting is the message and video call option, the green call button seems to have disappeared. I can receive calls OK and made them, by manually dialing or selecting from call log. Haven't tried a reset but don't want to do that if there is another way in resolving.

contacts that i input on my Galaxy S3 do not sync with Gmail Yet - contacts entered in Gmail sync with the S3
i checked the Sync settings on the S3 - everything seems to look okay

I'm running 4.3 on my AT&T (not sure if that is relevant) Galaxy S3. A few weeks ago I updated it to 4.3 when I saw a message that an update was available.
I keep a lot of work contacts in the phone but over the years I've built a collection of "contacts" that have no first/last name but are simply just a "Company" field with a phone and fax number.
Before 4.3 I could use the keypad in the stock Phone app to spell out company names (e.g. I could pull up the number for "XYZ Widgets, Inc." by typing "XYZ", just like searching for a person's name).
Ever since 4.3 I've been unable to do this. I go into my contacts and they are still shown there. But they do not show up when I'm typing them out. So I have a workaround but it's cumbersome.
Any settings I can change to try to fix this? I took some screen captures of the menu options I have under "call settings" in the Phone app. Link: [URL]

I have a Samsung Galaxy S. When I am making a call, the dial pad contains buttons with a number and three to four letters. However, while I am in a call and that I hit the "dialpad" button to show the dial pad, it contains the same buttons but without the letters. This is embarrassing when you need to type a password or a name.So the two questions are:
1. Is there a way to get the letters to show on the dial pad during a call?
2. Is this a Samsung or Android bug?

Since I don't have google contacts I can't get voice dialing to work.. Does anyone know if Voice Dialing works with Froyo? I think its kind of crazy that my Motorola Razor had voice dialing stock and this does not.

And everything works perfectly! Ok i had to do a factory reset after the update (after backing up my contacts), but now it works faster, is more beautiful and of course Flash player is installed. A lot of little neat things were added as well. So i am happy and you should be too! Go update through KIES! Froyo should be there!

I have updated my Galaxy S with the registry hack to Froyo but I still have 2.1 update1 on it. I have read here How to get the Galaxy S Froyo 2.2 update RIGHT NOW if you own a GT-i9000 device, regardless of European country [UPDATED] | CareAce that Samsung pulled the Froyo update so people with can't access it with the registry hack. Is there any other way to get the update through Kies?

I have am in the UK and have a UK unbranded and stock SIMFREE SGS. I'm just tring to install Froyo but keep getting the message "The device's version cannot be updated."
I applied RyanZA's One Click Lag Fix a while ago which worked fine and more recently tried updating the registry hack a couple of weeks ago.
Currently the latest Kies xxxx100 says:
Current Version: PDA:JM2 / PHONE:JM1 / CSC:JM1
I never managed to complete the hack despite adjusting th PC's registry initially to the Scandi version.
My registry editor reads -

So ijust updated to the latest kies...1.53..._100 and when i go to click firmware upgrade i get a - unhandled exception error
After selecting either 'send message' or 'execute anyway' when i click firmware upgrade again, nothing pops up.

When I use the dial pad the tones are short but when I call to my voicmail then bring up dial pad the tones on the dial pad (the numbers) are long. How do I fix this and make them like the normal short dial pad?

I have configured my Samsung Galaxy S using my normal Gmail account. This has helped me to sync the Google Contacts with my phone.
Following are my questions:
1. Right now I have about a thousand google contacts synced to my phone. I want to remove them at one go. I know how to disable them from being appearing in contact list, but I want to know if I can delete them without going to factory settings.
2. I am using three applications (a) Gmail (b) Contacts (3) MVOIP. I want to know if there is a way that following combination works:
a- Google contacts appear on Gmail app
b- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "Contacts"
c- Google contacts (with phone numbers) and normal phone contacts appear on "MVOIP application".
I know how to do
(a) - By synchronising google contacts,
(b) - by choosing display options
(c) - I do not know how to handle this and I want help.

In Google Contacts I've entered birthdays and subscribed to the "Contacts' birthdays and events" calendar in Google Calendar.They show up as intended in Google Calendar but in my phones calendar they're all listed twice. Unsubscribing from the contacts birthdays calendar makes both disappear, so they're not from some other calendar.Is this a bug in the Galaxy S calendar? Any solutions?

Is there any way with the stock apps, or with another app, to put the photo of frequently called/messaged contacts directly on a page; so that simply touching the icon will open up messaging to that person? I am coming from a WinMo phone and used the ContactPro app, which allowed for this.

my Android device: Everytime I add a new contact it's randomly saved to one of my two Google accounts that are synched with my phone, but I want it to be saved directly(locally) to the phone. I've browsed through all the settings menus but couldn't find a solution.

Could someone explain to me how exactly facebook contacts are updated under "People"? By that I mean the picture and the status updates. Is it Friendstream? I am not using friendstream for live feeds. I only have sync contacts checked. I am using the actual facebook app. Let me explain..I have been playing around trying to get optimal battery. I am using the facebook app widget to view status updates. I have the facebook refresh interval at 30 minutes and all notifcations off (since they dont work)Under "people" I have all the facebook options checked. Since there are 2, I dont know which one is for facebook app and which is for friendstream. I want to make sure my phone is not trying to sync contacts twice. Also, anyone else having trouble with no twitter contacts showing up under "people"? Neither friendstream or the twitter app do it.

Ok my friend and I both have the droid eris. I got the OTA update on Saturday morning...no issues. Girlfriend got the update this AM at midnight, she updated, and now all of her contacts (Phone numbers) are all gone. How to restore?

Ive just received my new Galaxy S yesterday and I must say I am pretty thrilled. However I cannot send the same text message to all of my contacts. When I go above 10 it says it cant send to more than 10 contacts.
Is this problem related to
1. Samsung ?
2. Android ?
3. Or my Mobile Carrier....which is Optus in Australia.

When I'm trying to select more than 10 contacts to sens an SMS, it says that No more 10 contacts allowed. Does any one know how to fix this? Moreover, how can I send an SMS by just select the group and it insert all the contact of that group?

Is there a way to delete all my SIM contacts at one go or synch these contacts with updated phone contacts?
I could only find a way to delete 1 contact at a time, that's cumbersome and time consuming.

My contacts have all been duplicated 10-15 times each.Account sync is off, though I did sync facebook, google + last.fm when I first got the phone - a few required linking.Not sure how to re-sync contacts, has anyone else had this problem?

i have often experienced this issue. after dialing any phone number and trying to save that number from call log to existing contact it is not working. Means, it tries to open the contact but giving error. did any one has experienced this issue and like to hear your views or corrective measures.

Backed up my phone (x10) and then updated to 2.1. I then restored the data and everything was restored (apps etc.) but not contacts, the main thing I wanted to restore, I keep going back to restore the phone and it keeps saying that the contacts have been restored, but they haven't.

I've just updated to the new 2.1 and only 1 of my contacts has been restored? I downloaded the newest version of Back up and Restore before the update? Is there anyway I can retrieve my contacts? I do hope so?! Or will cry. I've also had to re install the apps one by one too? A couple didn't restore at all? But the contacts is the main one!
